My Afghan Kush Special (and clones)

3

3vol

Hello everyone, My name is 3vol (wanted the name Evol but it was taken) I am an aspiring breeder. I have made some new strains years ago but I stopped for a long time and am now just getting back into it.
I am currently working on a new autoflowering version of afghan kush. I have my mother AK selected and took clones. I am in the middle of flowering the Mother AK at the moment. I am using LED and CFL only because I believe LEDs are the future of growing and want my strains to do best under that type of lighting.

I'm currently running a Blackstar 240uv to flower the Mother AK and a Solar Storm 400 for the Veg room. I will use the SS400 to flower the clones but I just wanted to see what the BS can do.

these are the Vegging clones (and 2 autos)

Very lovely plants indeed.

Your approach to the market seems logical. LEDs will rule because of the cost of energy.
(mind you, I am veeery happy with my 600W HPS as of right now)

I have only begun to study the hybridization process, how P1 and P2 are selected and many
F1 seeds are made, and how the process changes as it goes (i.e. eventually one is selecting
"rows" rather than plants)

If you were to detail this process as you went, then I would certainly be along for the ride.

Who am I kidding.....I will be along for the ride in any case. ;0)

Good luck,

JD

Thanks for following allong. I wanted to let you know I changed my name and started a new post so please foolow the new one because this will most likely be deleted soon. here is the link. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=5646368#post5646368

@javadog dont get me wrong I LOVE hps but I dont like the fire hazzard and heat signature they put out. The electric bill can get out of hand with them also. I have just started using LEDs in the last 6 months but so far have gotten good results. the yield wasnt as big as I would have liked but I was only using 240w now I'm up to a 400w and I will also use the 240as additional suppliment lighting. so I'm hoping that I get the same results on yield as I would with a 600w hps or more. I can say that my buds have never been denser than with LED.

Yeah, hammer them with all the light you can. I have been running WOS AK for about 6 months or so and the thing I have noticed about the strain I am running is that phenotype is everything. I am running about 100+watts psf of LED and the biggest factor in getting yield is the phenotype once you have the rest of your act together. I know this from running the same cuts multiple times. In fact, the most dense flowers of all were on a plant that was the farthest from the light, which says it all to me. I am really new to indoors/LED and one thing I didn't realize is that I would get so much density on some plants that the buds would easily mold... I guess I am saying make sure you have good air flow! Anyway, your garden looks real nice and I will, check back in.

As I wrote, LEDs already rock on the issue of cost of usage. I applaud your efforts.

I am too new to talk about how dense my buds are :0) but fwiw I have two LEDs
supplementing the flowering spectrum in my tent. They are Kessil 350s and they rock.

This is another thing that LED panels often seem to do well...they mix up the spectrum
of the LEDs. Many are switchable.

Good stuff all 'round.
