Hey Pakalolo - Hey, I'm glad your here posting and I'm a follower of yours. Read your exchange with Weyenot about posting here and I'm glad your around. I get plenty of chirp chirp (i.e. silence or no love) on my build thread but that don't matter me none. There are plenty of good chaps and good advice. Frankly I like the posting pace better here than some other sites and that is fine by me.

Organics, coco, vertical whatever... I like following people I like. if that makes any sense.

Thanks for checking in. I haven't stopped by in a while on your thread. With all the digging and building going on over there sometimes it feels like my back is hurting. I know your more excited then me to get that room up and running. I'll stop by soon and check out the progress.

I don't have many followers on this forum but that's okay. My other two grow journals located at other places have lots of activity. This is definitely a much slower pace.

You're right, organics can be as simple as mixing up a fully amended soil and using only water, or you can spice it up with SST, ACT, plant extracts and sprays which can make is not so uninvolved for sure! Its a labor of love for me so its not a pain for me to mix up batches of brews or spend hrs inspecting the soil and adding topdressings, I actually get lost in it and people wonder where the I went! Basically like you said its about how far you want to take it and Im one who loves to see the extra sparkle some SST puts on those buds and praying leaves from some aloe juice;)

Since nettles are so prolific when you weedwhack them down you can add them to a brew or put them in your soil or a compost pile, so many awesome uses! The bocking should spread from the rootstock so it should move out of it original spot and give you lots of organic matter to use similarly to the nettles. In my opinion a yard full of dandelions and other wild flowers is much prettier than a boring grassy one and much more useful but thats me; what do you think?

I salute your good taste! Come to think of the dude, Im probably due for a revisit; so much hilarity crammed into one film:)

Those shots of NP are amazing, makes me want to eat it almost! Id be honored to grow something that awesome

It sound like your learning fast and identifying what you need to change next time you sprout; water less for the most part and compensate ( o and keep those dang varmints away from your babies! ) for the dome if you use it again. Id say your next attempt will go much smoother after what you've learned so far, so those babes you've got coming along should do well.

Keep your head up dude!

I'm still keeping it simple with what I'm doing. I've started changing up my soil mix and I have a new recipe that I'm going to put my Chemdawg into. It has biochar at around 10% so that is a big difference from what I've been doing. I inoculated it with kelp, EWC and some other amendments and let it set for over 2 weeks before adding it to the mix. Now it is sitting in a 10 gallon pot growing miniclover until I decide to transplant it.

I used nutrient teas (usually kelp and neem seed meal) every 2 weeks or so. I've only used SST for sprouting and not watering. I have done any foliar spraying except my IPM sprays but not to feed. ACT is mainly to jump start the micro herd when I mix up my soil. I did add another ACT at transplant but I'm not doing that anymore. My plants are healthy and growing better than bottled nutrients. I'm figuring it will take about 3 full grows for me to get comfortable and understand my soil like I do my plants.

I'm looking forward to spring and gathering up accumulator plants. I don't try to keep my lawn like I'm living in the suburbs because it is impossible. I've got tall trees that shade lots of lawn and so being in the woods it is full of moss. Where is does shine it still has lots of moss. Shade or sun I have lots of dandelions. Along the edge of the woods I have lots ferns and nettles. So I would be whacking the nettles down but this year collecting them.

My 21 year old granddaughter is living with us while she finishes her last 2 years for her nursing degree. She watched BL with me and laughed her head off. It was the first time she'd seen it and liked it too. I'm waiting for the 13 year old grandson to get a couple of years older. There is so much f'ing this and f'ing that in it. I know he'll like it too.

Yeah, the NP is an amazing looking plant. Maybe I'll find something like that in the pheno hunt.

I think I'm making good progress on my switch to organics. The humidity dome is really a clear plastic 66 gallon storage container bought at Target. I put the top on to keep the mice out of it but in hindsight that was as big of mistake as water the seedlings like they were clones. I've learned that lesson from the plant like always.

I thought spring was around the corner because the hazelnut trees were showing growth and the could see color showing up in the branches of the trees around here. And the grass was showing growth but last night we got about 1" of snow so that will confuse the plants and slow them down. The snow in the PNW this time of year will be gone either today or tomorrow.

Cool, you're welcome to lurk, post or talk about whatever. I'm easy going and like to read what others are up to.

Yeah, organics in most forums are like the red-headed step child that gets no respect. I'm cool with that too. I'm not here to convert anyone. I'm just telling what I experience and maybe it will click with someone else.

I started looking in the forums to build out a DWC grow. I ran across a couple of organics post and followed some journals and now I won't grow any other way. Doing this on and off (mainly on) for over 40 years I know the right grow technique for me when I read about organics. Now through my first organic grow I'm learning how to do that. I'm not going back.

hey Pak..

just popping in to say high! :tiphat: :smoke:

hope the seedlings pulled through ok..

Good to see you AW.

Seedling report with pictures coming tomorrow.

The over watered seedlings of Mazar x Guerrero, Goblin Queen and Cascadian Frost are all recovered and growing again. I need to baby them another week or 2 but they will make it.

The latest seedling where I'm better experienced after the rookie mistake are 2 Halo 2X, an Overload and an Original Diesel are all coming along nicely and will be overtaking the over watered ones.

What I've changed up in seed popping is my clone soil mix of peat moss : EWC : pumice in equal parts. I'm now getting the soil moist not wet when I plant the seeds. I'm still doing my SST sprouting but I did plant the Original Diesel straight into the soil without any soaking/SST and it came up just this morning.

The biggest change is I now water with a spray bottle and probably giving them about a tablespoon of water into the clear cups.

Hey Paka - re: BL... Your avatar is what drew me to your thread! ha. The BL is one of only a couple of videos I've bought on Amazon Prime. I watch it from time to time when the kids are not here. There is a good documentary on the BL phenomenon.

I'm more Walter than the Dude, but I do have a little dude'ness in me ;)

Yeah, BL is a great movie. I watch it every now and then. It starts out funny and just keeps going. I have no Walter in me and I've always like John Goodman. I'm much too mellow to be Walter and I don't drink.

It took me awhile to find the avatar but it conveys the fact about me that I have gone through my life with the grin and a joint. The Dude is so laid back even when he's getting his head dunked into a toilet. I'm just as laid back too. When people ask me the typical, 'How are you?' I honestly reply, 'I've got no complaints'.

You're always welcomed here even in a 'Walter' moment.

The weekly grow shots. This is the end of week 7 for Mildred and Trainwreck. They both look like they are coming to the end.

Here's the seedling report for the seedlings.

The one the lower right is the over watered Goblin Queen. On the lower left and upper left are Halo 2X. On the upper right is Overload.

You can see the tags but the left is over watered Mazar and the right is the over watered Cascadian Frost

This one just sprouted out of the soil. All I did was plant it without any soaking or SST treatment. It's an Original Diesel.

I transplanted my seedlings so here they are:

Goblin Queen

2 Halo 2X

Overlord

I've also got a Mazar x Guerrero and a Cascadian Frost. I'll get all these pictured this weekend.

I'm taking down Mildred and Trainwreck this weekend but I'm leaving the seed branch growing for another week. I want to insure the seeds are mature.

both if its not too much of a hassle. I like hanging pics but certainly want to see them up one last time before you chop 'em too.

My club volleyball team in college was named 'Pakalolo' Our setter was Hawaiian and came up with the name. Fond memories. And The Big Lebowski came out my freshman year I think? It was and is a great movie. :)

Hawaii is where I learned what pakalolo means. The college must not have been in Hawaii. Or it was quite a liberal school. Anyone who likes 'The Big Lebowski' is welcome here anytime.

It's Friday night and I have pictures. I'm taking down Mildred and Trainwreck because I want to clean up the flower area and get ready for the next round.

First up Mildred. I've got another plant in the teenager area so I haven't lost this one.

Mildred

Mildred branch

Mildred bud

I'll be taking this lady down this weekend. I'm thinking Sunday night after the grand kids head home. This will stink up the little house where I'm curing her.

Next up is Trainwreck. I've got a plant in a gallon pot but I haven't put her down with the teenagers.

Trainwreck

This plant is producing fat buds. Mildred is slim compared to Trainwreck.

Trainwreck seeds

I'm going to leave the seed branches on for another week.

I've got a lot of babies on the way. All but one are from seeds. I'm looking forward to growing these out. I'm hoping for all females but I won't know for awhile.

Goblin Queen

This was my over watered plant and it did stunt its growth but it is starting to take off now. It has a little leaf twisting but I think it will go away. It is also showing some different coloration in the leaf. This one will be interesting to see how it develops.

Halo 2X

Another Halo 2X

Overlord

Neon Purp

This girl is going into a gallon pot this weekend.

I watered with a SST (sprouted seed tea) a couple of days ago and I think I'm seeing new growth as a result of the watering. Here is another seedling that was over watered but recovered quickly.

Mazar x Guerrero

Looking at the center you see a spurt of new growth.

I forgot to get this one.

Cascadian Frost
