Need help and advice on my planned cabnit grow.

I'd do the screen 4" to 8" and flip when half the net is full for Indicas...and 30%-40% for Sativas....

Again....I have never attempted a grow in 20.5 cubic ft....I did do a closet grow (Scrog) in a 3 x 3 x 6 (54 cubic feet) once with 800W...but it wasn't enclosed....

Recirculating.....I did a recric DWC...I used 2 30 gallon rubbermaid containers and had a pump moving the water in the rubbermaid that was OUTSIDE of the cab....it was cool cause I could check/adjust PH...and feed without lifting the lid for the plant container....check Blazeoneup's recirculating tutorial for an idea of how it works....and maybe shoot him a PM...he's an expert on recirculating.....

anyways I'd advise browsing through the microgrowers forum for some ideas maybe? I have come across many threads with setups like you are designing...just never followed the design....

Glad ya like that tinted door lol! (it's an emergency blanket)

good luck

Cooling a 600w in there might be a little tricky...a 400w will still give ya around 100w sq/ft and since you're not growing bushes it'll have plenty of light penetration for a Scrog or SOG.

Have you thought of turning the cab upside down so that the taller area is at the top? That would allow you to have all your passive intakes come in from the veg area then go through the bottom of the flower area and exit via a scrubber at the top...might make your heat removal a little easier and will help keep your veg area cooler.

i also installed the biggest and most powerful attic fan lowes had. This will vent out the exhaust from my grow, It has temp and humidity settings, so i dont have to worry about the post air filling up my attic and making my house hotter

i may flip like suggested if my cord for my light does'nt allow me to have the light on the bottom, i want to have the ballest in the attic.

One suggestion i need, is what to do to seal the 2 holes the duckting will be going through in my cab, a lot of duck tape should do the trick?

I'd use caulking, water putty, or some like product....lol...course duct tape always works...

Did you get any ideas in the microgrowers forum?

Good luck

Oh...just thought of a grower that has a cabinet and his design was sweet.

You gotta do some work though bro.... :D

Just search Angel Eyes (that's the member's user name :smoke: ) ...then read his thread on his Ikea cabinet...or do a search for Ikea

Good Luck

Foil backed tape also works extremely well for sealing...and it doesn't come off like duct tape has a habit of.

that ballast is going to get hot hot hot. attics are good places for fires to start. build a shelf of some sort that is attached to the beams in the attic. put the ballast on the shelf so that it is away from insulation and what not. also, get a fire extinguisher. the last thing you want is a fire bringing the 5-0 to your place.

Yeah, hence the attic fan i installed, then again, what good is a extinguisher going to do when a fire starts above me as i sleep, my house will be half gone by the time i awake. But I always make it a rule to have one next my grow, in cause something happens.
 But Good idea, on the shelf. :lurk:

After spending an hour in my current grow room which is under a 600watt with a more powerful fan and the room is very big. I noticed it is pretty hot. So Having a 600 in my cab will need good venting. I think I am going to flip the cab like you suggest. Will also be better because i will only need one hole for the vent line. And I will put all the holes on the bottom like you suggested.

Hell, I could run the venting right to the attic fan, and the fan will go on when it sense the hot air. That will frix the scrubber slowing the air down, and get the smell out of my house. But I'm not so sure if it is a good idea. I mean the smell will vent from the roof and go into my hood. But I don't see if anyone would smell it? Nor link it with my house based on smell 100ft up in the air. I dunno. I will have to see how the scrubber goes with the air flow

Yep I love silver tape,I use that shit throughout my grow,it even seals my dayton 495 cfm blower atop my 1000W hydrofarm fixture.

Nope...foil tape for HVAC work (available in the AC/heating dept of your local home improvement store. The glue doesn't degrade like duct tape does when it gets hot and it sticks ALOT better...especially on irregular surfaces.

Try to avoid letting it stick to itself after you remove the covering on the glue side...it's a royal PITA to get it unstuck :D
