mutant Durban Poison x Skunk LST, Grapefruit reveg...

well this is my second real grow. I grew 3 grapefruits my first time, and I did not train or anything, and I didn't veg long enough either, so they did not get large enough to fill my grow space. I only ended up with a couple ounces using 800w, which was pretty dissappointing... I am learning fast though.

I tried germinating a shitload of durban poison x skunk seeds that I got as freebies with the GF, and I ended up with one tricotyledonous plant. I accidentally let it flower when it was only 2 weeks old (I had it in my box with the flowering grapefruits), and I saw that it was female... so I kept it.

here were the 3 grapefruits I grew out... and the baby durban poison.

at that point the DP x skunk mutant was about a week old.

I trained this girl from when she was very small. I also topped her when she was tiny just to see what would happen... since she's a mutant I figured she could be my experimental plant. fast forward approximately 6 weeks. I give you my DP x Skunk. any comments are appreciated. I think I'm doing a pretty good job at training... I'm trying to get a ridiculous amount of tops since I have 800w to work with. Only using my 400w metal halid for vegging right now though. I'm gonna keep vegging and training this girl till the revegging grapefruit catches up. It might take a while :chin:

I'm really hoping she speeds up, I think I just stunted her growth when I accidentally flowered her at week 2 and then topped her...

pics of the revegging grapefruit will be along eventually. She was the best pheno out of the 3 I had. It took a while but she's starting to grow new shoots everywhere. At first the new growth was deformed and stuff, but its starting to look pretty normal.

looked like a normal seed, from what I can remember. when it first popped up from the soil I was pretty suprised.

Strange that it was the only one that germinated too... When it was small, it had some deformed leaves. Now, only some of the branches have these deformed leaves, and other branches have completely normal leaves. very strange.

ah.. well here we are after a much needed winter break. I didnt see the babies for 3 weeks or so, and was pretty surpised when I got back... they had grown a lot but there was obvious nute problems, which I determined was high pH. I treated the soil with pH down and foliar fed with orchid bloom nutes.

this is the durban poison x skunk, I had to prune out the lower branches yesterday because it was just too thick and there were too many tiny leaves and shoots. It's been really hard to try and keep the canopy even... after being gone for so long two dominant shoots kind of took over and I had to keep them tied down and let the others catch up.

DP x skunk #1

two humpty doo hazes (red cups), one random dank seed (3gallon), all unkown sex. THe humpty doo haze were extremely stunted due to pH problems, but new growth is healthy on all plants.

grapefruit reveg... what can I say... looks alot better than the first time around. Very healthy, and tolerated the high pH soil very well while growing. Now that I have adjusted the pH, it's growing even more vigorously. this is about 2 months after harvesting her the first time...

now, I was wondering... I have about 4.5 feet of vertical space (after taking pots and light clearance into consideration) for these girls to grow into. At the moment, the DPxSkunk and Grapefruit are both about 1.5 feet tall with alot of shoots. When should I flower them in order to get the most out of them? I dont mind if I need to veg for another couple weeks, but I dont want them to outgrow my space either. Maybe I'm just overestimating how much they're going to stretch...

here's some pics. I am now in about day 10 of 12/12

first up is my grapefruit reveg baby. first is a shot with the sidelighting turned off, second is a closeup of a flower, third has sidelighting on.

now for the Durban Poison x Skunk LST!

side lighting is turned off in the first two pics, third pic is closeup of one of the flowers. That isn't the main shoot, but its nice.

oh, and the random bagseed and two humpty doo hazes both turned out to be female.. 5 happy girls ^^

I've been feeding with PBP bloom (2.5-2-5) because it has alot of K and my DPxSkunk seemed very hungry for the potassium. Before I flowered I hit it with some high P (11-35-15) orchid bloom ferts. All past pH problems seem to have been corrected. I will test the runoff pH next time I water.

here we are at day 12... the nodes are really starting to 'splode with pistils. I "supercropped" a few shoots on both the DPxskunk and GF, the result seems to be very dense and full growth in the treated shoots. It doesnt seem to be stunting the plants at all.

Grapefruit!

DPxSkunk!

random bag seed plant... no training due to time constraints and the fact that the DP and GF had a huge headstart in veg. just gonna grow straight up.

comments or questions, plz?

thx.. I kind of wish I didn't top her so young. I would have liked to see the trifoliar growth from the main stem... all I have now is a bunch of shoots with alternating nodes.

whoa, didint realize you had a grow journal until now lol. Your plants are looking good though, how much do you plan on yielding this time?

I dont quite know... I think about that alot actually. I know im being really optimistic but I'm shooting for about 3/4 of a lb. I'd be happy with 8 oz though.

I can see that these things are going to be some big shrubs, I'll keep my hopes up.

oh, sweet... It's definitely something I'd experiment with too if I knew what I was doing beforehand.

I wouldnt even mind if some of my bud had hermie seeds.. I'd still grow them just to see if another trifoliar girl popped up.

hey buddy, going to be following this great plant ive grem'd the durban x skunk 1 and got 7/10 to pop where yours a freebie from gypsy i heard everybody had bad germ rates

yoO... my DPxSkunk were freebies from seedboutique, so I'm not sure what breeder they came from or anything... I just know the store. I recieved about 15 DPxSkunks with my order of 4 female grapefruit beans. Out of all those durbans, only 1 germinated and it was the trifoliar girl that I've been experimenting on for a long time. I tried several methods of germination and none of them worked too well... tried warm water, paper towel method, and just putting them in moist soil. I'm thinkin it was just a shite batch of seeds.

I need to get some more pics up cause these girls are making excellent progress in only a few days time. Perhaps tomorrow.

Day 15 12/12...

ok I decided to not be lazy and update now.. I think it's fun anyway. If only I could get credits toward my degree for doing this.

ok I got a shitload of pics so let's see what I can dig up... First up is DPxSkunk.. I think when I supercropped a couple of the taller shoots it really helped even out the canopy, and I noticed increased growth at the growth tips of the shoots I pinched.

Grapefruit! looking sexy as always..

and the others, far less mentionable.

Random bagseed

Random bagseed in 3 gallon and Humpty Doo haze in 2 liter... the Dpskunk is intruding in the pic with one of her ridiculous shoots on the left.

close up of the stretchy humpty doo haze from the 2 liter...

closeup of another humpty doo haze I have in a 3-4 ish liter pretzel container I had lying around.. lol.

woo! what do yall think?

Here and staying! Just got the DPxSkunk as a freebie. I'm just going to try to germ all 10, see how many pop. Then I might give the plants to a friend. Don't want to gift bum seeds. Be interesting to see how it finishes.

later, flip

update! day 25 since going 12/12. everything's looking good... The grapefruit and random dank seed seem to be putting out some trichomes while the humpty doo haze and DP are still chilling a bit.

Humpty Doo haze is supposedly an australian landrace, and DP x Skunk is probably almost all sativa too... maybe they're just gonna take much longer to mature. I dont' care though.. everything's looking good. I've been having minor nutrient problems... it's hard trying to feed all these different babies.

For some reason the DPxskunk always looks like it's hungry for K, and it actually seemed like it needed some N too. All the others have been responding well to whatever I give them. The GF appears to want a little bit of N but there's only minor yellowing of really old three fingered leaves.. I gave the GF and DP a little bit of blood meal just for slow release N. I'll feed them PBP full strength next time I water.

without further rambling...

Humpty Doo haze... the less stretchy one..

well I stopped posting for various reasons, one of my roommates didn't l;ike the idea of me posting pics. thanks for the kind words anyway.

I ran into alot of issues with the tapwater pH, nute lockouts, overfeeding. I was pretty bummed out actually cause I really f'ed up using PBP and stuff. I also was unhappy with the soil because it had a large amount of peat and vermiculite and hardly any drainage. In addition I had light leak problems which caused some reveg to occur and really stunted them bad. all that together took the piss out of my plants, srsly. They did fatten up a bit towards the end though.

I had to harvest the GF around day 52 cause it was burnin up real bad. Final weight was around 1 oz. Durban poison was harvested at about day 60... weight was around 1.5 oz. With the other 3 babies included I ended up with about 4 oz dry. Well below my goal, but I have another grow going and I am going to prove to myself that I don't suck.

I am gonna start a new thread for my new grow, which hopefully will turn out much better since I have been applying my knowledge from reading here and trial/error as best as I can.

I got 10 powerplant, 3 feminized opium vegging at the moment. actually 11 powerplant cause one had a twin that I seperated and it is growing on its own now. I am using all organic soil ... around 33% peat, 25% coco, 25% perlite, 16% organic garden soil. as far as additives go I have bone, blood, wood ash, rare earth minerals. im gonna try to post often but I'm kinda busy lately.
