So it looks like I took this small girl down way to early by her appearance.. Her Trichomes where ALL Cloudy with some turning Amber when I chopped her.. But her Calyx didnt swell up as much..

Flowers have been hanging to dry for 4 days now. Outside is dry, and the inside is slightly moist.. BUT if some of you dont know, ive fked up this entire batch of SSSDH nugs lol.. Smelling them from Afar you get that grassy hay smell, then the Fruity Citrus Lemon Pine Fuel smell comes on.. They also still smell dank as fuck when you start breaking nugs up...

But for some odd reason, the nugs from this 1 specific girl actually smell good lol.. It doesnt compare in anything to your buds Bobbo and Mr Tony. But I tried?!

Hey Dakine,
Yeah you may have needed another week but yeah those look nice brother man. Not sure if I've gotten the hay smell from the SSSDH from chopping too early, it might have something to do with your drying/curing? I have gotten the hay smell you're talking about before though. Just my .02 and trying to help.

I'm gonna chop mine around 9.5 weeks, I'm seeing mostly cloudy with some clear but also with some ambers around too. I want that heart racy, trippy, paranoia, mind frying high-I think I get more of that high from my SHJ.
Maybe your pheno's don't have that huge swelled calyx look upon chop, doesn't look like she does. How long did you take her?

Oh you can call me out on what ever you think is causing the smell bro. I even have a thread in Harvest & Processing forum here and nobody can really even pinpoint it.. Ive been trying different methods out since I had A few different harvest times of SSSDH since I ran some clones to...

The mom of the clone I just harvested had pretty big calyx while growing. But not after dried lol.. The very first small tester girl I flwoered outside was about 2/10s the size of the 2-big moms I just ran recently. But the small girl had/has MUCH bigger calyx..

So the girl I just chopped was actually taken down right at the start of the 11th week of flower.. All the other clones and the 2-big moms where all around 12weeks or more. It was weird cause the calyx didnt really swell up, the hairs didnt retreat back into the calyx lol, but I could tell the quality well appearance was going down the longer I let em go...

Even though alot of them where showing those characteristics of being done, the trichomes where mind fucking me raw.. At 10-11 weeks I had 1/2 clear,1/2 milky, and some but not many trichome heads turning amber lol.

It was confusing the shit outta me.. But thats prob because the enviroment inside was crap compared to outside.. The clones I just chopped from outside are better in every single category.. I even dried a small outdoor plant with the indoor stuff and the outdoor flowers didnt have A grassy or hay smell AT ALL. They reeked of goodness!

I actually trimmed some wet and didnt touch the other, in order to try and figure out what my problem was exactly yah know?

Multiple people have been telling me to make sure the flowers are done completely drying and ready for cure before 7 days.. They say 7 days is way to long and will lead to mold/mildew, and most likely my nugs would smell grassy/musky if they where wet for that long..

Then theres some other guys who are telling me that 7 days is fine, and that they hang there flowers up to 12 days max..

Sorry for asking questions in your thread Bobbo!

I wet trim up as nice as I can, then hang in a box for about 3-5 days right now at this time of year, then the buds get chopped off the stems when they can just about barely snap off and they go into a jar. Burp the jars on and off for a couple few days for a couple few hours at a time. Every so often I'll open up the jars to burp and check them out.

Are you letting it dry out enough before the jar, are you putting it in there when its too moist? If you're, take it out of the jar and put the buds on paper plates for a few hours until they dry up some, put back in jar and start the burp process again.

What were your temps like in the grow? I have seen my plants with too much heat or light intensity stress that wouldnt swell proper.

They shouldnt be to moist at all bro.. I make sure that the outsides of the nugs are completely dry, sometimes there very slightly moist in the middle.. BUT after they hang, they go into A brown paper bag to bring out the moisture from the middle evenly. I honestly think this SSSDH batch is way to dry, but they didnt dry to fast.

EDIT- Tony I live in Hawaii lol . I also ony have an exhaust fan pulling out hot air and no fan thats pulling in cool air.. I do have A huge oscillating fan in the tent though. But During daytime my temps where around 84-86, night time was about 76 F

Just mention that cuz in our cure some terps are more volatile than others.
Sometimes I have burned em off ha, left a ruby red branch hanging in my tent on accident for two months, that thing got me wasted but tasted like wood. lol
A blast of heat at the end can do a job let me tell you, had a fan fail (not really my stupid ghetto tape fell off ha) and temps got to 110+ one time, that batch took a real beating taste wise.

Hmm, not sure bro. How long do they go in the bags for? I trim off the stem, hang for until snap off stem pretty much then go straight into a jar. I then burp every day for a little bit and try to follow Simon's thread as much as I can kind of lol. If I see the bud is too wet/moist, I'll take it out of the jar and put it on paper plates for half the day or something-then back into the jar. Check in the morning and see how it's doing.

Hey Dakine,

The SSSDH is my best yielder.

Thats damn good to know Bobbo! So this thread wont ever die lol! Suprisingly I yielded 5 ounces from the 2 momma plants from seed and there clones inside and out! I really want to keep clones of the #1 Bushy mom, but her buds are just to airy indoors and outdoors. Although she does yield more, or looks like she produces alot more budsites then clones from #2 Tall&Lanky girl.

Ncali you got some nice girls bro!
