Hey everyone
Thought I'd share my latest creation with you all! This is also my first grow so I would love to hear what you think!

The Box:
2 18gal rubbermaid tubs
6 23w CFL's
1 65cfm 120v AC fan

The Soil:
6 parts soiless mix (similar to sunshine no.4)
2 parts perlite
2 parts worm castings
2tbs/gal Lime
1tbs/gal Blood meal
2tbs/gal Bone meal
1tbs/gal Kelp meal

And the most important part, the seeds!
They are Cinderella 99 from Joey Weed

Here the plants are at 1 week:

These guys were started 12/12 from seed. Ideally, I would like to end up with 2 females and proceed to SCROG them.

Plants are about 4" away from the light at the moment. Average temperature with the lights on is about 82 degrees. Lowest recorded temp so far was 70 degrees and highest was 86 degrees.

Now I have a few questions,

When and how much do you think I should start using the ferts? I have Schultz 10-15-10 and Fish Emulsion 5-1-1.

Also, how do the plants look? am I on track for 1 week?

Cant think of anything else at the moment but I'm sure I'll have more questions as things progress.

Peace all! :joint:

Seems like you got enough in that mix to get 'em goin' (but, I know NOTHING about soil...sadly)....I'd hold off on watering with nutes until the cotyledon yellow/die

The seedlings look great....I'm envious

good luck!

dont give nutes until you are at about your 4th node or when you plant shows begining stages of being hungry yellowing or your cotyledon (seed or water leaves) die.. right now they look good for seedlings.. lets see how they look in a week or so..

well i just noticed you added bone meal and blood meal and worm castings. to your soil this can complicate things as they are seedlings. hopefully the mix isnt to hot for them as the nutes in the mix might fry them.. but just wait and see. if you notive burning on the edges of your leave. flush with pure ph'd water.. keep it green

Thought I'd make an update,
here are the plants at day 14:

They seem to be doing great! can't tell if they are male or female yet, but from what I have read, I should be able to tell soon.

Only watered once so far, at day 9, with no nutes.

How long do you think till they need bigger containers?

Day 21:

3 of the 5 are females, tried to get a picture showing, but it's hard with a digital camera that auto-focuses.

I noticed some of the bottom leaves look a bit yellow (it's more like a really light green) is this okay? Last time I watered, the runoff measured at pH 6.4, and I haven't added any nutes yet except the ones that started in the soil. The plants are about 3" from the bulbs and temps don't usually exceed 85 degrees or so.

yeah its alright that the bottom leaves are yellow, they are old you know :D but just be on the lookout so it doesnt spread...have you fed them at all??

Definitely time for bigger pots as well! Great job!
I usually repot at around the size you asked about before, those will be a little root bound.
Are you planning on keeping a male for pollen/seeds?
Good luck!

They haven't been fed with nutes yet. Do you think it's time to start adding some when I water?

I'm gonna go out and get some 8" pots today. Any advice on picking the best two plants? All three look pretty good, but I think theres only room in the grow for two.

Not sure what I'm gonna do with the males, they are just chillin in my living room right now. Thinking I might keep one around for seeds.

Thanks guys!

Yes, they are big enough to start feeding them, just remember to start off slow.
As for the selection, I'd say just go with your gut. You might try the ole stem rub, smell fingers, and see if there is there is one that tickles your fancy.

Hey your looking good.. Id start adding nutes when it had 3-4 nodes.. Spray them daily it might help that yellowing.

dude nice lookin babies. Your good to feed them now...thats probably what their askin for by yellowing those bottom leaves. Actually happens on my house plants too. So i would say a 1/4 stength feeding would be good. It looks like you like organic. Do you have a nute line picked out or are you using a self made tea. If i were u i would give them a little bit of Nitrogen. They dont need much being that they are 12/12 from seed they dont need as much cause they dont really have a veg period but they do need some. I usually am very sparing on the Nitrogen in my case Alaskin Fish emulsion(5-1-1). I also feed liquid kelp and molasses. Thats all i use for the whole grow. I think your mix would really like these and really all you need. Plus foliar spray with the liquid kelp. This is all i do and adjust the nutes as i move through the bud cycle.

Day 24:

I replanted the two nicest looking females into 8" pots, and their growth has really taken off since then.

Floppy: I have the Alaska fish emulsions as well as a general 10-15-10 fertilizer (Schultz brand) that I plan on using. Wasn't really planning on making any teas, though I wonder If I could make a foliar spray from the solid kelp meal I have. Have some stuff called liquid karma as well which I think is about the same as molasses.

When you say use 1/4 strength, are you referring the dosages listed on the fertilizers?

Thanks for the feedback!
Peace

You can go 1/4 strenght of the full dose or if it has a recommended dose for each stage of growth go with that. I think with you having a virtually organic enviroment i wouldnt want to use the shultz. I only use fish emulsion, liquid seaweed, and molasses. I also top dress with bone meal. Pretty much the same as yours but without the shultz. THis is a sample of what i grew...

nice and green...all organic. Either way good luck.

Aww man....in my opinion DON"T EVEN THINK ABOUT PUTTING IN THAT SCHULTZ STUFF..
You started off so well, I thought you were going to use the blood and bone meal.
For now they are looking like champs!

On second thought, I think you guys are right. I already started with organic soil so I might as well go all the way. I'm going to do a little more reading up on organic fertilizers.

Herbglaze: It sounded like a great idea because of the limited space of a micro grow, and so far, I would definitely recommend it. Wont be able able to tell for sure until its all said and done though.

keep on posting them dont be shy haha. Looks like atleast one of them is gonna grow great in the 12/12 method. Looks like it should branch a good bit. Do you have any other pictures of the interior of the plant like the last one. Those should end up yeilding pretty good if there both like that last pic. Great job keepin them green.

peace
