My Seeds from the UK project

My new project has begun. I am using eight t-5 6500k tubes in my TEK 48. I ordered seeds from our sponsor. Got them ok but would they grow?

A couple of days ago I got a bunch of biocups and coco soil. Sowed the seeds directly.

I planted 5 Sensi "Super Skunk" and all 5 popped within 2 days. The other I bought was Hawaii x Skunk. Two popped. One had a sewing thread size stock and it cant lift the seed head off the soil. The other one looks good.
The "Freebie" was skunkman "South African Durban Poison x Skunk". One out of 10 popped. The stem was too thin and it too is sitting on its seed head.

Hoping that perhaps I have some slow starters, I continue to try and get the other seeds to pop. If no luck soon, I will put in the other 5 Super Skunk seeds.

I am not surprised because I think you get what you pay for. The one that actually cost money is performing 100%. The Hawaii was dirt cheap and I was not expecting much. Be nice if just one Poison got going.

And I did not try anything really tricky. I did rough up the shells of some of the seeds but no soaking or anything. If I was really really anal about it, I probably could have gotten a couple of more to pop.

So here are some pictures of the little plants just starting out.

More of the Hawaii x Skunk has popped. So only the free seeds are not doing as well. We will take some pics tomorrow.

Yeah the freebie durban's are hard to germinate because they were made about 8 years ago i believe. I managed to get 5 of ten to germinate....just took longer then the rest of the seeds. On the upside....they are actually some great genetics, so if you can get a few to survive you may just find a keeper.
Good luck!

Thanks. I will keep at them a little longer and maybe we will luck out. The rest are starting to get into growing mode. Should be an interesting grow.

Wow Man You dont play do you? I didnt know you had a grow going on over here too! Wow man Im impressed, really I am. I wish I had seeds to start other than these bag seeds that I have saved up over the last couple months. I will make due though and grow my mystery weed.

I will continue to watch your new grow and I hope its just as good as your other grow is You are the man Not Me!

D rock, you know I couldnt let my T5 around doing nothing. It is sitting there and I had an itch to try ordering seeds from the UK. I just had to see if I could get seeds from the UK without the law: No problem. And then I had to see what they really sent: Was very clean and above board, in the original package. Finally, would these beans pop?: 100% of the Sensi Super Skunk. Last night, two more Hawaiians stuck their heads out so it is close to 60%. Only one poison popped to date and it did not last long. However I am going to keep at them for a couple of weeks as I have read a few posts now that say I might be surprised.

I am not the man yet, I am getting better. These folks here sure can help with suggestions and ideas. And you guys keep me going, these doctors around here keep wanting to plant me, I keep bouncing back cause I just have to see how yall are doing.

All the horsetrading my friend did to get the lights was incredible. But the best part is the TEK 48 got to stay (although I did have to trade the red spectrum bulbs). When I saw that I had a closet free to start another, I clicked on our sponsors ad above and ordered the seeds.

Looking forward to our cybersmoke.

All of the Super Skunk is growing, the Hawaii X Skunk#1 has 6 out of 10 but one died. Only one Durban Posion X and it died. Hopeful maybe the other guys will still pop so I am keeping them moist. Here are a few pictures.

An update. 100 percent on the seeds I paid for. Not on the freebies but I keep them going as some of the Hawaiian took their time. They are not growing fast but seem to be coming along so will wait to post pictures.

Day 13

Day 13

Growing slowly but growing. A couple are starting to look like plants. Growing in CoCo soil biocups. Next stop is FFOP. Some of these girls were very slow to pop so they are all not really 13 days. All the paid for seeds popped. A couple of the free ones popped. 18 hours light under tek 48

Day 21

Day 21

The seedlings are turning into plants. Wont be long until transplant. These all started popping at different times so the span is more like 7 days to 21 days. The Super Skunk was the fastest to pop and grow. Poison was the slowest. I threw in two Grapefruit seeds a week ago and they took right off.
Here are the little girls

UK seeds Day 39

They are going to town. The poison is the slow grower. Hawaiian is jumping out with thin leaves. SuperSkunk has fat leaves. I added a cheese clone to keep them all happy.

Update note. Have a clean room ready and the veg room is overloaded. The T-5 lights are still managing cover way more ground and the plants grow well despite the overcrowding. So I moved the Hawaiian's and two Grapefruit over and switched them 12/12. I am hoping maybe I can thin down the crop and stop wasting space on males. Also they all got neem'd yesterday. The Super Skunk is vegging great. The Poison is a bit wimpy. Pictures when I can focus.

Things go sideways but are going better

Things go sideways but are going better

Shortly after the transplant things went very badly.
So I have been in the infirmary section the last few weeks getting help with the plants. Good news is the doctors have got them looking better.

The Hawaiians grow very fast so they were put under 12/12 HPS. Three males are gone. One Grapefruit was also a herm so it is gone.

We rotate the super skunk into the HPS trying to get that back on track. They are looking better.

Nice thread T5. Good to see someone using those jiffy coir pots too, handy little things for reducing transplant stress. What did the doctors say was wrong with them?

The thread is at http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=74541&page=1&pp=15 and you can see lots of help is available.

Yeah I like the biocups. Easy to work with although I do like to remove the bottom of the cup on transplant if I can catch it before the roots get going into it. And they decompose nicely.

Late last night I had a chance to peak with the mags and the super skunk are already showing signs. One set of white hairs for sure. Another one I need to look at tonight. I looks like might be growing some nut sacks but really too small yesterday to tell.

The last of the bunch in the other room are looking much better and the hawaiians are starting to grow. I will never mix this kind of batch again. I now know why they were recommended for outdoor ( which I kind of found out after the fact) and think these girls would grow like corn if possible.

The Cheese is the one I am really want to grow. I have got to get that to bush up if I am going to attempt a clone at some point. It looks better on the top so I will keep my fingers crossed.

I will start posting my notes back here now that the docs have saved my grow.

Thanks D Rock.
I have four that were kind of sick that need to catch up now. The cheese clone. I love the fact that I got it. I do not like the fact that it was infested with spider mites. After several baths of Neem oil, it looks to be doing fine. But it meant I had to treat every plant and wash out the rooms. But the hawaiians are easy. They are so spread out - this was absolutely an outdoor plant. I am trying to tie then over with fishing line so they run across the light. They are easily 3 feet and growing. But the buds and leafs are so spread out.
I am hoping to move them all to 12 / 12 tonight. The little guys will just have to catch up. When the lights come on I can get some pictures.
The little bud sites are just starting to form so I might get one more shot at oiling them up but then I worry about rot so nothing on the buds once they form up. I have learned about rot and it is not good.
This is not a pretty grow this time around but I learned a ton more stuff. Root temperature, perlite, bag size, timing, feeding alternatives, pest control. Thanks to everyone.
Ok the lights come on late and run all night so I will take pictures. It is a great idea I got from some of you to run them at night as it helps the temperature in the grow room.
Next task is to learn about cloning. If I can get some clones going that would be good. They grow well under the T5 setup. Although I have grown clones, I prefer the seeds. Clones do have an advantage of speed but not of high yield. However I would like to master that and I have read up on it here and watched a video a guy posted. I practiced cutting on the males that I tossed. I think I can do it like the video. IF I can get the Cheese to get going, I would like to clone it.
If I can get one Poison to be female, I would like to clone it. I only used half the super skunk seeds so maybe I will have a better female ration next time.

Yeah I like to run my light at night too, due to temperatures. Will be standing by to see the pics.
