My Super Intelligent C24 Grow Cab

you touched on the music and id like to back you on that from something i have seen on tv. There is a show call myth busters on discovery channel( r u familiar?) that does just that... proves or busts myths, well late one night they were proving if music had any effect on growth....myth CONFIRMED!!!!!! but it doesnt need to be any certain type of music. What they did was place about 8 grow tents on their roof and grew beans(yes beans) in a drip system, so they could account for all variables and make everything identical besides the type of noise used, only one was silent, grew like shit, the other all had various sound recordings played constantly, from a lady talking sweet to them to one cursing the crap out of them, to hardcore thrasher tunes to opera/classical, it made no diffence what the sound was they all grew great, all that is except the poor lonely quiet one. was quite funny to here some one calling there bean plants names like they were doing..."you scronny shrivelled up wanna ba maple tree", but the end result was very obvious. On a sad note, their timer died one day and so went 2 or 3 days with out water and all died, but they had enough evedence to prove the theory, the measured and weighed and counted(leaves) and all were way above the no noise ones. I would love to use this in my room(just a radio) but am afraid of the music would make people ask questions about where it was coming from. BTW i love your system ass well and would love to hear more on your atou dosing, and how much work it really is to set up

I bought my digi ballast off a guy on ebay that sells a whole bunch of ballasts and hoods and bunch of combos. I believe the brand of this digi ballast is Digital Greenhouse, but I'm not positive.

Well, there is a lot more to the affects of music to the plants that I wont go into detail here because I have already written details in another thread. Read this thread if you want more detailed info http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=34973

And yes, I am VERY familiar with mythbusters, but they did not do that myth scientific enough for it to be totally proven for many reason, but I'm not going to rehash that again also.

My auto dosing system is not complete. I have made the ph dosing unit but I still dont have my ph/tds meter so at the time being my ph doser is almost useless. I have 5 peristaltic pumps that I recieved from welco that I plan to use for nutrient dosing, but if I plan on still using the FloraNova nutes then I will have to come up with a device that will blend the settled nutes, almost like a blender type thing, and then start sucking up the nutes so there will never be problems, but that part of this venture will be a pain in the ass so I might stick with chem nutes for the time being.

My third bucket should be in my system in the next couple of days and I should have something up and running shortly. I'll post pics asap

I updated my first post. I just finished putting in my third bucket. It was a project and a half. I also made sure I went around every bucket with ducting insulation and put that foam pipe insulation on my fill and drain lines to help keep my nutrient temps down.

Heres some pics of what it looks like with the third bucket now in.

My digital hps is still being used elsewhere, it'll be another month before I get it back in here. For now I am going to use my compact flourescent hood that I made to light up my room.

I'm also starting to build a smaller system for veg using 2 gallon buckets in a c25. My cab is going to be built almost the same exact way so I will take many pics and make a tutorial for you folks so you all can know how to make a perfectly reflective cabinet.

Happy growing all.

Trust me, it is totally worth the work. I had to spend a long time doing this. I started maybe in february and I'm still not done, but thats mostly because I'm waiting for my ph/tds meter, then things will really be ready and you guys will see some cool shit.

I just put a bunch of catnip seeds in some rapid rooters and I am going to try that first. I'm kinda sick of tomatoes for now.

I did a tomato grow when I had 2 buckets in there, but one was a bad seed and just not growing well and I was way into flowering so I pretty much just went and killed them both and thats when I decided to put my third bucket in.

It sux that I've had this thread up for a while but nothing to show you folks for growth yet. I'm just waiting to have my system complete and I'll start up my diary

--UPDATE--

My PH/TDS meter for my growtronix system is going to be at my door within a week and then you guys will see the potential of my system.

I am going to be adding in those peristaltic pumps from welco for nutrient dosing.

At the current moment, I am growing catnip in my 3 bucket system using LED's to start. One with both red and blue, one with just red, and one with just blue. I'm only doing this because thats the only way I was able to do it with the amount of LED's that I have. But I can take this oportunity to do a little testing and documenting of some sort until I purchase more LED's.

I'll post pics tomorrow of my current grow, the wife needs me in bed now.

Ya Im still waiting on my sensor, its really getting old. When did you place your order? its been almost 6 mo since i've placed mine. DJ rarely responds to e-mails anymore how do you get ahold of him? I don't live too far away i might have to go do some door knocking, his system is somewhat useless to me without the last piece, i am sure you know the feeling.

Well, he just told me that I should have my meter in a week. DJ recieved payment on my order on 6/23/06 so it has been almost 6 months for me also. It has been 24 weeks now. I've left him some pissy emails a few times. He usually respondes and tells me that he understands the aggrevation. All that matters is that I get that meter.

Other than that, I can say that DJ is a good guy and his product is great.

But, yes, my system is totally useless without that meter.

I had said in my last email that if I dont get that meter then I would return everythign to him and charge him for the cost of the computer that I made and everything. My total computer system cost including GT was about $2,500 including the peristaltic pumps for the PH doser I made.

He's always refused to give me a phone number, and yahoo spam keeps blocking his emails on me, and I end up finding them about a week later. In many cases I have not recieved emails back from him. I try to be understanding of how running a bussiness by yourself can be, but when I was originally told 6 weeks and now at 24 weeks, I'm getting irritated.

Hmm I ordered mine 6/16. I've sent a couple irritated e-mails but like yourself I try to be understanding as I know he does everything himself. But c'mon don't offer something for sale if you can't deliver within six months... I really don't see what the problem is, i know he has working models so why not ship them out? instead he works on a new software verion that requires validation of equipment? I have some source code that works with dallas semiconductor (MaximIC) 1-Wire devices. That is basicly what the growtronix setup is. I was going to write my own from the beginning but i saw his setup and though hey if i could just buy it i would save alot of time. But at this point i could have done it faster myself. Pathetic. Anyway I'd imagine one could use the CO2 sensors and match them to tds sensors with analog output for a workaround (well see if you get your sensor or not).

Ok folks, It's been a while since I put some pics for you guys to check out

I finally got my PH/TDS meter...but the ph part doesn't work. Oh well, I'll have the replacement soon.

I'm growing catnip at the time being. I only have 2 going on because the one I had in the third bucket died after my array fell on top of it and burned it to death.

These are bright as all hell. This is a total of about 7 watts of led's. I'm working on build my first full real array.

I bought a fire extinguisher that was marketed directly for electrical fires. I'm kinda wondering if this is just the some as the cheaper ones by the same company :chin: But hell, it kinda goes with the theme here.

This is a good pic of what I decided to do for ventilation for the time being.

Please excuse that I have a few wires hanging around. This is just the beginning of my LED venture. It normally ain't my thing to have things all messy looking. But I guess if you were to see all the wires that I do have organized and hidden, you'd probably be rather surprised.

I did my carbon scrubber and vortex fan up like that for the time being. I plan to change things around a little later, I'm going to have the vortex directly venting out the back. I have a way of killing the sound, kinda an idea I came up with that seems very promising, I'm sure all of you will like it.

That is seriously bad ass. I'd like to try that one day. Where can we get more info on the computer controller system?
