my buds wont sweat?!

I harvestested a batch a week ago, the temp were 80+ so they dried abit fast. Rh 60%. The buds are crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, but after 48h in jars they are exactly the same, smell has improved a little. But the moisture doesnt spread out again. My rh meter says 60% in the jar.

When i grind up a bud its obvious that there is moisture left in the bud compared to my earlier harvest or weed i have bought.

I dont understand why it wont sweat :/

I've read about this "Sweating" as well, but I've never once had condensation on my jars when curing. Overall, if you over-dry, there's nothing you can really to to reintroduce the moisture, it's gone forever. So you're saying that there's still moisture in the center of the buds? How often are you burping the jars? I do once per day when it's over 62% and then stop after a few days once it reads 65% and toss in a Boveda 62% pack.

I let them sit for 24h and pretty much only opened to take a look at them. Closed them back up for another 24h and the only change is in smell.

When i prepare the buds grind them up to put em in the bowl its just very obvious its too moist for a proper smoke. Is there even such a thing, moisture being trapped in buds?

Brown paper bag when as soon as your stems start cracking then when you jar, Burp everytime you go above 62% Humidity, boveda packs ftw i just ordered a bunch

They should dry out somewhat evenly. Stems are the last to crack so just go by those. The out trim shouldn't be drier any quicker. Might just seem like it is drier due to being thin.

Perhaps you are expecting too much change to quick. 48 hours will not correctly cure that I know of.
It takes time for the moisture in the center spread out evenly
All the while the Thc-A inside the buds slowly becoming THC
As the chemical reactions continue.
Time for the chlorophyll to break down as well.
I'm sure I way oversimplified a process that I'm not expert in.
But what the hell

this 100%

wiht these things the more patient you are the better

leave them in the jar for at least a couple of weeks, maybe checking them every couple days if everything looks good.
after a couple weeks,(depending on how they are going) stop opening the jars
let them sit longer and you will def notice the difference

Thanks for reminding me to be patient. It has worked well for me earlier and will probably do the trick now aswell. God knows i killed many plants when i first began cause i lacked patience ^^

Whatever you do, do NOT try to add moisture to the jar, do not add fresh leaves, or anything like that. You will only end up with mold.

you have come too far to make silly mistakes now
be patient and you will be well rewarded!

that said, i kind of have this thing for wet weed and will usually set aside some of the smaller buds as sample buds to smoke while im waiting for the rest to get a proper cure

60% is very humid, 40% is better. Some people put lime, orange, lemon peels in their nug jar. Moisture can slow the burn but also can be irritating. Depends on the density to make a choice.

How are the buds lately?

They smell amazing, i have one strain fruity/citrus smelling one that is accompanied by a heavy rank stank wich im very happy with! Chupacabra from sickmeds.

My other strain crystal queen is more bubblegum smelling and more of a yielder than potency imo. Potency aside it had a very nice touch because some parts of a few buds got a purple color going :)) will put up some pics later

The moisture is spreading its just taking forever, so im being patient as advised and i gotta say that smell is so intense u cant even smell its weed when u smell the bud it almost makes ur nose burn. Im just amazed!

One bummer was finding a few seeds, that always makes my smile go down a notch but hey that smell and purple color made it all cool

This is the strain i get the most blast out of! Strain: Chupacabra sickmeds.

This is crystal queen from vision seeds, taste like bubblegum candy and looks the way it tastes :)

IME the only people who put fruit and crap in their jars are kids who think it will do something and it ends up molding from their being way too much moisture in the object they are adding.

Mm, no. Sometimes natural tobacco also requires a little humidity control. Lot's of purchased bud is old and too dry, so a little moisture is added over night. It's like a cigar humidifier, all normal practices in the 'smoke industry'.

put lids on jars.
set jars in warm sun (not 90+) for like 10 minutes
take warm jars back inside and let sit
check jars next day and moisture should be evening out

the slight heat from the sun will raise temps inside jar a little but enough to help moisture release from interior of buds

Sunlight will degrade your trichs... just be patient.. I haven't seen your jars, but most people over fill their jars... I use wide mouth quart and half gal jars.. 1 ounce goes in the quart, 2 ounces in the half gal jar... This leaves a fair amount of air space in the jars... I also lay the jars on their side, and spread the buds evenly across the jar so that there is the most amount of air contact to the buds.... later on when the buds are cured and dry enough I will fill the jars all the way along with boveda packs to keep everything fresh

Sounds like you dried them too much the first time, in which case they wont sweat because they dont have any excess moisture left to sweat out. But without feeling the buds its impossible to tell.

unagi, those buds look nice!
i can see how its tempting to haev a taste

as far as the fruit thing goes, it must be an old school thing
i rememeber getting bags of mex back in teh day and adding orange peel to them

i usually try and avoid both light and heat when finishing buds
im in no hurry and i think the end results make it worth the wait
