I had a Hanna Checker but it would not stabilize so I decided it was time for a new one. So I bought another Hanna checker online and that pos won't stabilize either. I calibrated it yesterday with 7.01 and 4.01 solution and today I checked it to see if it was still calibrated and it didn't match up on either solution. Then when I try it in tap water it will just keep climbing slowly, never seems to stop. I let it sit for 5mins and it still going up point at a time. So now I'm trying to figure out where to go from here. I have hard water and a ph meter is a must so I can tell what to add. I know bluelabs is well know but do they make a decent priced reliable model?

I still run back to 3 drop testers/viles. ph meters I don't use for this very reason

Ok I bought a vial setup so I have a backup. But I think I figured out this Hanna checker. It's gotta be set in the solution for a few minutes prior to turning it on. Then I lift it from the solution and turn it on and place of back on the solution. I give it a little stir and it seems to stabilize much better. I will have to compare with the vial once I get it.

I fucking LOVE my Bluelab pH pen. I used to have a hanna trimeter and I had to recalibrate it frequently, this one I've had for 4 months and haven't had to change a thing. It's still perfect. the battery life is also great. I havent even thought about batteries till now. Their build quality is great, im probably going to invest in one of their ppm meters once my current one dies

I 2nd the Bluelab pH Pen.. they are dead simple and don't seem to have you questioning it like other meters can sometimes do.

I'll take a bluelab pH pen and truncheon over a combo meter any day.

I just purchased a blue lab ph pen and ppm pen. This will be my 1st pen/grow so I dont have anything to compare it to.But I will say It works flawlessly and looks like a very quality piece of equiptment.

You can always buy replacement probes. In fact you should always have them on hand, just in case.
Dont buy anything else but a bluelab pen. Every time I go to calibrate the damn thing I find out I wasted my solution because its perfect. Ive been through 3 other pens that needed to be calibrated every week.
It has a signal that indicates when it needs to be calibrated, but Ive never seen it.

Keep in mind that Bluelab pens you cant replace the probe. You would need to buy a new unit..

your bluelab is pH and ec ? THe pH only one you cant replace probe

I have Bluelab PH and TDS pens. My TDS pen has directions to replace every 12 months, but you're right, my PH does not have the same instructions. It looks like the replacement probes Ive seen are for the combo unit.
Still worth every penny!

I have had good luck with the Milwaukee Ph600...it is only $25.00 off eGaY! However..they are not waterproof. I had to learn the hard way. ;(

Will be investing next run on either a Milwaukee or Bluelab combo meter. Milwaukee MW802 probably.

Cheers

Purchased the Bluelab PH meter about a month ago,and could not be happier with it.Went through a hanna pen that would not keep calibration for a while and got fed up with it.At $150.00 delivered it was not cheap, but cared for properly Im sure it will last.Hell my Truncheon has been going strong for a couple years now(thanks rives).
