Molasses help...

I have been hunting for "Black strap molasses" for about a week. I have found Brer Rabbit "full flavor" molasses. I know that the "full flavor" molasses will work. However I would like to use the black strap if I can find it. So before I purchase the full flavor (found at a local grocery store chain) Id like to know if anyone can suggest a place to look that isnt' online because I need to brew a tea asap :joint:

Blackstrap molasses is a type of molasses not a brand name but you may know that sorry i assumed other wise....you may also try looking in fodder stores for larger amounts....being that it can be used in animal food...possibly even brewing shops.thanks....youve put the idea in my head to go find some tomorrow around here....might try the health food shop....noticed on a poster in the widow they have some pure honey there ...always wanted to try using it for cloning and see what results i get....enjoy your shopping trip.HH.

58FLH, HappyHerb, thanks for the responses. I have tried commercial "organic" stores ie. Trader Joes, wild oats.....However I did not check GNC, and I didnt even think of a home brew shop. I do know that black strap molasses isn't a brand but a type of molasses. If I cant find black strap molasses this round I guess I'll use the "full flavor". After reading the molasses essay done by 3lb I'm sure it will work, just not as good (i take it) as the black strap, as the black strap has more micro nutrients and sulpher?? Owell I can order it for sure online. I never thought of the pure honey for cuts...interesting.....if you try it post the info :joint:

Many months ago I too found out about Black Strap Molasses. Not being able to resort to using the Black Strap I opted for Grandmas, which contains no sulphur. It works like a charm! The smoke is very tasty with slight overtones of a "perfume" type taste. Very enjoyable indeed and I highly recommend it. Grandmas is available at most grocery stores. Try it, you'll like it! :yummy:

Its funny that In my area I cant find grandmas but the Brer Rabbit is everywhere. I have no doubt that grandmas and the rabbit "full flavor" will work...its just you know, when its for the ladies...I want the best.

Happy, I think that would be a awsome experiment. And you are correct in that it has to be raw. I think I'm gonna try this too. I have trader joes and wild oats just down the road from my house so I'll pick some up today. I need to take some cuts anyway and I'll do 4 with raw honey and 4 with clonex.

Sounds like an interesting experiment.
Black strap molasses contains alot of iron and copper.
If you have somethin like Hemochromatosis you should not take this.
It could be fatal.
On the other hand if you are anemic it should help.

You can also go to the local feed store and get a 5 gallon bucket for 7.00.

The Health food store carries Tree of Life Blackstrap. It has the highest # of carbs and Potassium.

This is the one I use. It has Mg, Carbs K (500 mg) and of course sugar. I can tell the difference in my teas using this one over the Grandmas. And also in the plants. The dry version is the best if you can find it. It contains left over organic compounds in it that also aid in the growth process and feeding of the soil micro-organisms.

Brer Rabbit makes a blackstrap.
see if you can go to the place that you got the full flavored from and see if they can order you some of the blackstrap.

What has come to my attention after a little reading recently is the key thing here is that the molasses be unsulphured.
It appeares that sulphur in the wrong form reduces fungal count in teas.
