mum/mother - how to start cutting clones?

I need help, a have a friend in need of advice, my friend needs to take the first cut of clones, from the plant my friend wants to start using as a mum/mother plant, there are 2 pics of it below, front and back views of the plant, this plant is a cantarela clone, it's about 4 weeks old, the tallest of the stems on this pics is 20 inches tall from the top of the soil to it's tip and under 240 watts of fluorescent tubes.

The problem is that I am not sure where my pal should clip the clones from, how far down should he clip the plant too? Should he just take a few clones from the side shoot? or should he just clip every single stem and bring the plant way down?

Can someone please look at this pic and provide advise on where to clip? my friend and I really appreciate all the help we get from the IC forum members, thank you in advance, and my pal wants me to post the question and the pic because he is to paranoid to post the pic and question from his computer himself. :rasta:

I have always done perprtual grows and never kept a mom,but I think this is what I would do.Being that the plant is rather sparse I would use the whole thing for clones looks like maybe 6-8 cuts then I'd keep one as a new mom.I'd do some research on fimming or tying down to produce a bushy mom where you can get plenty of cuts every cycle.

Top it and she'll bush out for ya.

Take as much as you want, just make sure you leave some nodes.

I'd probably yank 4 - 6 clones off that girl, if not more.

They don't have to be big.

please i am desperate and unsure where i should take the 1st cuts, should i just cut all the clones i can get starting from the top of the plant and working downwards towards the soil? and stop cutting when i reach the 3rd nodes from the soil up?

Thanx major pothead, I did read that post a while back and it inspire me to make a mum, great info in that thread, but I need someone to say, well clip it here, clip it there, leave that node, etc.

But I think I get the idea, I'm just gonna cut all the tall stems down to say the first 3 nodes from the ground up and clone it all, then i wil take one of the clones and start to build a new mum, and start the LST on the new MUM asap.

thank you IC community for the good tips.
