Its cool when ppl use the same strain for both soil and hydro growing and get a different outcome.

and its alwase good when a grower gaining more experience with there growing.

HeyYa cheesebuds! Thanks for dropping-by.
Yeah, but one thing I messed-up on, is by using different nutes on this grow, to keep the experiment accurate, I really should have used the same nutes as the hydro grow.

I guess I'm just going to have to do another hydro grow with this strain, using the Cornucopia nutes. Geese, I'm going to end-up with a pile of pot!!!

Oh well!!!! :joint: :joint: :joint: :abduct:

Here's a few threads with some nice Dr Atomic NL pics.

One guy said he had a 12 week girl and there is some mention of sativa leaves but indica smoke. Apparently you can get 4 different pheno's from the NL's if you grow out enough seeds.

I know my Dutch Treat x Shiskaberry puts out 3 pheno's that I've grown out and the LUI will sometimes give out an Ortega pheno which is highly prized.

Here's a guy growing organic that only has milky trichs at 70 days.

WOW Red, those pics of Dr. Atomic NL - I'd be afraid those trees would hang me to dry, Roll & Smoke ME, Scary BIG!!

Interesting about the variation in NL, do you suppose because it's been around for so long, and crossed so much? I personally found the difference in leaf shape in my 2 grows with the same mum pretty amazing.

Here's what's happenin' in the cab, as of about 1/2 hour ago:

Leaves are really yellowing, and trichs are going opaque, no sign of ambers yet.

I think I'm going to trim fan leaves as they die-off (or nearly die), just to keep air circulation up. Like the thread references that Red posted, I too have had problem in the past with mold during late flower.

Another experiment: I read that UV-B light will help turning trichs to amber. I happen to have a CFL blacklight, figured I'd give it a try. The light is only hrelly hitting 1 of my girls, so I have a bit of control - we'll see if there's a difference between the girl on the left getting the extra UV light, verses the right-hand girl.

Oh I like UVB idea. I want to experiment with well placed LED's using those wavelengths in future grows, just to see if you can control the cannabinoid profile to an extent. But I think your hypothesis is right as outdoor grown usually has a larger CBD ratio, mainly due to the UV light.

One of those Atomic NL's went 12 weeks. Did you go that long with yours last time? My Thai-lights went 11 weeks and I had a Shiskaberry that went about that long too. These are all Sativa/Indica hybrids.

That's a great idea to try the UV light. I think you're on track with the trichs changing to opaque in a few days.

It's funny about the second time round with a plant. Last grow my Shiskaberry had huge leaves in early veg. This time with a revegged large rootball it grew more like the Thai-Lights.

Yeah, it's strange - you have to wonder if looking at leaf shape is really a very good indicator of whether it's sativa/indica dominant. Seems like nutes, water availability and medium play a large part in leaf shape also. Cola size and bush stature seem to be more reliable indicator, IMHO.

Hey, thanks for stoppin' by Mr Roboto, I'll keep you informed on the progress of the UV-B experiment.

I've been using a RadioShack 3-lens magnifying loupe to check trichs, I decided to pick-up one of those lit scopes. Definately better to use, most of my trichs are cloudy, but I finally saw just a couple of ambering trichs -
Just a few, but I think I'll be chopping in a week or 2.

My last grow went for a whopping 16 weeks, & I never saw amber trichs - but then again, I saw my 1st amber trich only after buying the new scope, so I think that I just needed "better eyes".

OK - I'm seeing probably 5% ambers and hardly any clear trichs, so I'm thinking of turning-out the lights on Saturday and chopping on Tuesday Evening, after 72 Hrs of darkness.

The Radio Shack lighted microscope is DEFINITELY the way to examine for trichs, don't use the 3-lens loupe!! I really think examining the girls under HPS is a very bad idea, also - clip a small leaf, and use the light on the scope.

Did you clip a small piece of one of the buds? You need to actually clip into a bud to examine the trichs in the core of the bud rather than on the outside as they develop at different rates, depending on the lighting. I made the mistake of only examining the trichs on the little sugar trimm'd leaves and thought they were all cloudy. I still had a lot of clear trichs in the actual bud and the high wass strong, but short and wasnt as pleasant as I would have hoped.
