For the first 2 weeks of cure I open the jars for 15 to 20 minutes daily and fan the tops a few times with an envelope or folded paper, once after opening and once before closing. This seems to help air exchange and distribute bud moisture. After that I just check the buds periodically for moisture and repeat with a fanning if necessary.

this thread is 6 months old, how you doing these days unagi?
I'll admit I didn't read page 3 posts (sorry but I get distracted easily and would forget..) 80F and 60%RH? nothing to crazy wrong with that but suspect a fan for the initial hanging of the cut today bud/plant, that I consider too short a time 'a week'. don't know if a week could be 5 days (work week:biggrin:) 6 or 7.. Rough trim hang 10-14 days at 70F/60-50%RH.. no fan.. the other stuff about rehydrating and sweating... read here about Malawi Style Cob Curing: by Tangwena, he sweats it good... but patience IS required..

Try packing them in the jar a little. Don't get crazy and cram the hell out of it, but if they are packed in there firmly it will reduce the available air space and cause them to sweat more efficiently.

IME the only people who put fruit and crap in their jars are kids who think it will do something and it ends up molding from their being way too much moisture in the object they are adding.

before re-legalization (early 90's) I had a friend who literally used a spray bottle to spritz his buds if he thought they were getting too dry.

I think it may also have had to do with selling by weight.

He never had a problem - but of course he kept an Eagle Eye on the Bud Bag.
