most silent 6" exhaust?

I always just cooled by small 250HPS tent..which was in cool basement..with 2 4" axial fans. Temp and environment were perfect. Now tent has to go in a detatched garage on wooded side of house. Not in sun blazin. I also want to up to a 400HPS. I doubt the axial fans will b enuf with the 250..nevermind the 400..being the tent is now in detatched garage. I would like to replace the axials with a sufficient silent 6" exhaust..what do u guys recommend? In summer the garage ambient temp about 80. I also run an osculatin fan and a tower fan in tent. Thx

Best bet is to size up and use a speed controller to dial it down. Also you can build an insulated box around the fan and use a muffler on the exhaust.

Edit: Just checked out that s&p fan. Looks nice.

Some do, and some don't, depends on where you order them from. I get mine from hvacquick.com and they came with cords.

Even if the cord does not arrive, it's a really simple wiring job. Here are a couple photos of an S&P TD-150 I have sitting around. All I did was take a computer power cord and chop off the female end.

Here it is wired up on 'high', notice the green ground is just tucked away.

Here's the inside of the lid.

No fan is ever going to be "Silent", as in as quiet as no fan at all.
As for wiring the cable, every duct fan I've ever bought, had a little sticker inside the cover of the wiring box, showing which is Live, neutral and earth.

CanFan Max 6 is similar tech to the S&P. I use mine with a lumatek 400 and a Canlite filter. Uses very little power and has speed control built right into the cord. At the price it can't be beat.

S&P TD500 Silent

Most silent shit you can get. Pretty costly tho.

what's pressure like.. as looking at the chart, it looks like it's not really designed for long duct / carbon filters..

please let us know, as I am interested, it seems nice, but I can see from charts it's not got the "power" of other inlines..

EDIT: ok maybe I'm wrong, it looks like there measured with different ways???

Any high quality (Canfan, Vortex, Elicent, S&P) can be made very quiet by:

-Insulate your grow area, and have the fan inside it.

-Carbon filters greatly reduce noise

-Insulated ducting reduces noise

- They make fancy mufflers, but I've also seen DIY muffler designs using a "tube" made of hardware cloth (wire mesh) wrapped in pillows. It actually worked surprisingly well!

Tent will b in garage. Thinking of exhausting majority of heat up into rafters..maybe keeping the main exhaust fan up there in an insullated box..? Old grows i used my tent in a basement using a 250HPS using only 2 4" axial 112 cfm fans and passive intakes..and a tower fan in tent. Temps were always low 70s. I wonder if i use a 250 in garage instead of 400 if i fan use same exhaust setup with axial fans..and maybe add 1 more. Idk

It's probably going to vary a lot from season to season - even a shaded garage will build up heat in the summer and get cold in the winter, unless it's well-insulated and/or connected to your house's heating/cooling system. What may work in the winter might be totally inadequate in the summer months, so you might want to take that into consideration.

I'd probably go a little overkill with the fan and dial it back with a speed controller. That way you can always increase the fan speed if you need more ventilation. And insulated ducting, bungee cords (or other vibration reducing tricks), and a box for the fan will all help with the noise too.

fwiw- i use a 6" badass blower by advanced nutrients. it is really quiet. i mean really quiet. i have it mounted inside my tent. i can barely hear it from inside the room. i am exhausting a 1000w in a 6" blockbuster hood. i run it at about 70% and it does a great job getting the heat out.
that said, i dont think because its an AN product its better. it may be over priced also. i got mine for cheap and am glad i got it. works better than other 6" i've used previous.
