Mother Room Setups

Greetings.

About 6 months ago i was given a seed plant and hastily set up a small mothering area. Literaly just a pair of 40W 4' florescent tubes hung in a normal closet, getting air flow maybee 30-50% of the day. Obviously not an optimal solution. Whenever i harvest and bring my plants from the florescent to the flowering room with the 400CMH, they all perk up, start growing, and all in all make me think my veg room is horrible :)

But i'm going to fix that, i just cant decide how exactly. I have the benefit of having a spare bedroom to do all the growing in, although because its rented i dont want to make any permenant modifications. My current flowering room is a Homebox L. For a mother room i only need enough room for 2 or 3 mothers, and then space to get my next flowering cycle of 7-9 plants ready.

First obvious solution might be the clonebox from the makers of homebox. My only issue here is i will be back to florescents again, There is always the option to remove the shelf, but then why buy the clonebox the shelf is the only thing that makes it unique.

The next option seems to be the Secret Jardin DR150W. Has enough space for a 2x4 tray(which i have spares of anyways, always a plus). I'm thinking i could hang a 250W over one 2x2 side most of the time, just keeping the mothers happy and thriving. Or maybee just a 150 for 3 moms? My flowering room will soon get a 600W upgrade, so i'm thinking i would be able to swap out the 150/250 for my current 400 for a couple weeks when i'm vegging out the new clones to go into the flowering room.

Any opinions? Is the clonebox actualy much nicer than i'm thinking? What size lamp for 3 moms(i actually only have 2, but always plan for more:) One last question, with the 150/250 might i be better off with a parabolic hood, or a standard air cooled? Ventilation will be handled with a 6" elicent fan so plenty of air movement.

floros are not always that bad, try getting new bulbs... when i grow ust rooted clones i put 3 2x40W floro units in a row, side-by-side-by-side and my plants seam to enjoy it.

the mothers though... u need a space where u can have the clones next to a tall space where u can hang a 400or-600W MH bulb.... mothers abosoluely need HID...IMO.... id get a 3x3 unit and have the mothers in the corner, the 'spillover' light might be an issue but putting the mothers on the ground and clones on the top of a rack in the hut would be ideal.

Hmm, perhaps more density of the flourescents would work. 80W over 4ft that i have now is really low. running 3 of these side by side pushes up to 240W but i think i agree with you that the moms just arn't going to be happy with florescent lights.

I do have a 3x3 hydrohut i could use(well, the frame anyways, that cover seems to be slightly poisonous). I'm not really trying to run 4-600W on the mom room though, my flowering room is a single 400W right now, soon to be 600. Perhaps dual 600 but not till fall. Is a 250 just not enough to keep em happy? I plan to keep the moms fairly small(perhaps bonsai), i will need less than a dozen cuts a month.

you could put 2 more dual 40W floros on each dise of the moms, that might be sufficiant for adaquate light penetration.
