I've been thinking about the desing of my growing area and after looking through the threads I was woundering why ppl don't surround there growing area with mirrors......obviously this wont work if it's a big area but is there a reason why pll don't do it ion small areas such as cupboards???

Well mirrors cost far more money than mylar and I believe that they are only about 5% more reflective, so the cost/benefit doesnt really add up.

the light has to go through the glass to the reflective material on the back and then back through the glass this takes from reflectiveness...mylar you can get $2 reflective safty blankets @academy or your local hunting store.peace magic

I've been told mirrors actually absorb light and reflect heat
:yeahthats

Mylar is actually MORE reflective, since with a mirror, the light has to pass through the glass, strike the reflective material, and then back through the glass. Not to mention waaaay cheaper :D

If you don't mind losing 2-3% reflectivity over mylar, an even cheaper option is flat white paint. IMHO, it's the best option when considering ease of use, ease of maintenance, and durability.
