MM x HAZE #21, Punto Rosa, Bruce banner, greens

This grow is a hodgepodge of stuff with new LEDs, new tent, new for me soil. In the summer I bought a bunch of soil anticipating my need in advance. At least two bags of soil had what I’m quite sure was a root aphid of some sort. So.. every bag went curbside and the hunt for soil local in stock began. I found happy frog and espoma potting soil, green bag. I was going to do a side by side with the soils but that espoma is not for me. It feels high in peat, and holds water. It was evident quickly that happy frog was growing along far better than espoma. So..now everything is in happy frog and going OK. I’m seeing the need for cal mag I think now and am working on what to use. Thinking grind dolomite lime and epsoms salt. Going to start experimenting here soon with amounts. Anyone have a thought I’m all ears.
In soil mm x haze 21, punta Rosa, bruce banner fem, seedsman white widow fem, seedsman blueberry fem, humboltnutter budder fem, Dutch passion charlottes angel fem. im looking for some male pollen to hit these with.

Also have watermelons, honeydew, some Asian greens, various lettuces, peppers, cucumbers. Most of these are in the espoma soil and not growing great. The top dries out immediately but beneath stays wet. I think this soil was the one with fungus gnats. A few flying around now.

My temp is steadily lower 70s, humidity is lower 30s. To get humidity up some I added a container of water the intake air blows over. Seems it should add some moisture to the air.

I’m still getting dialed in with watering happy frog. Every three days 2/3 cup of water gets me just barely to runoff. No nutes straight happy frog and rainwater.

Edit for going grey and others: next to the greens is Punto Rosa, then my air intake over water, Punto Rosa, then mm, then another mm. My HID in one end of the tent, next is blueberry that was in espoma until recently. After that is white widow started in happy frog. These two Seeds were planted same day. Look at the difference..

Past time for an update. Things started out slow but have been moving well. Still getting used to watering and new soil. I’ve been bending the tops over and allowing side growth. Seems to be going well.

I’ve been fighting yellowing of leaves for some reason. Assume it’s either watering, calcium, or both. I added in some nutes with good levels of calcium. Hoping that will resolve it. Next step is up pot soon.

I put one punta Rosa under the hid to compare. It’s doing a little better than the led.

Greens are coming along. First harvest the other night. Good stuff.

First images are Punto Rosa table. The single plant is the pr under hid . Follows are the mm x 21 cross on their own table.

The grow is shaping up nicely. I was not watering nearly enough with this happy frog soil. I added espoma gypsum and a touch of tomato tone during uppotting. Yellowing has stopped mostly and things are taking off nicely. Finally got rid of the espoma soil that was growing half my veggies. Left side greens were planted in espoma a day or so apart from the right greens in happy frog.

Below image is seedsman blueberry and a red snake cannabiogen, My greens. Note the watermelons in the back right!

First image is seedsman white widow, freebie. Next a Bruce banner seed I found in the street. Then mostly my punta Roja in the foreground. A friend thought I said puta Roja. Big difference.... background left is the BB and. Charlottes angel Cbd. Background right is the mm x haze 21.

The PR in the very front with the claw leaves is a finicky sob. Same soil, same measured amount of water, same everything but it claws, wilts, and does not seem happy. It seems the same pheno as most. Six plants and two phenos.

Lastly is mm x 21. These are doing better now as well. It is weird how similar plants and likely the same pheno react differently.

I think I have 2-3 different phenos. One plant smaller with yellow leaves in the middle was an experiment using yet another soil. Happy frog is now everywhere in the grow and will continue to be.

Man oh man... plants have gone ape shit in a good way! They loved uppotting and the nutes. I’ve got watering down quite well, got humidity dialed in. A couple weeks I think I’ll flip to,flower, maybe sooner by the looks of things.

First image is a view of everything. Most of the front are PR. In the back corner and back wall are the mm x21.

Next image my greens, a red snake on left, blueberry right. Behind that are two ka5h just getting started. Next image is all PR. Nice jungle of stuff.. Next is my two best mm x h21. Looking great! Another view of the PR jungle, with a few mm in front. Next is Bruce banner, just growing along, then a white widow that has a bit much earth worm castings looks like with the dark leaves.

Thanks sticky. I have 5 gallon fabric pots ready to go. I usually use them. For a while I tried to go direct into five gallon fabric. It worked but works better up potting. I almost bought two gallon fabrics. But I had these things which I think are three gallon non fabric already so didn’t.

Next step five gallon fabric with fox farms ocean forest and 12/12. I’m going to get my second tent going and move the ka5h and smaller plants there to veg for a while. I was going to use that as male tent for pollen. Not sure yet how to work this. It’s a good problem to have though!

@TexasTea

Today is fabric bag uppotting and tomorrow light goes to 12/12. Finally got my second tent setup. Lot of work when you can barely walk a flight of stairs.

Last view of the jungle before uppot. I’m going to do some serious trimming and arranging.

Also view of the new tent. I put the hybrids in there and will put in the flower tent after sexing and room opens up. One is white widow, the one with weird leaves is nutter budder. Not sure I’ll grow this one again. Or maybe for gummies. One more is my cbd. I left Bruce banner in the flower tent. I’m going to get seeds from her.

The one long stretchy plant on the table is a red snake #3. That thing is growing like crazy! It’s a fine plant with serious sativa growth. Two seedlings are my cbd . Two with leaves are ka5h.

I’m going to leave the red snake the way it is and just keep bending the top. I’ve started doing that this grow and the lateral branches grow much better. Later is a jpeg of a beefy PR I bent over. Guessing it’s a male but the branching is great in my opinion. Im not a fan of removing plant material and think bending is a less intrusive way of achieving the same goal, for the most part. I don’t pull fan leaves or anything like this either. The red snake is cannabiogen something like f2-3 . Big thanks for the seeds on that.

Finally got everyone uppotted and into actually 7 gallon fabrics. I apparently bought 7 gallons thinking they would be closer to fives. Nope... Light is now officially on 12/12. Doing it again, I would slowly decrease the veg time. Something like 18 for a few days, 16 for a few more, down to 12. A slower gentler transition. These plants got big on me and I didn’t want to veg another week. I’ll take a very small amount of herms if it happens. If I get a handful of seeds that will be female replicas, so be it. My charlottes angel cbd plant had a few nanners last summer. I’ve got about 20-30 seeds. Interestingly, it only spilled over onto the plant next to it with 3 seeds found so far. I digress...

A few images of the jungle, fabric and a very nice PR. I’m guessing a male based in growth. If so, I plan to introduce him to some fine young ladies.

Looking around the tent tonight and much to my surprise.... balls! Good sized balls for what day 5 of flower? One mm x 21 plant that always had droopy leaves. Not sure I recall seeing sex quite this quickly before. Time to start figuring how to mature this without seeding everything.

If you feel like some arts and crafts a male isolation chamber can fit in your tent and I’ve used it multiple times with no issues. Just remove it far from the tent when you open the lid to water/check on them. Katsu has a good tutorial on them at his site and I’m sure there are more elsewhere.

Otherwise I have had good luck chopping the male tops with long stems and putting them in a vase with water leaning over a piece of paper or a bowl. Seems to keep them going about 10+ days and I can set that up in a window sill far from the tent as well. A bit of a timing game between how long can you let them go to get healthy and full but not let them drop pollen in the tent.

Thank you Olday. Just read the Katsu site on this topic. I was wondering if I put the male in the other tent with 20 or so hours of light would it drop pollen still. Essentially how long it takes to stop flowering and start Revegging. If I time it right seems this would work. Once or twice I’ve turned all air movement off in the tent and closely watched for a first sack to open. Removed from tent to another room with no light and gathered a tiny amount of pollen few days later. It worked but not efficiently and was a bit worrisome. I like your ideas better.

On another note... if this is showing balls maybe all other are females. Lots of bud that means... we’ll see.

It would likely go back into veg but no idea if it would do so before he started to drop

I’ve not grown many males, but this one is the fastest mature I’ve seen. Several clusters dropped pollen. Damn...... I’m hoping it may have only gotten on the girl next door. Where it was I realized there is little air movement. If I’m lucky should only be a few seeds. Besides, the girls are only showing one or two small white pistils. I gathered the smallest amount of pollen from a few leaves. I’ll dust a few buds in a week or two. I’ve removed all males but one PR. It’s not close to done yet. Ended up with six males and six females. I thought I might have a few less males. The males are now in a window out of the tent. I should get some pollen this way.

Also had my hps bulb blow. Never had one do that. This was a hortilux. my older much more used spare no name brand came to the rescue. New ones on order.

I also found some mold on my new fabric bags. I’m hoping it’s more like a good fungus.

Uppotted the red snake into the three gallon container. Also trying the experiment with one male in the veg tent. I suspect it won’t drop pollen but I’ve got enough males in the window for pollen if it doesn’t.

All is well in the tent. The PRs are taking their sweet time. Going to be a good long flower. The mm x haze a few were slow and ended up being males. I only have one female of them. It’s also taking it’s time. The Bruce banner is growing really well and flowering fast. Second one below And obviously furthest along. The image with the fan in it and one after are the mm haze. All others are PR. In a week or so I’ll put my white widow and charlottes angel in the flower tent.

Last night I put on some Barry White music and then the fun began.... what a night of debauchery! Two of my males were horned up and ready to go. I had put an mm and a pr in the veg tent under 20 hours of light to see what happens. Good news is both finished enough to give pollen. The mm was put in veg fairly early when pollen sacks were not very formed. It still made pollen. My Pr was put in veg very late and only stayed in veg tent a few days before dropping pollen. Both are still in the veg tent dropping pollen. I’m going to gather some and keep for shits and grins.

The good news about this experiment is a male will give you pollen if you put in your veg tent for a week or longer. Let it get close in your flower tent, then Into veg tent. I also put some males in a window. This worked with the male that had shot pollen already. Others were not far enough along and have not dropped pollen, yet. I’m about done with males and will have a chopping party soon.

I used a qtip and a small post it note, gently tapping pollen clusters onto the note. Then qtip full of pollen into marked branch bud. I had already seeded with early mm pollen but added more. This made me wonder about the seeds. Honey bee queens get gang banged in the air sometimes by many many suitors. Offspring can be from different dads. I wonder if different sources of pollen can create different seeds in the same bud. What an obscure thought. Maybe I should hit some ka5h and think about it.

Back on track, I also seeded a wonderful Pr lady.

Images below first and second is a Pr, followed by Bruce banner, next two are mm x21, Bruce banner and the mm haze again.
