Moe makes Trash into Stash in Real Time...(iso)

Hey folks, had a heckuva time finding iso to wash my trim today, most places sold out. But managed to come up with 3 bottles. Here's my extraction process in real time. I wash for 1 min, strain thru plain strainer into another jar, then strain that thru a coffee filter into the pan, which rests on a pot of boiling water.

Temps cannot exceed 100C this way...

I started approx. 4:20 (go figure) with the washing process. Used the low Q. trim I had from my gro '07... here's the pictorial so far, will post updates as they happen. It's cooking down now, like the golden stuff, sure beats green.

Hey, update at 7, still cooking - about halfway there, if not a little more. Here's the pics, got a bad storm rollin' in, gonna hafta shut the PC down for awhile.

The vial is a 10'er, weight empty, 9.9g...

Well, we wrapped 'er up about 8:30, the oil is reddish, but looks black when rolled into a glob. Yielded 1.5g, better than a kick in the arse. Better than chucking the trim...

It's a little runny, I never go to totally dry and crispy, as I like to grease my J's with it. It is about the consistency of tar, getting runnier when heated, and thicker when cooled. Had to heat the vial in hot water to get the oil to slide to the bottom.

Edit: Smoke report: I greased up the bottom half of a Brown Sugar 1.25 paper, (glue beingthe top) and rolled a joint of 'mersh for bedtime. Smoked an identical joint of the same 'mersh minus the oil the night before, here's the comparison...

Plain J - Got the usual duration of approx 40-45 mins before initial wane of light buzz. Tasted like 'mersh. Buzz totally waned in approx 1 hour.

J with iso - Nice and intense, initial wane of buzz at approx 1hr 15 to 1 hr 30. Could still feel remnants 2 hours later, but pretty much over. Extreme cottonmouth, flying thoughts. Couldn't give a drop of spit for a million bucks...

Pretty much double duration, double intense, I am most satisfied, and so are the ppl I shared a total of 28 greased papers with today, 16 given to my gro partner, and 4 each given to 3 other trusted friends free of charge. All were impressed after trying just one wrapped around a J.

And like me, they are longtime daily users with a pretty big-arse tolerance level - the quality is there. Never chuck your trim without washing it first...no matter how crappy it looks...

3 glasses-2whit stuf,1whit brown water(couse stuff was soack in it?)

isopropyl alcohol
you can get it at pharmecies or super markets.

its used in first aid to sterilize and clean wounds.

Yep, it's 99% isopropanol. That is the one you want, not 70%, or rubbing alcohol. The 'brown water" is the THC infused iso rough strained into a jar after a 1 minute wash, awaiting straining thru the coffee filter into the pyrex pan.

The other 2 jars of "stuff" is trim awaiting it's turn to be washed and strained. The washed jar does not contain dirt, that colour is caused by dissolved trichomes. Golden/reddish is good, green is bad...

Basically -
1) put trim in jar.
2)Add iso, lid it, shake gently for 1 min.
3) Then strain thru a seive into second jar.
4) Strain second jar thru coffee filter into pyrex dish.
5) place pyrex dish on pot of boiling water to cook down. (Use low heat, electric stove or hotplate. Not gas!!)
6) Wait till done, scrape 'er up...Time depends on how deep solution is in pan, mine started about 1.5" deep, took close to 4 hours to evap...

a few ppl have been made happy so far...heres a pic of the remaining oil today.

awesome posts man. i like the pictures of the process. i have never tried with isopropyl, but i have made some bho (butane honey oil) i wonder how they compare.

Thanx , in my experience, I find butane a bit stronger but both are good if done correctly. I have a baster butane tube, but that trim was too low-qual. to waste good colibri on - mostly dead fanleaves and some clippings...not much visible sugar, so I went with the iso...

I am considering maybe butaning a couple jars of lower stuff. If/when I do, it will be posted...

Hey, another quickwash is underway, decided to go iso again. Washed 43g of airbud for 1 min, solution is much lighter than trimwash was...I smell smaller yield, we'll see.

Thus have a soak on for green too while the golden cooks down. When it's done green will be cooked. I know it's not as potent, but I want every last drop...I have smoked decent green before, hopefully this will be too.

Pictorial so far...gold has been cooking for approx. an hour.

Hey, ventilation is your friend, I open the windows and inside doors letting the breeze pass thru. Much safer than ouside being watched by all my neighbours. Can hardly smell it...

Well, onwards with the results...Yielded 2.3g of caramel, should be pretty good. Will sample later, before a rousing round of UT2K4. Green didn't get done, was roughstrained into a mason jar for later. It now rests in a cool, dark place to be evaped at a later date.

Edit: Looks runny, but thick pan holds heat. Hardens up when cool, does not run...

The vials are available locally. Can get sizes 1g, 2 or 2.5g (not sure which),5g, 10g. Prefer 10g, larger opening. Easier to get the oil into without missing the hole...

Glad you liked the pics. I'm gonna post up pics a bit later of my favourite way to smoke the iso ATM- ashbowls in the bong. Well, until I can get ahold of a g-on-g bell attachment for oil anyways. Might have a new favourite after that...

Like to grease up those j's too tho...

Well, my bud asked me to go out to his place and run some of his trim today. Got there, trim was still damp + rubbery, but went for it anyways. Ran 5 basters w/1 can each, yielding a small amount, as it's mixed trim/fans and a baster - but quality is good, actually very good. 1 oiler shared, (we all know how fast they burn) and was good for a couple hours...

Forgive the little bit of contam in it, it was windy today, and stuff was flyin' around a bit. Got a wee bit of water too, I imagine it was moisture in the trim that froze and passed thru as ice crystals. Of the pics I took, only 1 pinshot came out.

IMO this is much stronger than iso. We are letting the trim dry fully, and then we will resume extraction, lots left. Hopefully it'll yield a bit better fully dry. Here it is...

Well, cooked down the jar of 4 hour soak green iso from the last batch yesterday evening. Hmmm, not too green now, both tastes and works good... 1.5g yielded.

"Black Pearls" was how it was tested, like all oil I have, or make...Mmmm, hashy sinuses...

Hey folks, back again with another round. i have gotten into rough straining and jarring my iso about a week before cooking it. This allows that darn particulate that always seems to get thru the coffee filter to settle and stick to the jar.

Here's the pictorial, she's cooking now. Started at 3pm, should take about 2-3h, the depth is 2x what's in the pic.
