Ok SG, you grow in large pots too. So here is a new question. I assume you reuse the soil each year. How are you amending? This year I am taking all the soil, then am going to add a supersoil to it in equal quantities. It is by Vermicrop Organics. Not sure if you have heard of them. They have a real hot organic soil called Vermifire. So I am going to go 50/50 new and old. Here is the addy.

http://www.vermicrop.com/products/premium-potting-soils

They are not too far from me so I can have a load brought in fairly inexpensively, alot cheaper than the totes. Can you please give me your opinion on what I am planning to do? The soil I have now is a combination of Vermifire bought last year, and a soil called Empire Builder that caters to cannabis growers.

http://sanctuarysoil.com/sanctuary_soil_products/empire-builder/

I figured by mixing them all up, and then amending with the new soil, I will have a baseline that I can work from in the upcoming years since all the soil will be the same. Easy to send out and have analyzed to tell what is needed each year.

So if you would please be so kind as for you or whomever to chime in and lead me in the right direction on this.

Mucho Gracias my friend.

First off, there are different levels of organics.

Some are down to the microscopic levels.
Me, I'm a 'close enough' kinda guy.
With all the crap we breath and eat every day, we are constantly bombarded with bad JuJu.
And this is not an organic thread anyway.

I've used about everything on my outdoor stuff.
Last year was the first time I used recycled soil.
It was lifeless and totally spent.
I used fish bonemeal, bloodmeal, crabmeal, kelp, alfalfa, EWC, compost, neem meal, azomite, sul-po-mag, and probably more things.
I cooked it for 2 months.
This year, probably just crabmeal, kelpmeal, Home made EWC and composts.

The products you are using are still considered organic and should mix well with your old soil.
You will still need a good ACT/teas for adding to you microbial base and quick feeding.

Bamboo, for more info on organics check out X's thread GETTING STARTED W/ LIVING SOIL there's a wide range of growers here... some chem growers... I'm a "no bottles" grower myself... we may be more forgiving on organic talk than some of the other threads because we do have some great organic growers... but you need to know where in the organic spectrum you wanna be first.... this is a thread showin off a unique set of genetics... we dont wanna argue methodology here.

Well SG I am like you. Close Enough is a good thing. I am not or have not ventured down the path of total organics. But I do think that there are better classes of soil that our girls can be grown in that affect the overall quality. I do use tea once a week that I brew up in big 55 gallon containers and feed the girls half strength.

I planned on using the Humboldt Nutrients Master A & B because it was the only nutrient company I could find that uses amino acid chelates, which are supposed to be the best for nutrient delivery. The others such as AN and General Hydroponics uses the EDTA method which makes the minerals less available once inside the plant. Too much EDTA is toxic to plants. I am researching the comment that the Humboldt has Sodium levels in it and I have fired off a email to Humboldt on that to see their input.

Appreciating all your feedback. I need to get whatever cooking soon for spring is right around the corner. So what do you recommend if I were to make alot of soil myself in too short of a time to do it? I need to have the soil in the pots in the next month so I can be hitting them with the tea before the girls are put in.

Thanks again.

If you are already have used soil then re-amending is in order.
You can follow Seafours' recipe minus the peat moss and top soil.
You'll need to convert measured products to the amount of soil you amend.
Seafour can tell you how much soil that his recipe is designed for.

Make it you summer plan to invest in some worms, 1000 worms can turn into a million in 2 years.
Also start a leaf pile for worm food and compost in the fall.
If you have leaves now, rake em up and pile them up for next year.
I started a worm farm last year along with a lot of compost cooking, with 3 tumblers to cook my compost.
This is the real deal in sustainable organics, and will cut you your soil and amendment bills down 75%.

And don't forget the quality and quantity gain in all aspects of your grow.

I also think you should get on some other organic threads and absorb everything you can, and at the same time, get all your amendments together a bit at a time, as you can afford.

I spent a year on organic threads, making my switch to organics.
This will help to evolve your own individual grow style.
And work within the limits of local material availability and your budget.

Okay, lets say I do all the above. I do have tons of leaves I am just raking right now. I can put them off to the side, no problem. Same with the worms. When you mention worms, are we talking about some shady friends or just the wigglers, LOL.

I can start a worm bin, no problem there too. So on this years grow, I hit her with the tea once a week at half strength and then supplement her with the Humboldt Nutes, and just feed her water in between?

I did that last year with fox farm nutes and all was very good. Sparkley product and good quantity too. But I just feel it could be better.

Thanks again SG and Seaf0ur.

The right amounts of product to use is not something I can say.
Teas, nutes etc has to be on an as needed basis.

If your plant eats it up well, then increase, then repeat.
Do this until you see some burned tips on leaves, then level off usage.
You may start with little feedings with small plants, then keep increasing as plants grow.

Too many variables to predict.
This is what growing is about, no recipe fits all grows.
Learn and adapt.

Wuz up erybody? Dang ive been busy. I have a smoke report on the goblin queen that has been curing fir a couole weeks. Let me tell you how i did this cuz my report might be a lil different. I have two close onfriends that have their own grows going on and also my best bud that has never had interest in growing, only smoking and he is woodstock all over. Luv this guy. Anyway, had them over to watch MMA and catch a buzz. My opinion only means something to me, the populous is the best. Im bias. After having some bowls of this gem the response from my trusted associates:

1. What the hell did i just smoke

2. This shit is insane

3. Can i have a bud to take home to my wife

Then the kitchen was surrounded and my honey wasnt happy with the mess. so now that the peeps spoke, this is my humble assesment.
Goblin Queen is one of the most flavorable smokes i have had the plaesure to taste. Super berry/grape smell and a very nice smooth body buzz. Chills me out without the couchock punch. Very nice smoke sticky snow covered buds. Easy to grow, easy to clone. This one imo is a winner. Only been growing a coupe years but have smoked all kinds over 35 years.
Nice job Sanctuary Gardens.

I passed two cuts each to my two buddies that grow, with a SG tag to the info. And yes i took care of the hippys' better half.

Niiiccceee!
That's the kind of smoke report that feels much more human.
Fun getting someone loaded with something special.
Raping the kitchen afterwards is a bonus, maybe not to the wifey of course.

Goblin Queen is the ugly Betty weed of the bunch.
Goblins and Dark Goblins have slight mutations, but GQ takes it 10 times further.
I already have 30 pre-sorted GQ seeds ready for soil.
I have the greatest faith in finding something exotic from them.
Gotta get through the ugly sisters, then take the pretty one to the dance.

Maybe some F-2 's will be worth a try.

Looking forward to further Hippie updates.
Nice job old fella ;)

that recipe is 1 standard trash can load..... going back to work now.

Thanks Seaf0ur. When you say one standard trash can load, would you guess that to be like a 32 gallon that you would use outside, Rubbermaid?

Reason I mention this is I need to do a conversion for about 2000 gallons, lol. Then I will mix it up with the 2000 gallons I already have and be good to go.
