Plants are home alone all scared right now...scary grobots watering them...
Yeah this is a bump post for a buddy...while MGJ is away...now where's that key to the liquor cabinet?
Is the film called Westworld or something like that, (Yule Brinner?) where the robots got out of control and turn on peeps? Wonder if MGJ will regain control of the plants on his return, sorry all, stoned again, talk of growbots got me pondering the closet situation.
Hi guys - thanks for checking on me! Just pulled in, great vacation. Checked on the girls and I have some good news bad news. First the good news.
tw 3 and 6, hung to dry at day 65 were jarred tongiht. I thought that 10 days would be a bit much hanging in the air, but luckily the stems snap but only 90%, so they didn't over dry. Here are some pics...
tw6
tw6 and tw 3
tw3 bud
Yippee! I got bud! Tasting a little green, time to burp those girls for a coupla weeks. Took about 10 grams to tide me over, rest I hope to let sit a while.
Bad news, I underestimated the water requirements. tw 1,2, and 5 ( Wispy ) seem ok though a wee bit dry, unfortunately tw4 is brown and crispy dry through and through - though the degree of dryness and brown color didn't come through in the pictures...
tw1
tw2
wispy
tw4
1,2, and wispy are in the dark now for 1-2 days ( all trichs cloudy with a few amber on 1 and 2 ), and then I'll hang them to dry. My question is - did I screw the pooch on tw4? She is crispier than burnt toast . Should I bother trimming and jarring her or should I just do a rough trim and freeze her for bubble/kief?
Anyway, good to be back in the comforts of home, no medicine for 10 days, yuck... gotta get started on catching up
I grobot
packn - the key for the liqour cabinet is in the mail - my 'shine is your 'shine! Thanks for the bump buddy!
GMT - Yul Brenner was great as the killer robot in WestWorld, really like that old flick!
Sorry about your girls, it was your first run with the bots next time you'll know better so don't worry about it.
The weed from 3&6 looks good, how much does it weigh now it's dry?
Good luck with the remeigning (hmm that spelling looks odd but can't think of another way ) ladys! Don't worry about 4. In the end it was your first run so what you have now is allready excellent and I'm sure it'll get better with more experience.
Glad everyone enjoyed the holiiday mate. I'm terrible with actors real name's/speling of. The 48 hours of dark is an issue of hot debate right now, it seems to be emerging that heat is the biggest thing to avoid at the end rather than light. I know for most of us that is pretty much the same thing, but I just take em out of the cab the day before harvest. You have done a cracking job mate, and I know your next run will be even better. I think you've got the right idea with the charred plant, glad whispy pulled through. Between all the frosty leaf, and a whole plant, you'll get a decent amount of bubble, (and you need your money's worth out of them bags). You've got bud to last you too. So is that it now till next April? Are you going to turn into old mother Hubbard now? With a bare cupboard.
I dont think you ruiened it. Smoke a bit and see if it tastes really green or nasty. If it is decent for uncured bud. I say Cut off all the off colored leafs/bud (off colored meaning orange or brown or yellow only keep the green part) Then after a month or 2 of curing if its still nasty try to rehydrate the buds with a few and I mean few like 3 drops of bottled water will remoisten the bud then do another cure till its dry and it should taste better. I have got a bit of weed that got me real high but smelled like cut dryed grass. I remoistened it in this fassion and it smelled decent. At least it lost that grassyness.
Hi Alex, thanks! I suspected something might happen while I was away which is why I hung 2 to dry before the trip as insurance. 3/4 of the remaining girls are plenty fine, might have lost a few days fattening, but other than that they look good, I'll have plenty of bud and trim. I got 4.2 oz / 120 g from the first 2 jarred plants - I was shooting for 2 oz / plant, so I'm very happy about that. I should average close to that for the remaining 3 good ones, so should have at least 9-10 oz all together, maybe a bit more. With the lst if I didn't have so many big stresses slowing them down I believe I could've gotten 30+% more yield. 0.6 lb first grow - - more than I hoped for! And to think if I include the weight of the fried plant, it would've been .75 lb. The bud's are a little harsh now, so I'm going to leave 'em curing for a while.
gmt - thanks very much mate, so nice to hear that from a grower of your caliber! I hear you on the heat, makes sense, I turned the lights off more to keep 'em from drying out furthur until I can get to hang them, which may not be until Thu night - been busier than a one legged ass kicker since I got back.
No Mother Hubbard for me - yet . I'm going to do one more run before I switch to winter vegetable mode. I've got 2 goo, 1 trainwreck, 1 morning star ready to go, they've been veggin from 2 mo ( the goo ) to 6+ mo ( tw and ms ). Plan to veg 'em until they're 12-16 inches then flip. Once I flip I plan on germing 5 Amnesia99 and just keep them under 12 hours of light - by the time they're sexed and get to be honkers I should have the others harvested.
gpb! - Howya been buddy? Thanks for stoppin by! Man, that poor fried #4 plant - the camera just can't capture how it looks. Every single bud has the color of coffee light with cream - not a green tinge on any of them. There are a few green leaves here and there. I tried smoking some - they have a little of the lemony taste, but do taste strange compared to the other plants - can't put my finger on it. I was thinking of making some kief anyway, I think this plant will give me 50-60 g of trim/bud to use, plus the trim from the other plants - I'm guessing I'll have 100 g of trim and bud, so if I'm lucky I should get 7-10 g of kief - sweet !
Time will tell, I'll know more end of next week when I jar the rest of the plants. My estimate of 7-10 g hash, .6 lb of bud, is way beyond what I thought I'd get for a first harvest when I bought the tw clones.
Folks on their first run - don't worry too much if the plants suffer a little. Flow with it and nurse 'em and you'll be happy. These girls were flat out abused a few times, and they still gave me they're all.
Mr Gj
Sorry bout #4. I Agree with said above form GPBowl. try his method of re curing them nugsz.. from 4. Anyhow the rest look great.. How much dried weight? for the rest..
And the legend of whispy lives on. And will continue to live on.. ..
Anyhow great grow Mr Gj. I had fun watching and learned along the way.. Thanx for sharing with us all here.. Great work.. And Good luck on the next go round.. Ill be looking foward to it.. Peace..
Hiya gog
Hmmm - frosty - frosty freeze - I think I got the lemony diesel flavor I'm smoking the lower branch I pulled at 50 days, it's already quite nice - zippy but not racey, mostly in the head, a little harsh/green but not bad considering the short dry/cure. Can't wait to smoke the 68 / 78 day plants, but hope to let 'em cure a while first.
Vacation was great - Carribean cruise courtesy of my inlaws. Very relaxing, lots of great food, hot sunny weather. Read 2 books I've been waiting to read - Timescape by Gregory Benford and Rocheworld by Robert Forward - both great hard SciFi books. Sure is nice to be home though!!! Missed all the great folks here! :friends:
Hi sacko! Thanks for stoppin by! Yup, one way or the other #4s ( nicknamed crispy ) trichs will be consumed... It's all good. Although I'm guessing 2 oz per plant ( not bad considering largest plant was under 2 feet tall ), but I'll post the final weights when I jar them next week.
Thanks for the props man, been fun for me too, this old dog learned a lot of new tricks this grow, thanks everyone for your input!!!
Hiya sleepy - glad to be back. Vacations are nice, but I really like coming back!
Ok, enough philosophizin - here comes the vape - You have a quart jar with your name on it up front!
Couple of things I've noticed - trichs must come off easy, none of the weed I've bought at the clubs has the sparkley appearance of home grown bud. woohoo!
Second - each day when I open the mason jars for breathing, there's a little bit of vacuum sucking the lid tight. Wasn't expecting that!
Man - too bad about Jimmy Doohan - read he had bad Alzheimer's the last few years. Liked that cat the most of the first crew...
I need a vacation too..I'm beat..
So you come back and the plants had formed a band, "Crispy And The Crunchettes" ..The I Grobot Tour
Oh well if it was gonna happen better at an advanced state of flower, then way too early...at least you have lots of tokables..
Yup - and I need another vacation! Let's fly to Nepal!
Crispy and the Crunchettes ROTFLMAO - man, you crack me up!
Yes, they're none the worse for wear. Have to admit, haven't found the time to clip and hang the others yet - been way to busy this week. Hoping to get to it today or tomorrow. The jarred 65 day is already starting to smell less like chorophyl and more like adult lemonade!
Transplanted some of the girls for my next run. 2 Goo, one TW, and I got my grubby mitts on 3 cali-o clones, veg 2 and mother 1. Soon time to scrub down the cab and put these young ladies in.
Will post some pics when I jar the last 4 tw... Thanks for checking in and giving me a good chuckle!
Ok - today is day 84 , and I hung them to dry. Have good news. gpb - you were so right man. TW4 which appeared super dryed out, after 2 days in the dark the buds moistened and greened up quite a bit, so I harvested the buds and jarred them. Here's what I got, the sample bud looks very pretty.
Next tw1 and 2 and both hung to dry
Now tw5 - aka wispy - she did very very well... Here she is, and then a shot of the 3 of them hanging - wispy is in the front.
Next weekend I'll jar them and give a final weight.
This thread is approaching it's end. Thanks to everyone who hung out here, I am thankful for the great company and the great info folks shared. After I clean out the cab I'll start a new thread for the next grow.
