mold and humidity

Hey guys,
My closet is approx 50% humidity during the day with the lights on and approc 70% when the night comes around. I have plenty of intake and exhaust for air circulation, but is the humidity just too high? I am a little worried of mold and bud rot. Since I did LST i have mostly smaller nugs but i certainly have a few huge colas that I dont want to mold. Temps are approx. 80 during the day and 65-70 at night. Thanks guys!

Well I had humidity issues a while ago
You could try heating that area, that will keep humidity down
Or you could always vent your area out of that room, that will help as well.
You are going to get humidity rise when temps drop, especially a 15 degree drop

I dont get it, heating air , I thought increases its capacity to have moisture absorbed in it, increasing humidity.

Back in the mid west, I know that in summer, it was very hot, and the hotter it was, the more humid it got, exponentially .

Please correct me,:spank: Id rather have the right information than go on thinking Ive got it right, and do give some bad advice:bashhead: or do the wrong thing:hotbounce:.

My room increases humidity in the night when the lights come on and decreases when it cools down. When it's hot the room increases in humidity due too transpiration and evaporation from the soil. Also, most people water during lights on, so that extra water in the soil also contributes to an added increased in humidity. This is from my experience, but I don't know if different room setups can create a different outcome. Although, I have grown in numerous places and this was always the case. Could outside environment have something to do with people noticing something different?

When in bud I have found 50% to be safe, with 45% like stated above to be preferable. You could always use a dehumidifier in the room to keep the humidity in check.

the moister is always there when the lights(heat) are on its trapped thus the lower reading when the light is out it is released

In m wardrobe setup it varies between 45 and 55 rh, never had any mould as I have excellent airflow and it's always 24-29 celsius with lights on and I don't remember it ever falling below 19 with lights out.

I've had some mould problems for the first time in the last 2 months in my other space. It's been an exceptionally moist year here in the UK. I lost three quarters of a big Mexican to mould and a few buds of 3 others plants. Temps in this space currently are 22 with lights on, about 14 with lights off, but the big factor is I've switched form soil to coco with daily handwatering, which means there is more water/nute solution beign applied, creating more moisture. I've added a couple of those plastic box filled with chemical crystals dehumidifiers I got for a quid each at my local hardware store and a 9 inch desk fan blowing directly across the plants. It's only been a week, but this seems to have worked, no more mould has been discovered so far so fingers crossed!

mudvaynefan = Humidity and Relative Humidity are 2 different things, its confusing, look it up on wikipedia if u want lol... its confusing as hell haha

I was having major humidity issues wif my 400W room (RH 80+ over nite) ... I have shit loads of air flow and circulation (and i did not see the point in trying to increase the air flow coz i live in a really humid climate and sucking more humid air into the room does not lower humidity lol ... I had slightly low temps too, soooo; I upgraded to a 600W light and got a dehumidifer, the dehumidifier puts out a lil warm air (not huge amounts, sucks out a fair few litres (1-2 gallons) a day and the light adds another few degrees to the temp ... now my temps stay around 27C (80F) during the day and my humidity is usually bout RH 50 (getting up to a MAX of RH 64 but hasn't been that high in awhile) ... So in order to lower relative humidity i suggest raising temps a bit (with a bigger lite or lil heater - which i've neva tried) ... and/or getting a dehumidifier which lowers the RH and pumps out a lil bit of heat (which also lowers RH slightly)

Cheers!!!

Also try bottom watering (capillary) ... Put a dish of some sort under ur pot and poor the water into that so the soil and roots sucks the water up from the dish, this means the roots are still drinking bt there's less water near the surface of the soil to evaporate and coz higher RH levels ... jst a suggestion, depends on if bottom watering would b a hassel for u or not, i dnt do it wif my pots coz i use some big ass pots and dnt wana buy dishes to go underneath lol, bt if u hav smaller pots u can put wat eva under them, tuperware, plates, bowls, ice cream containers etc.

Hope some of this helps :)

Has anyone tried using AN's Piranha as a foliar spray to help combat mold and mildew? They claim that it should clear it up or prevent it from breaking out in the first place. I know Remo has recommended it to people in his UG show for that reason.

Mold/Mildew is our enemy!! It is everywhere...it is in the dirt outside...it is in the air...it is only patiently waiting for all the right environmental components to be there...and BAM!! You have mold--
I just fought it with 600 plants...and after it was there...there was no stopping it-- I used Neem, got humidity down in the 20's...even sprayed with Baking Soda..that shit still claimed 1/3 of our crop--
Pray to the Ganja Gods for no mold... :badday:

I do need to brush up on my studies. But Ill tell you what, I wont look to a book I can edit for facts,

I am picking up what your putting down, usefull info for maintaining a grow environment. :joint:
