the 400w is too hot in there, as i havent really got that much extraction sorted out, ive just got a small 4 inch extractor fan, and no intake fan.
Plan is to try 250 twice, then after summer, if successful, move onto 400. By then ill have to upgrade extraction and stuff

The 250 seems to warm the room just fine, and i can get that light real close to em aswell.
I think summer will be the real test for me, when temps are high. Hoping these ladies dont have too much hot weather to deal with. Hoping to learn as much as i can before the heat kick in..

Nutes are going to be H&G soil A+B.

HI,sticky i wanted to share with you that SSH could be a great feat in new growers life. i only cultivate SSH/Hym-gold and white widow at this point and do really well with GHydro as my nute's. i like having full control over the three part mix. i wait 4-5 weeks before putting them on a quarter strangeth mix and have yet found that they need anymore then this "untill they tell you". Im a big fan of Cal-mag and beleive it to help alot. If you have any questons ill try and help out. good luck !

With regards to ventilation, I've grown in small spaces before with a 400 and had trouble with heat. I've heard cool tubes are good, I'm looking into buying one for my next summer grow.

Cooltubes are not that good. I have 5 sitting on a shelf right now.

A ducted lamp is probably a better route to take.
Mine has kept my grow cool in spite of my 600W HPS (+ 2 Kessils)

I agree a 4ich air cooled lamp would be better for your heat issues. This is what I use. I believe mine is a "sungrow". I would keep your system at a 600watt setup. This would be your best option in my opinion.

Sorry lads so you reckon a 4ins extractor is suitible for a 600watt in the summer? sorry but i dont agree..i have a 6in extractor and temps are ok now but in summer they will get higher big time...Peace

i reckon a 6ins fan conected to a cool tube would be good at extracting the heat but i bet there light output will be shite

I only want to add that a ducted fan is good for temp control.

....and I add this because the transmissive qualities of cool tubes seem to have detractors.

(I think that the shape of the glass distorts the light in some undesirable fashion, but
I am getting beyond my reach)

just wanted to add a few helpful things, the plants should start showing their balls or pistils, most of the time they show after a month or so and after I think the 5th or 7th internode. Theres a very good sticky on pre-sexing by freezerboy. Also before you start flowering-transplant to final container and Wait about a week so they can settle in. I cant state that enough. It makes a world of difference in yeild. They have to be healthy when placed into flowering.You are doing great. Remember less is more in feedings until they show you they want more by yellowing

Hi there Javadog i agree i use an air cooled shade myself..i just mean everyones growroom has a different enviroment and a 4ins would never work for my situation..a need 6ins rvk for my extraction...peace

I have 6" too. :0)

I made a DIY scrubber and have had zero problems through 1.4 grows.

P.S. I should have added something to flesh out why I had reservations
about cool tubes. I checked and it, and while I am not able to say my newself
whether this is definitive, it was something about the spread of light of the tubes.

Lumens are cut down with cool tubes, because they duct heat.

However, the "lumen" is really just a measure of what "we" are able to see[aka visible light].

PAR [photosynthetic active radiation]is what the plant actually uses. PAR includes light that we can't see such as UV and Infrared, it does include parts of our visible spectrum but not all.

So the question should be: if the lumens are taken away? Is the PAR:..... reduced....... still the same or maybe even increasing...... because heat is falling? HPS and HD lighting in general puts out a lot of useless light so to speak, its mainly translated into heat and not necessarily PAR.

People are going CFL and LED because the fixtures and bulbs are being more fine tuned to a specific color and hence gaining PAR.

Lumens are useful, but not the whole ballgame.

My plan is to flower them in the current 6.5L containers, so they already been in their 'final' pots for nearly a week now. Ill take cutts once they have a bit more growth on em, maybe over the next 1-2 weeks. Ideally, id flwr em today, lol, but im willing to give them a few more days of 18/6 lighting. I know they gonna get tall on me, so id rather be able to control my first grow, even if its a measly harvest, hoping that i do get something to harvest, lol.

Im planning on giving the cutts bigger size pots, and better treatment. Currently, i just wanna get rid of males asap, and send the ladies into 12/12 , due to their length of flwring time, and my lack of smoke..lol

HAd i planed better i would have got a bigger tent.
Id rather have had 3-6 selected females in this tent, rather than these 14 unsexed currently, lol. Im already not happy with how limited space they have to grow in for the next few weeks.

Due to the nature of their flowering lengths, have u ever limited vegging, and went into flowering?
Im guessing they would still give something decent, due to length of flowering phase?

Im not looking for max yield (would be great tho! lol), i just need to see em in flwring action, and take cutts, so i can start selecting a few nice females to try properly next round.
This round is just to give me an idea of how the plant is, in its characteristics and adapting to my grow method and environment.

Ive seen a thread somewhere about 12/12 from seed. I guess i thought if i give em a month from seed, then 12/12 , id still get something decent for myself to smoke. Anything i like, ill still have a cutting off to run properly, in bigger container, and ill know what to expect a bit more, as the seedling should have shown some of their traits.
This is my plan, after loads of reading. all theory , tho, lol.

Whats a good cal-mag to give them in soil?, and how often would it be applied?
Ive only got the A+B, and a bottle of ritzo. lol

I have run seedlings SSH. They do strech but yeild is not bad. Almost like SOG. I was toying with the idea of useing 2x2 rockwool in 5gln hydroton pots I think you could get about 6-8 plants per pot. I do have 12 single plants running now but they had 3-4 weeks of veg. They are 4ft tall.
