Here we have the stretchy Mossy's Jem 3

Day 58

Mossy's Jem 3

It's only been about 30 hrs since pollination. These plants respond quickly, and it appears that the pollen is taking!

This Mossy's Jem is also interesting in that not only doesn't look like it has any purple in in, but the leaves are way skinnier than the other 2 Mossy's Jems growing in the cab.

Are you aware that I run a 600hps cab for my head? and that I run CFLs and AFs 100% because I enjoy the hell outta them?

makes good sense to me, more nutes, more dirt, more work n effort plus the bonus of a higher plant count-

Yep sounds like more fun to me. Guess I don't like buying bud either.

You grow your way, I'll grow mine.

Go buy your $20 grams and please stay out of my thread.

If you have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all,,,Move on.

HEY BLYNX!

Those leaves on the bottom are normal and NOT the rust spots I am talking about....They happen on the upper leaves. They only come on to strains that are very picky about any system used, I havent ever had them on the JEMS so I dont think you have to worry about it. Those you have are from lack of availble light lower down on the canopy due to your CFLs. SO NO WORRIES!! they are loving the system and working much better for you!! Im gald you have tested this method, makes me happy when Im able to help someone.

CHECK the MY SECRETS thread for an update in a few mins.

After I took the pics I was wondering if they were just regular dying fan leaves.

This is the first run in this new small CFL cab. After I see how it turns out, I will definitely tweak number of plants, arrangement, containers, etc. The four containers fit in the cab so tightly that its kinda a pita to pull them out to water and take pics.

M

mossy

Yeah..just spotted the rust post myself and was gonna ask.
I haven't seen it on JEM and I am outdoor..so I was worried.
I put them up against anything for Hardiness/resistance.
You made me break out in a Sweat...:biglaugh:

That JEM day 58...
It may be white..but it is carrying a Colour indicating trait.

If I had an all white grow and needed colour..
she would be the one I would pick out.

I like a girl with some Secrets. :muahaha:

Mossy's Jem 5 wasn't growing fast enough for me, so I pulled her out of the cab to give the other 3 plants more room to grow.

I know she's getting old and was already hit with some pollen, but some of her buds looked so inviting I just had to hit them up with some more pollen....so I dusted some of the buds with some 'early' (guerilla gold or manitoba medicine) pollen.

Here's the Diesel Ryder and Mossy's Jem growing using ICC method.

Tomorrow I will be brewing and feeding them their day 42 tea

sweet, they will yield well for you, just imagine if you had a SOG of them under that 600watt HPS of yours, hehehehe. I see some leaf tips burned and curled,, did they touch the light or something? other than that they look killer.

They will love the new feeding you should see an increase of bud set after it.

I will be starting a 400watt SOG soon and make a new thread, I will be doing some JEMS in there, so you can see how well they produce under a real grow light using this method.

Those things look great. Nice work man!

ICC I can't wait to see that 400w Jem SOG you're talking about. An autoflower SOG is my small cab wet dream. =)

The plants were way too close to the lights and lots of the upper fans got nice and crispy so I trimmed them off. I also lowered the plants haha.

I made the tea with 2 tablespoons of Fox Farms POM, 1 tablespoon of Biotone and some molasses. It was bubbled for about 6 hours, strained and fed to the plants.

The light burn made some of the plant parts ugly, but it didn't appear to affect seed production.

Day 75

Mossy's Jem 3

This Mossy's Jem doesn't have any purple in it that I can see. It will be interesting to see whether there will be purple in any of it's offspring.

Here are some seed forming shots of Mossy's Jem x Early

(Early is either Guerilla Gold 2 or Guerilla Gold 5 or Manitoba Medicine)

The Purple JEMS looks the best, got some time left to go on it, those buds will get very velvet looking, swolen when done.

damn sucks on the heat damage from the light! makes them look ugly, and will surely hinder ripening. Hope they turn out ok. So what do you think of the ICC method? Working or not?

by the way what is Biotone? I have never used it with this method so I dont know what results will be with it.

Yea the heat damage sucks but it was kinda unavoidable.

I was used to my 1sq ft cab that has a powerful blower. I can get the plants close to and up in the lights without burning them.

This is the first run with this cab and I need(ed) to find how hot it runs and what's too close to the bulbs.

This cab uses 2 computer fans to move air through the cab. I now see that another exhaust fan would probably let the plants get closer, but I haven't put one in yet.

As for ripening, I'm sure they'll turn out fine, but honestly, I'm more interested in the seeds they contain than the buds at this point haha

I like the ICC method so far, but I think the biggest thing I'm taking from it is the importance of 'light' (physically not fert-wise) soil that the AF roots can rip through to establish themselves so they can explode with growth.

This run has slightly been modified from your method by a couple factors.

1. When I transplanted them from the 6" pots to the Goldfish boxes, I used my regular (re-used) soil to fill the rest of the box.

2. There are no drainholes in the Goldfish boxes, so there will be no flushing (this shouldn't matter because of the addition of my regular soil)

I've been adding Bio-Tone to my soil for a while now.

Bio-Tone is a natural organic fertilizer (with beneficial bacteria, mycorrhizae and humates) made by Epsoma

The soil in these plants did NOT have Bio-Tone in it tho. It was the last tub full of soil that's in the rotation that did not have Bio-Tone added to it.

I wasn't getting a good foam when bubbling the tea so I figured a bit of fertilizer with the bacteria and mycorrhizae wouldn't hurt.

Well sweet man I am glad you are learning something from it, only way to go now is to get better. And you are correct that not so hard compact soil of the FoxFarm Ocean Forest is key to AFs, AFs seem to not like soils that get compacted easily, the more loose it is the better. I have even tryed adding just a small amount of Vermiculite to the FoxFarm OF to get some older seeds going. Works great, but the soil is perfectly fine right out of the bag, no additions are required.

Drain Holes are a must for flushing when you feed the FoxFarm POM TEA. otherwise you run very high risk of getting toxic buildup and burning the crap out of them. Well that and flushing for harvest.

As for the foam when brewing, it is normal to see a light foam or almost none, when the TEA is still cold, if it starts to warm up usually over 75-80 deg. F you will get a foam.

Well you must agree, with all the adjustments and things you did different to the ICC method, 1 thing still remains true, it was/is much faster and results in better AFs then your old method.

Thanks for the updates!

ice cold crickets, would your TEA brew work with any organic bloom ferts? i have some bio-bizz and some ionic bloom (although i sense you're not a fan of chemical ferts) so was wondering if it would work well using 1 of these and a bubbler. i will also need to track down some "equivalent" potting soil here in uk. cheers
