Yep running a little longer than I thought"okay todays the day" always worked out best for me.I know because I'd pull a few buds that day and compare them to the ones I pulled 5 days or so later and I was always glad I waited.I never felt the "amber trichs are a more tired high" syndrome,to me amber trichs were a sure sign of finishing.I'd usually go with a little more than half amber and the rest cloudy,no clear trichs for this kid.Degradation of trichomes is part of the maturing process IMO.Your drying/curing techniques differ from mine though,I always found a smoother better all around smoke the longer I took to dry and cure them.I even go to the point of hydrating them a day before I chop them to make sure they don't dry out too fast. You have to be aware of possible mold issues though I learned and have good humidity/air flow control when you go that route.Whenever I had a 'hay" tasting plant it was a strain/phenotype issue never a curing issue.Have you had that hay smelling thingy more than once on difference strains?
