I got this because I'm lazy... Also I'm tired of using domes... Let's see how easy it really is??. I took 17 clones 6 Durban Poison, 6 Lemon Skunk, & 5 mystery strain... That was 2 days ago... I put a little thrive in the water and some rooting powder on the ends... The powder washed off as soon as I turned it in though... So it prob won't help any... Here's a pic or two... I'll keep ya'll posted...

Be sure to field strip and sterilize the unit between uses. They are infamous for immediate catastrophic failure with poor hygiene usually being the culprit. Some report the use of EWC teas eliminates the need for sterilizing.

I saw something new to me the other day I run my home made aerocloner with just tap water and get results I am happy with. like Freezerboy said it needs to be cleaned between uses. I met someone whose cloner has ran continually for he claims 16 months minimum with no cleaning. Says he changes the water out a couple, three times a month. He uses power cloner solution (which I don't think has anything to do with it) and AquaShield from Botanicare. AquaShield is a liquid compost solution. It must do the same thing as EWC tea, eliminates the need for sterilizing.
Judging by the general appearance of his cloner, he has a Botanicare 148, I don't doubt him. He sure had plenty of clones running when I was there. He had a baggie of red sprayer nozzles that I saw but never thought to ask if he'd changed them out at all.

I have no use for perpetually running my cloner, but was wondering if anyone has similar experience.

Sorry to jack your thread, my question didn't seem worth a new thread.

Hope you get 17/17 clones. I have enjoyed both lemon skunks I have grown hope you do as well.

Thank you both... I will be sure to keep a close eye on things... I like to keep things neat... So I shouldn't have a problem... I cleaned it before I started her up...

I use straight tap water in my EZ Cloner PH'd to 6.3 or so. That's it. I haven't lost a clone in years and I get roots anywhere from 7-14 days depending on the strain. Between each use I run it for awhile with about a cup of bleach and then rinse it well. Simple as that.

The only issue I've had was just recently when winter was setting in and I left it on the concrete floor in the basement. Laziness really. Those clones rooted but took 3 weeks because of the cool temps.

Ezcloners are just that EZ! I run mine 24/7 365, I live and die by my cloner! Tap water, clonex gel and 1 cup of ewct thats all! Every 3 weeks I rinse out the bottom and drop pump and manifold into tub with 1 cup of bleach and run for 5 mins. repeat without bleach clean nozzles total down time 20 mins max and the clones that are in it survive just fine! 2 year 100% streak still going!! Bsafe
I also have a complete extra set of collars and i clean them every time they are used! Have a extra set of nozzles on the way so less down time. also u can double up on the clones per collar too!

I made a cheap copy of this using rubbermaid tray and a air pump. It was my first time cloning ever and within weeks all my cuttings had rooted and was ready to be transfer into soil, etc. This way of cloning was by far the easiest and fastest IMO. I used tap water ph'd to 6.0 and it works like a charm.

Clearres is just overpriced chlorine in the bottle. I have a thread here that will show you how make a many year supply for $4. That guy that doesn't clean his ezcloner for a year is actually keeping it clean the whole time by keeping the chlorine levels in the water high enough to fight the bad stuff while not hurting cloning. While I suggest a full cleaning after each and every time, when using chlorine my cloners look and smell clean when I go to clean them. Also, if you use chlorine you can pretty safely run higher temps which has shown to bring roots faster.

Botanicare® Power Clone

Ingredients: Potassium nitrate, ammonium nitrate, ammonium molybdate, calcium nitrate, potassium phosphate, potassium borate, magnesium phosphate and potassium sulfate.

Contains Non-Plant Food Ingredients:
0.005% Thiamine Hydrochloride (reduce stress)
0.0005% Indole-3-Acetic Acid (promotes Rooting)

AquaShield is "derived from composted poultry litter"

In another website I read that AquaShield used to be marketed under another name, Flora Guard I believe, then Gen Hydro came out with a knock off called Flora Shield. So Botanicare responded by renaming their product AquaShield. Flora Shield doesn't give their ingredients and costs twice as much.

I used Flora Shield as a dip and wash in my last batch of cuttings along with Great White mychorrizal mix. Got some of the lushest root growth I've ever had with the initial rooters, but the Pythium I've been fighting still won out in the end. It was a sorry lot of wilted leaves and mushy stems when I shut it down.

Clearres is just overpriced chlorine in the bottle. ... That guy that doesn't clean his ezcloner for a year is actually keeping it clean the whole time by keeping the chlorine levels in the water high enough to fight the bad stuff while not hurting cloning.

Actually he said AquaShield, not Clear Res.

I used to run my home made aerocloner continuously until the pathogens set in. It was great while it lasted. Since I have a perpetual grow I'd love to be able to do it again. I'm running a batch with chlorine now. Hopefully that will be my answer, at least as long as I'm fighting such an aggressive pathogen.

Slimy film on pump & reservoir???

Slimy film on pump & reservoir???

Today I noticed some sort of build up??.:frown: I bought this used and think it is due to that... The prior owner prob neglected it... So I decided to strip it down and clean it again... This time I washed it with antibacterial soap... Then ran it for 30 minutes using boiling hot bleach/alcohol water... And then again w/ just boiling water... Surprisingly my babies still look healthy!!:jump: I will be watching them like a hawk... Wish me luck...

I've got the same thing, just a home-made gimmick. I've had, literally, 100% success with it.

But everyone here is right - they're prone to bacterial contamination, .. You're best off staying disciplined about emptying & wiping it down every 7 days. Then let it run for a bit with some bleach water (I use about 1:10).. Then, rinse, later, repeat. And clone!

Don't bother with any rooting powder or gel - like you said, it'll rinse off right away anyway, and it's not needed.

I throw in a dash of micro & bloom, and of course, SuperThrive. Works well!
