Hey try the hyrocotison shots in the spine first. Two of those helped me. I got two herniated discs (severe) and a genetic birth defect (spondyliothesis). I'm supposed to have two discs removed and threee vertabrae screwed together with a titanium cage.
The sciatic will last about two years b4 it gets better.
Just keep in mind that once you have surgery, it will never be "all good" ever again.
If you aren't already try sleeping with pillows between your knees and ankles. That helps a lot.
As far as the sciatica ,believe it or not, vodka actaully completely cured my pain- only this certain brand called Takka (spelled wrong). One or two shots and a joint and you'll feel fine. I've found several chronic bank pain friends of mine and this certain brand of vodka really works. (and i really don't like alcohol- but it worked and i tried everything else in the world).
The cortisone really helps too. Just don't lift anything heavy ever again. I couldn't even lift a milk jug, or stand in line at the grocery store. It was soo bad i'd have to sit on the floor in line cause of the throbbing hip/ankle/knee/shin splint/foot sciatica pain. Levels of pain i never knew existed.

Had also an discal hernie, i had to have surgery but i did not want and after one year of hard pain ( sciatic from back to toe) i got better and now after two years it almost ok, just a little tension in the leg and pain when i work to hard.
As it has been said don't lift anything heavier than 10 kilos, don't bend your back, don't sit, avoid long car riding .
If you make love to your woman, i would advise you to do only the backshot position as other positions could hurt you more ...
Of course good indicas will help you to relax your muscles and for pain relief.
Be strong man i know how this pain is awful and a long fight but don't discourage it's going to be better one day .

First and foremost i'd really like to thank each and everyone of you for taking your time and sending all the get well wishes and info!! I had my lumbar epiderial injection today and i'm not really feeling any difference as of yet but they said it would take a day or two. Anyway i've got to see the surgeon in 2 weeks and see what they gonna do, but anyway thank all of you again for checking in on me and sending the good vibes my way, i sure do need something now besides being bed ridden and on total disability, sure is a huge blow for me being down i've always been wide open and love being outdoors. You all take care and thank you very much again for all your kind words!!!!

Well fellow icer's and friends i have had my epidorial injection and to tell you the truth it was painful for about 2-3 days afterward, now that that pain from the injection is gone i really can't tell any difference? I have talked and heard from others just like SuperZero and i have come to conculusion that it's just a money racket to pad these doctors wallets. Even in the brochure it tells you that it may not help, so really what is the use to have it done? Anyway, again it's really good to hear from you guys and hope you all are doing well! I hope you will get fixed as well SuperZero and we will keep you in our prayers to man! Take care friends and it's been really good to see all you guys check on me and leave all the good and positive thoughts!
