I have also grown out Ice before. It is a tricking strain and not one I would of choose to grow when I am a novice with the grow medium or method. Ice is very tempermental....no wonder I like it, (most high maintenance women stick together) I had a lot of trouble with it my first couple times around with it be careful with these ladies too much stress and they will go hermie on you. Also FYI on the Ice strain it does not like too much food go light on the ferts with those ladies or you will be sorry. If they start to give you too much of a headache you may have to putem back into soil but I would only do that as a last resort. Also when/if you do put them back into soil I would separate them if at all possible from whatever else you have going as just that alone may be enough to start some male sacks to pop out on those ladies and then you will be in a world of hurt. Also Ice does NOT like inconsistancy so what I am saying is once you have found they are recovering from this problem letem be....this is not a strain to experiment with they do not take to it well. After I thought I had this strain mastered I started messing with the ferts and different PH levels only to have them all shirvel up and crock in a 24 hour period.

Now if I were you and I was going to use nothing but Fox Farm, I would get the dry ferts as well. This will pretty much take care of any problems like this as Fox Farm designed all these ferts to work together and you will never have to worry about any defencies on anything.

Follow the grow chart for hydro that Fox farm puts out.....it is idiot proof.

Worst thing you will get is PH problems which is an easy fix.

Blackmelo:

Thanks for that link. Good info there!

I really appreciate your help. I didn't realize how touchy Ice was when I ordered seed. I have made the decision to put all nine plants in soil though. Partly because of all the hassle I'm having with this hydro grow. Aside from problems I have had with nutes and pH....My job is such that I can't spend the time I need fucking with that system. I will also be able to grow my plants to a much bigger size once they are in pots on the floor. I can grow them to 5 foot easy if I need to.

And I will keep a close eye on all of them after I go 12/12...which will be when they are nearly 6 weeks old.... they will be 5 weeks on Wednesday.

I will begin another thread with pics when I get everything going in pots.

You ever grow Hindu Kush? I like what I read about it. I'm thinking of buying some Hindu Kush because I have a good deal for it. Said to be a compact, low grower. I may try it outside in the boondocks here. Our growing season is short here...elevation is 3000 feet plus and mountainous. HinduKush might work OK?

Thanks again

There they are. Go see my grow diary, look at the other pictures and see if I made right calls. I hope this fuckers don't die. I woke up and looked at them just now 2AM and they look happy...or was I just fucked up? :joint:

It's been a while but transplant went very well IMO. My remaining 2 AI and 2 Ice plants are healthy and going into 2 week of flower. These are pics from 2 days ago.

I'd like to thank all of you for your advice and/or moral support. I hope your grow goes well too. I have a diary going. Please feel free to visit and comment if you like.

Thanks

My ladies getting an indoor suntan

Draining after getting a drink...plant partially seen on left is an AI male I had to shitcan. Next time I'll get my sox and shit out of the way :joint:

Ice #4 the shorter of my two Ice. She's a bit lopsided but very healthy.

Ice #2 is doing very well. Has been growing at 1" plus every day for the last 10 days. She's a bit lopsided too as you can see...a fine lady though. Kinda like a gal who has one breast that's a lil bigger than the other one Ya think? :joint:

Aurora Indica # 5. She is the shorter of my two AI's. She is very healthy and green though. She and Ice #4 are on lil stools so they get better light. I like to keep my light really close. Its about 6" or so. See grow pic above.

Aurora Indica #2 Big Mama and she is pretty shapely too. Tallest of the lot(over Ice #2 by an inch) she also has the best shape of the four. She's growing at 1 inch plus a day too right now.

Rollin, rollin, rollin!! :joint:

great job! Glad they are bouncing back.
but you should have paying close attention to your res nute levels and you'de have known what the problem was.
Personally i think you just over fed them a tad too much.
Advanced nutrient management is the shiznit!
IME, going to soil was a bad choice for you. If youre having trouble diagnosing hydro(which is pretty easy concidering you have meters to tell you exactly whats going on),..then your going to really have your hands full with soil diagnosing.
Good luck

You may be right about what I was doing wrong. However, growing hydro is not as easy as you make it sound. Plus it was a daily hassle. Soil is MUCH simpler.

Soil a bad choice for me? These plants are LOVING their pots and soil.

Ice #2 and AI #2 are now nearly 4 FEET tall. They went from 17 and 19 inches on April 15th to 43 inches April 30th. They are the picture of health now..IMO Lmake the pic full frame and look closely at the leaves. Not a hint of anything wrong, right down to the pointy leaf tips. nice and green.

See for yourself

Thanks for input though :joint:

Ice #2 top after 14 days of 12/12 it is 43 inches tall and healthy. At transplant it was NOT very healthy and 17 inches tall. The others are doing equally well. Click for full frame pic
