What's new

My 2 Malawi

This was planted about september 1, now over 90 days from seed at 11/13 now. It seems to be swelling up and not growing up and trying to suicide into the lights.

Bad lighting for pictures they are not that washed out green colors.

I read somewhere in these Ace forums that some of these Sativa's like to be watered daily but with small amounts. Not traditional good soaking and waiting until somewhat dried before re watering.

Once I started that I started to get more bud swelling. Could be coincidence of course.

I am also cutting back on feeding. It's not growing like mad and in no need of mucho nutrients.

I was hitting this plant with 1.2 EC a couple times a week. Also in smallish amounts.

Hi Levitationofme,

I would leave the small one at least 7-10 days more.

Ding, It's time and I have harvested. Thick dense buds. Smallest branch with 2 buds on it came in at 27 grams. Very Carrot smelling.
It was not extremely stinky in flower, but I stank up the room doing the harvest.
Thanks to Dubi on that front. Being able to control the smell during flower is great for me. Simple Carbon Filter.
I would have had more yield had I not damaged the stem bending it early on. I also kept it in a small Smart Pot which obviously kept the roots small. It is an excellent day! I have plenty more seeds and a second plant going. The next round will be even better.

Getting ready to cobb and cure a few buds.

Nice grow on the malawi. Im sure you will be pleased with the results. I sure was. My malawi got me higher than ive been in 5 or 6 years. Definitely good work by the ace crew.

...hope that cob works out for u too. Make sure to slap us up some teaser pics!

I specilize in plant abuse in my efforts to controll growth. I split the stem (dumbass meister) after I topped it and bent it. That and small pot.
Ace has great genetics. It grew great buds anyway.

These are two Ace Malawi regular females I started from seed 11:30 on/12.30 around the same time as the grow here.

The taller one is around 22 inches and has nice lateral growth at the bottom and looks to be really solid bud. The shorter one is roughly 17 inches and is a single cola type plant with a blunt top like a Hindu Kush or similar and the buds appear to be less dense.

The taller one looks as though it will yield at least twice that of the shorter one and definitely appears to be of a better grade bud too (won't know that for sure until after sampling, of course).

These pics are almost 3 weeks old, I'll come back with some more recent shots in coming days/weeks (and I'll try for better quality pictures too).

Taken day 85 from first appearance above ground. First pistles/pre-flowers appeared days 35-36.

I haven't grown Ace Malawi before so I'm not sure how much longer they have to go. But if they were indicas I would expect to be harvesting in another 10 days to a fortnight, which would be days 110-115 from seed, give or take.

Sorry again for the low quality pictures.

Peace
