Miracle Grow... What ratios/ How much/ When

Hey im still a newbie at growing so im asking for some help.

I have 5 plants that are about 3 weeks old and 4 plants that are about 1 week old.


5 of them got poisoned with a little spa ph down not to bad bad you can tell cuz of the yellowing in the lower leaves.



I recently picked up
2 miracle grow containers:

1- tomato food 18-18-21
2- azalea food 30-10-10

I put a little less than 1 teaspoon of each into separate 1 gallon containers of distilled water. Is that too much or too little.

which should i used to water which plants and how often should i use it?

miracle grow is no good for weed! someevern say they put something in that kills weed plants!

I havent looked at a miracle grow label lately.....

Last I checked they make a 3-1-2 ratio like 36-12-24 or something....

that would be good in veg....

They also used to make a 15-30-15 which wouldnt be bad in flower.....

Both are probably missing calcium and magnesium or not enough.....

so use dolomitic lime in your mix......

The azalia food will probably poison your plants....

it says for acid loving plants.... it will turn your soil acidid and probably kill your plants.....

You could also use the tomatoe food for the first couple weeks then use the higher N variety......

Miracle grow will work but you must use dolomitic lime to give it a chance.....

both mixes have .05% manganese is that another word for magnesium?

weed killer? Ive never heard that.
ive seen many threads where people say the miricale grow stuff works just fine.. specifically mentioning the tomato one so thats why i went out and bought them..


How often should i water with the mix 1x a week?

Get some nutes designed for weed mate as miracle grow will be a major pain in the arse for a noob and will most likely kill your plants.

I've never used it myself but that's because, with just a little research, i noticed everyone says not to use it.

There are plenty of nutes designed specifically for weed.

If it says MG on it, It's fuckin poisen. Not only that that shit you have is way too HOT, it will kill them in just a few hours. Bat guano is what I use, use it one time during VEG and one time during flowering, good luck

I looked at your label.....

The tomato food has .50% magnesium.... and no calcium.....

the azalia food has neither but Im warning you should not be used.....


manganese and magnesium arent the same.....

Cannabis like magnesium so the use of dolomitic lime would be fine with the tomato food.....

Well i already fed them with some so... i will give it a few days and see if any damage happens. MG is so damn controversial.

Having done quite a bit of work on sick plants on OG....

what used to happen was this......

People used to go buy mg soil and mg ferts.....


they used to use the 15-30-15 as ferts in their preferted soil....


the problem is that the mix contains almost no magnesium....

the results werent good.....


however with the use of dolomitic lime mg is pretty complete.....


many of the comments about micacle grow stem from mis-using the stuff.....

cannabis is a magnesium loving plant and gets pissed without it.....

miracle grow will work just fine man. i'd use the 18-18-21 for veg growth but i wouln't use the 30-10-10 at all. those numbers are not really what you want for gorwing mj.

like didgeridoo says, get the 15-30-15 for flowering . a tbsp of dolomite/ gallon of soil is pretty standard for most mediums sometimes more depending on what it is.
what is your soil mix? are you measuring ph of feed water? if so, what are you measuring it at? ph will be a much larger issue than miracle grow ferts in te long run.

don't even waste your time listening to the "poisonous" advice. they know not of what they speak. lol.

starting with a tsp/gal of water is a good amount. if the plant will take the ferts i'd start upping it to a tbsp/gal. i'd add ferts every third feed or every other if you have plants that will handle the ferts.

There is nothing wrong with MG as long as you accentuate it. i also found that the walmart store brand can work well for weed, its the "expert gardener" brand. the bloom formula is stated at 10-52-10. i tried some as a weak solution(1tsp/gl) and the girls did great. it is after all a "weed" give it the basics and it will grow.

hey twiszt, i just reread this thread and i just noticed that you have seedlings.
i'd go easy with ferts and maybe give thought to water only at this point.
