Sulphur might not hurt your plants but it's a fungacide if I'm not mistaken and if you're growing organics there are lots of beneficial fungae out there like Mycorrhizae.

Sulphur is used to kill mildew which is also a fungus so it might not be good if you want to encourage Mycorrhizal growth. They speed up nutrient uptake and make the plants more resistant to water stress/drought.

I'm not saying that sulphured molasses will hurt them or anything, just something to consider. (I could be wrong)

allright, I like the way the mollases sounds, but will it work for soilless? I planned on going dwc for my first official grow and was wondering if it would work (if I missed it the posts I'm sorry)

Just gonna put in my $00.02 worth...I used BRER RABBIT, unflavored, unsulfered, on my first grow which was a very large Sativa. Used it 2 weeks before I cut her down, and like I've read here, I could SWEAR I saw her grow buds so fast I was thinking I was seeing things! My smoke turned out great, and read this...."SMOOTH". Don't know if it was the Molasses that made her smooth or the bud itself, but I WILL be using it on my next grow, which I started today. Got some HERIJUANA From Sannies that are in the pitpots and I WILL be using the Molasses the last 2-3 weeks of growth. Hope this helps and HAPPY GROW BRO.!!

Blackstrap is the grade that provides the highest amount of nutrients.
The sugars are also of a different composition in the thicker blackstrap cut, of which is more beneficial to the growth of plants.

Molasses provides cal, mag, iron, and potassium, it can benefit a water garden and provide those elements to the nutrient solution.
It does indeed benefit the condition of soil by helping to feed aerobic bacteria and the like, but I think it can also do the same thing in water at the root zone.

A. Molasses is pure sugar cane juice.

After the cane is harvested and mashed the raw juices are boiled to extract the sugar.

After the sugar is crystallized, the remaining boiled syrup is first molasses. It is light colored, mild and sweet because it retains some of the sugar. This is Brer Rabbit Mild Flavor.

After the second boiling the molasses has a darker color, more pronounced flavor but a little less sweet. This is Brer Rabbit Full Flavor.

The third boiling produces blackstrap, which has a somewhat strong bitter flavor. This is our Brer Rabbit Blackstrap variety.

Another very good post Sammet! I would also like ta point out useing any one micro nute more than others could throw the balance of other micro nutes off, causing lockouts and deficiencys. I know Cal, Mag, and Iron are this way, I assume Sulpher would be the same way (?). It might be a good idea fer outdoors in those areas of the country where there are Sulpher deficiencys in the soil tho (?). Jus thought I'd through it out there. Later, BC

Yeah, good call Sammet. Small ammounts of sulphur will still assist the plants uptake of N.P.K as well as magnesium. In modern agriculture Sulphur is being looked at closely as a very important nutrient. If the soil is in good nick, & plenty of animal composts used S may well be less important, but man does it put a green shine on those leaves.

But to sway a little from the topic of "Molasses",
I have a bag of "Espoma Bio-Tone Starter Plus " contains Mycorrhizae & Beneficial Bacteria ~ My question is, can this be made into a tea,and the Mycorrhizae watered in to the soil ?
Can you have to much beneficial Bacteria & Mycorrhizae in your growing medium?

And will the Molasses help in the establishing/feeding of such things?

Using Molasses along with my other Nutes at this time (Foliar feeding too)
As others have posted the plants are developing a "Shine" to the leaves~very Pretty

wf69, you will always reach a point of diminished returns on any amendment. But, if comparing to a plant that has not been receiving adequate carbs, then yes, additional carbs will increase plant matter.

If you have in your mind that the plant is sucking up the thick sugar and hanging in fat pockets of the bud, then it simply doesn't work like that. The plant changes sugars into more complex sugars that are used in conjunction with other things, like Co2, to increase plant growth.

I use meridian organic blackstrap molasses from holland and barrett cost me £1.70 for 700+ grams ... I smiled when i brought it looking at the cashier thinking to myself "you have no idea"

I just got this stuff myself, only blackstrap I could find as well. I had bought a bottle of grandma's, but really wanted to use blackstrap. Well I gave the girls there first taste of mollasses last night (1TBS/gallon). Didn't notice much this morn, I will have too wait until light comes back on from 12/12......Do u all give mollasses during veg as well?
