My autos at 18 days outdoors. Am I screwed?

Much better, and I don't see any pistils or bananas yet! Autos seem to have a developmental clock rather than a purely chronological one; before they hit a certain stage, they don't seem to flower.

you should never transplant autos, just start them in a big hole or in their final pot

transplanting them really decreases yield

I just started an auto in a small cup and I intend to transplant it. I can usually transplant with no shock whatsoever; let's see if the time in the little cup does indeed affect its final size.

Your soil looks to be super wet all the time. Are you watering or is it raining?
Other than that, those plants look normal for first 25 days from seed.

You may be right, but there are issues of degree. My first grow in 30 years, Samsara ultraviolet indoors, yielded 2/3 oz/plant of dried semi-shaggy buds. They were germed in paper towels, then small dixie cups, then drink cups & finally into 2 gal pots at 4 weeks. The only time they seemed stressed at all was when they got dry.

Daylighting thanks for the possible good news. I was wondering if the seedling stage was prolonged, would the plants delay flowering as an off set. That sure seems to be the case.

Mr Jay everything else you've said seems to make perfect sense. I have 10 autos going, all in 3 gallon grow bags. 6 plants are in one location, in Happy Frog filled to the top. I will not put those in the ground. 4 plants are in another location. I ran low on soil so I only filled those bags up 1/2 way. I will most likely put those in the ground. (slice the bag up vertically and cut the bottom out and plant it bag and all) Again, I will keep you posted.

Yes the soil is damp in all the pics. Rain is the reason. I let them get pretty dry before I water.

Yup, mine delayed flowering by a few days, and I now have a female flowering in full swing. She's extremely dense, but short, and in the four or five days she's been flowering, has really put out tons of branches. There's hope for her yet!

No it doesn't. It's actually better to grow them in smaller cups/pots and then transplant them when they show sex.

Transplanting autos more than once will definitely decrease yield. Autos should only be transplanted once and that one time should be their final resting spot.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda...it's all in the learning curve. I don't hold the gold standard by browntrout's reply, but he makes a valid point.....

If you can plant every few weeks (stagger), you'll see what a difference temps, light and soil (be it warm, damp) does and notate OPTIMUM conditions from your trials and tribulations next year!

As long as you don't expect a gargantuan harvest....AF plants are rather resilient IF not dwarfed by over fertilizing, critters munching on them, etc.!! I've had some look like crap, puny in veg stage only to take off in flowering given the diligent care we all bestow on our plants!! And several times these last few years, I've accidently bent/broke cola stem indoors due to my clumsiness....side/lateral branches took off and performed well. I don't recommend 'pruning' as a choice for AF's.

Bet you'll be successful!!

C'mon DRY spell!!

Tru dat brotha aridbud. I guess we shall see. One thing that won't hurt is a nice sunny dry spell. Wish I could share a smoke with all of you. The strain I am most interested in is the Think Different. Super auto is what they call it. By the end of June we will know. Check back for progress photos.

My experience is very limited, but I'll definitely agree that pruning AF's isn't a good idea, other than maybe the lowest least productive branches. The plant has put a tremendous amount of vegetative effort into the growing tip. With photoperiod strains, removing it can be compensated for with longer veg times. Not so with autoflowers. Just let 'em grow!

This is a great thread guys!
I put out 12 autos on April 28th and they look just like the ones the OP posted in post #19. It has been super rainy and damp their first 3 weeks. I have them in old/used/flushed FFOFsoil in 3gln pots so its damp soil for sure. Im worried they wont yield well either.
I have 150 auto beans so I'm just getting ready to plant 25 Super Purple Kush's where they get sun all day long.....and 25 SPK's where I have the first 12. I bet these ones I plant on May 25th in the same spot, do better than the first 12.
Im glad you all talked about AF's not liking damp soil. Ill make sure to add alot of Fox Farms chunky perlite to the mix for airation.

Perlite will definitely help, but perlite holds water too. Not overwatering would be best. :) Some growers use a wick to lower the water level in their pots. This might well work for growbags too.

Checked on the girls today. Wow, they are really taking off. They are 4 weeks now. It rained really hard again last night. So far not looking like the wet soil is bothering them. Maybe the mold will set in due to the wetness but for now they don't seem to mind. looks as though they may have started to flower. Lots of good advice from everyone. Thanks

Alone, don't give up on your first batch, they may suprise you.
