20,000 btu LG

20,000 btu LG

cost = 20,000 baht = usd 572 with out pipes
I had to buy pipes cut n flare.inspected with an eye glass lol
bought vac pump gauges and flare set ,insulation sleaving .

Instruction sheet was malaysian translated to american english
That was a bit awkward.

only fault i had was condensate pipe backed up due to algae being bent position but as i reused condensate in my rez i just cut plastic casing ran it vertical to storage tank.

Prior to the ac i had thought i could run open air flow with ozone but humidity regardless of mass airflow was way high as outside air was
85% humidity and 30c temp.

I was sufferring effects of encephalitis at the time ,looking back im amazed i suceeded

doing it now would be piss easy.

Im amazed at the rip off prices in USA.

without comparing specs, its impossible to compare units.

its entirely possible the unit you got is simply a horizontal discharge conventional fixed speed condensing unit with a fixed speed cassette. the unit the OP was quoted was probably a fully VRF heat pump system with variable speed cassette and condensing unit fan.
these are vastly more complicated... having electronic expansion valves and DC motors etc.

they sell them here as well... price is like 500 per ton usually. very similar to a conventional vertical discharge unit.
horizontal discharge units with the same equipment are generally a bit less efficient but are much much much more compact.

its also possible you just got a used or even a "scratch and dent" unit. they sell those here too... like 600 bucks on the pallet for a 2-4 ton, but you basically get 0 warranty on parts and have to pay freight shipping from where ever they are warehoused.

I have installed 2 DIY units and they work great but nothing beats a professional tradesmens work ! It jus sucks having a stranger come in .
I like the p series, at first I wanted one cause it can handle up to -50c temps while running . I'm sure other units can do this but in my reasearch none of the other units I looked into had it in writing that you can run it all winter long .

If you wanted the p series I would get it and not settle for the lg ,Unless you want it. There is a mitz dealer in Toronto and I believe when I inquired it was 4500cnd for the unit only ! I think regardless a technician with a license will get you a better price.

it depends on how the pump is designed, especially the oiling system.

some huge vacuum systems actually use massive rotary vane single stage vacuums, but they generally cannot pull the same vacuum in anywhere near the amount of time of a comparable volume 2 stage. in other words, it would take like 10x the time to reach the same deep vacuum of say 500 microns, that a identical volume 2 stage pump would.

the second stage allows you to achieve massive compression ratios low down into the vacuum where you really need them. a single stage will generally have very poor compression ratios so it will have to rotate many more times to compress the gas enough to lift the exhaust valves.

next time get a micron gauge so you can actually see the progress of the vacuum.

I'm thinking of doing a DIY with an ebay model. I think this is the only solution for my situation. Wouldn't mind paying the bill for a pro install but just don't like people coming over to my house and don't know any cool HVAC guys. I see a lot of guys have installed themselves and it's giving me hope :)

Can any one give me the scoop on these Cheap Ebay models? I know very little about what models I should avoid. I see 24000 BTU : 21 SEER Dual Zone Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner - 2 x 12000. Say it has a toshiba compressor but sometimes you will see other cheap models with "mitsubishi compressor". The units usually carry a generic name

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/24000-BTU-21...859632?hash=item35ffbd40b0:g:9TMAAOSwYmZXHZSj

this is an example of several I have been looking at but you get the idea. Just looking for other people experiences with chepo ebay models or similar. obviously name brand like Mitsubishi mr.slim is going to be much nicer plus better service after purchase. But are the more generic type really so bad? What are the down falls?

i would not fuck around with no name VRF systems period.

this technolagy is just way finicky, and when you do need parts... its going to be impossible to source them from a no name brand.

on the other hand, of you can find folks using said system and haveing no problems, its up to you. but personally, id just spend the extra grand for an LG or sanyo or what ever other brands are available.
