My Friend Bent the Main Cola - WHA TEH FUH???

Hehe - I am brand spanking new to horticulture so I have a Mentor helping me. Last week he comes over to take a look at my setup. He seemed fairly surprised I had learned so much on my own.

Apparently, to show me I dont know anything.....he reaches up and bends the main cola of my largest plant down probably more than 90°. He stated that it will release hormones and let the other flowering tops catch up.

I digress, at any rate I just wanted some input on this to see if it is normal, and if he risked my plant at all doing that.

I honestly dont think he did, it seems to be correcting itself well. Here is the picture

HOw do things look? Any suggestion is welcomed. THanks

What he did was correct. Listen to your mentor he probably knows his stuff. When you bend the main cola, but not enough to break or crack the outside wall it will slow its growth for other branches or shoots to catch up with it. I never heard about hormones but it'll also turn all thos buds that would normally grow together into a single cola into its own top bud or tip.

yup, won't hurt it all, will hopefully increase your yield.
And a very looking grow it is

listen to your mentor.....thats why you call him that!!!! ....as long as you dont completely sever the stem its almost impossible to kill a top by supercropping....It will allow your lower buds to catch up to your main tops....DLB

This plant was folded in half then tied to the stem (slowly so that the stem did not break).

It was tied for 16 days. This is it creeping back up after being untied for 3 days!

Not a problem......

Very nice grow by the way...............

dude that is unreal!!! It is apparently a very determined cola :p -

Thank you all for the great input. Being a newb, I often over-think the process. Its hard cause it is only a theoretical process at this point - anyways, I read that using this supercropping technique it actually increases size of the vascular veins that carry nutrients to the top. I find that quite interesting actually. You hurt it a little to help it a lot I guess

Here is an update.....but I wonder if you might pay attention to the twine I have constructed inside my hydrohut. Are the holes too far apart? Oh, and by the way. These are at day 22 of flowering. Are they up to speed for how old they are or? Thanks in advance!!

thats your first grow!?!?
**** you man!

:rasta: What can I say, I had some free time on my hands :rasta:

I will say that I believe I have found a lifelong hobbie. I recently spoke to my better half about growing some chilis, maybe some tomatoes. Thoughts of exotic flowers like Orchids or whatever crossed my mind too.

I am just intrigued at the whole process of growing something beautiful or bountiful from seed. At fear of sounding ghey, there is something very organic about it. I must have been a farmer in a former life or something hehe.

Either way J-Roc, I hope you find hapiness in your garden too ! :) Go easy

as said listen to your mentor and the oldtimers here sounds like he supercropped your plant i do that all the time. some plants like my ron have thier main tops bent few times lol heres what i do and i'm sure if you ask your friend done. i'll gently crush the inner main stem and bend it over at 90 degree angel as said dont break or tear the stem gently crush it you'll hear it crunch. few hrs after the main top will be pointed upwards i'm sure something happens because the plants i do it on nugs are very hard for soil when harvested

tonight is day 67 12/12 nugs are kinda flufy but have been densing up nothing like the indicas i grow even though she looks nice i'm little dissapointed no real tric production and semi fluffy nugs. i would venture to say 1oz per plant expected yield from 1 gal grow bags they started as gifted unsexed clones.
