From a previous life we talked about the 40+ year old frozen seeds I had. Well I popped one and it's a male. My old grow buddy labeled this MM 1+2 x MTV and I renamed it Eminem. It is early maturing, tight bud, good quality according to the labeling. It's a male. I'll post a picture later tonight when I figure out this new site.

I'm going to breed Eminem with a Trainwreck I really like. I've got 4 cuttings off him because I have another 40+ year old frozen seed that popped too. That one is in its infancy and I'll post a picture later. I named that one MTV because it came out of a baggie label Like MTV. Very similar characteristics to Eminem. Both were breed by my old grow buddy from the 70's. It does very well in the foothills of the Cascades.

Here a quick picture of MTV that popped its little head out of the soil about 5 days ago. I literally went through 100s of seeds to get those 2.
I don't know the significance of MTV or why my old grow buddy labeled it as such. Some of you may know a little of my back story but these 2 plants came from a breeding of seeds that were bought from Amsterdam in the early 70's. My friend wanted to have a strain that would do well out of doors in the PNW. Why he choose the labels he did is unknown to me. I plan on seeing him this coming August and I will tell him about the plants. I'm sure that will open up a great discussion of the history behind MM 1+2 x MTV and Like MTV.

Let's bring the minions up to speed on my activities in the last 2 months of my MMJ growing.
I rebuild my cloning/seedling area and put up a 4' 4 tube T5 light for them. I rebuild the teenager's area and I'm using a 400W MH light for them. I couldn't let my flower area go without a remodel so I did that too.

Once I get acquainted with this site and see what is going on outside of this thread I'll kick up a journal and tell all about my journey to the organic side. It was SG who pointed me in that direction and it has been an excellent journey so far.

i'd recommend scuffing older seed lightly, only on either round side, with sandpaper... enough to take the shine off and make em look dull... water will penetrate more readily... germ rates should go up. Also, 80/20 h2o + coconut water as a soak will also help further germ rates.
Older seeds dry up and have a harder time sprouting than fresh ones... sometimes the taproot starts showing and a day later the seed case closes up, snapping off the taproot and the seed dies....

What up Minions. Does anyone in here happen to know if there is a difference between low ppm tap water and RO water?
Only thing that I can think is that low tap water would still have to have the chlorine evaporated out over 24 hours.. but would't there be the same amount of minerals in 40 ppm tap water and 40 ppm RO water?
Hopefully someone can shed some light for me.

It's great to see all the pictures of those exotic strains. I'm working on my first organic grow and am awestruck by the results I'm getting from my first soil mix. I've just got your run of the mill dispensary purchased strains.

My soil seems to be dialed in because these girls are showing a lot of light green new growth. What a waste of 40 years of bottled nutrient growing. Organics is the way I roll from now on.

epsom is alright as a foliar, but will damage micro-life if thats something you're worried about....
40ppm aint bad at all, but bubbling your tap water definitely does not get rid of all the chemicals that the city puts into the water. RO water just gives you a very nice base to start from, so you know exactly what's in your water.
If you want to remove chloramine, Prime or AmQuell (from the fish store) will break the chloramine bond (ammonia and chlorine).
Most use RO to get as near 0ppm water as possible by removing the ~other~ things that are in the water, not just chlorine/chloramine. Check your local water supply website for analysis to see whats in there.
