That's what he needs though.

You don't just kick its ass you gotta put in the slave labor early and not let off with the slave to the plants mentality until it's all converted in to cashish, but dudes popping seeds and sitting on packs so his equation is already messed up

Fuck being a cheerleader I rather be helpful

not sure if i should till in the cover crop on my mounds? it's been growing since last year and is really thick now. and if so whats the easiest way to do that? i want to prepare the soil for planting. might send in a couple more soil tests too because i want to see how much variation there is among the mounds.

Still need to get soil for the next transplant. 196 seedlings going into 5gal pots... i need about 4 yards of soil for that. I dont think i can get a bulk mix delivered in time (hill is too muddy) so might just have to buy some bagged stuff like black gold or Ocean Forest. What's best for this?

Also need to decide what soil to buy for the new mounds we are adding. sounds like HazyBulldog and TheOutlawTree both have mixes in the works, any more word on either of those? Or i could order my own coots-style mix like i have in the past, which has worked with mixed results. The final option is to buy a commercial mix from somewhere like Rare Earth or Buildasoil , or just get more bagged soil.

any suggestions are greatly appreciated as always

Last year leadsled suggested I grow a cover crop that I dont till in, to help draw out excesses. Just wanted to throw that in there.

My soil just got delivered. It's hot, so if you go my route order up sooner than you need it. I am letting it soak up this rain, and I will send it in for testing late this week or early next week. Looks great, feels great, just gotta see how it tests now.

Didn't you make some super uber soil that you were recommending people just order on a whim?? Came hot? Soil yard fuck up ot???

caterpillar, got any tips on what to do with / how to prep my mounds that have cover crop growing in them?

or should i just irrigate any necessary amendments and then leave the mounds alone until its time to plant.

So many ways to skin a cat.

If the soil is pretty decent, chop and drop the cover crop. Then layer on some good compost mixed with whatever amendments you want to add to the soil.

Compost is so beneficial. Keep it moist and the microbes should break down the chopped cover crop and fresh amendments feeding the soil and rejuvenating the micro life. Pile of nice compost, couple shovels, no fancy bottles needed.

Cut the cover crop down, order some worms add those, put down some kind of protein and spray them with rejuvenate and all the microbes to start breaking all the stuff down and then on the next time you water them to keep them moist put 1% pacific gro down and that will make your soil go fungal dominant and help humification

Cover crop isn't really a companion plant, if it was me I'd just turn it in completely and cover with a fabric mulch and put the drip under that and cover that with enough straw to keep the sun off

But that's just the way we found work out the best for us when we were doing outdoor. Now I grow in 20 gallon pots so it's a different game now

shcrews, he meant chop and throw out. as in let the cover crop draw out all the excess and then remove the cover crop and dispose of it. the Q i would be asking is, what nutrients will the cover crop give my soil if i kill them? everybody always speaks about tilling cover crops for N but obviously you get other nutrients, and what are those? hillmizer seemed to have high K from leaving his plant trimmings. seems like decaying vegetation is a good mulch though. but theyre growing so you already have mulch..

hazy do you mean temperature? ive never seen a big order that wasnt temperature hot... you should just throw some in a gallon, irrigate it good, and send a sample. i cant wait unfortunately. i think i'm going to get a slightly modified version of the same coots mix.

Off to a good start this year!

Been having good results with rinsed Roots Greenfields amended with 15% topsoil, micros, and Vansil. Should be fine alone just rinsed. Posted a test recently of it fresh out the bag.

Gonna be running some Chemical Weapon, Gas Leak, and Cherry chem clones along with some various kush cuts.

This year I settled, hoping for less manual labor........

I took a mix my hydro store offered and beefed up the bone meal and gypsum, took out some other ingredients. They mix it fresh, so when it was delivered it was already heating up.

Also, I didn't recommend anything on a whim, I clearly told everybody to wait for me to test the product first........ You don't understand, soil is hard to find here. This isn't the emerald triangle.

The soil yard did deliver 15 yards extra, but didn't add the extra 15 yards worth of bone meal....... So it looks like I will be hand mixing 50 yards anyway........

You know about that added bone meal and gypsum right? Talking to the gyp and bone masta!

What Cat said, plus gypsum.

Lead sled with his grow cover crops then chop and discard is a waste of time IMO. Gypsum or lime in the fall, put a ton of water through it, then test in the spring. That will get rid of the excesses, while raising those Ca levels.
