Maybe its just me but, Im always unimpressed with this type of squat plant, takes for ever to veg and then has a small yield. Unlike plants at the other end of the spectrum the high tends to be pretty standard, not bad just a very normal feeling high. That been said I still remember arriving at the normal spot to score an 8th around 15 years old, "bubblegum's" said the guy with a big grin, I'd never heard of it. Got to my mates place and rolled one up, even with the large amount of tobacco we put in back then to stretch out the smoking experience it was unmistakably the taste of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit bubble gum. Not just a hint full on flavours.

I grew out females seeds bubble gum a decade or so ago, had much more of a hybrid structure than these, great yield of strong weed, easy to grow but all plants just had the classic Dutch taste, sweet but not bubblegum.

So keep up the great work and let us know what you find, I would certainly put up with slow growth to put some true bubble gum in the head stash.

I’ve mentioned it here and there but I don’t want to be negative so I stopped saying it but… *wink wink* these aren’t my favorite plants.

As you say though…. Maybe the smoke will blow me away, you never know, whether it’s the high or smell and flavor.

We will see in about 7-8 weeks or so.

I’ve got another identical tent running right next to it with a bunch of Sativas and Sativa doms. Flipped them the same time. Difference is like night and day :biglaugh:

Kind of ro be expected though so that really doesn’t mean anything.

Day 13 12/12

IBG #2 went fully blown hermie on me so I tossed it as fast as possible. Hoping it didn’t ruin my crop but I didn’t see any open pollen sacks as far as I could tell

Im now eyeballing IBG #1 and IBG # 6 as potential keepers. A few of them are looking a little light so I gave them all a tablespoon of fish bone meal and a tablespoon of kelp meal. Watered it in with a light biobizz bloom feeding at 2ml/liter.

Alright so we are just entering week 4 of flowering. We were out of town for 6 days and when I returned the res on the blumats had completely dried out. The bubblegum’s pots were all dry as a bone, but the plants had not drooped yet so I must have caught them in the nick of time.

They are still trucking along slowly but surely. They are starting to stack nicely snd a few of them are in fact putting out delicious bubblegum scents! I’m eyeballing IBG #1, #3 and #6 for my potential keepers. I can’t say I’ve grown them perfectly but now that I’ve ran them one round I know I’m the next one I can do much better. They are just very painfully slow veggers. Just need to be patient with them.

I was eyeing those seeds a couple months back, glad to hear they are getting bubblegummy.

Not sure why but, I thought they would be fairly vigorous:dunno:
Some of them could end up being CHUNKY.

Well to be fair, I’ve heard from others that the plants they got in their packs were much more hybrid like, even Sativa leaning so maybe I just got an oddball pack I’m not sure. Being S1s of an old cut the lack of vigor can be expected, and out of all the plants in my pack they are fairly uniform minus the one plant that is self topping. Even then structure is very similar.

As mentioned I definitely think I could have grown them better but I will give the keepers another run. Then I’ve been thinking I might hit them with some pure Sativa pollen. Maybe a pure haze or ACEs Tikal since the Guatemalan parental line in that strain throws peach and strawberry flavors with some bubblegum here or there. Regardless it would add back some much needed vigor.

All this is speculatory of course until they finish up and I get to try them. Maybe I’ll leave the keeper as is. Who knows :dance013::biggrin:

I had a Tikal female and used BOG bubble to pollinate her. The offspring were pretty awesome. I would be curious to see how your cross turns out. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Seems like a similar combination?

Yes it does seem like a similar combo for certain. My thought would be to Bx over a few generations back toward the bubblegum side, hoping to add a little vigor. First things first though will have to see how the bubblegums turn out on their own. I do gotta say they are starting to stack pretty heavy! Day by day the are starting to pack it on. We will see

Tomorrow marks week 7 for the bubblegums. IBG #6 is the fastest of the bunch and looks done. The others seem to need a week or so more. I’ll need to chop them at all the same time so will probably given all another week and chop them then. Nice bubblegum smells coming off of them. I was gone for ten days on another trip so they were left on water only via blumats. Admittedly I didn’t grow them the best. Will be keeping IBG 1, IBG 3 and IBG 6 for another run.

Two of the 5 bubblegums came down a few days ago. They turned out rather nice I’m the end even with the slow veg time and my mess ups in growing them.

Nice and sticky with some lovely scents coming off of them. Ones a bit more piney, one is a bit more fruity, two are definitely bubblegum smelling and one almost seems like a pure Afghani to me.
