Lou, you've been around for years playin outdoors/indoors! and your cloner is the best i've tried.

All i'm saying is no one is right or wrong, you've both pulled some serious weight off of CFLs......
And members of the community can choose to COPY what you've both done but the result will never be the same, for better or worse!
So i'm picking what I THINK might work for me from both of you!

Also i have never used the 40's yet?...maybe they burn to much
for what i do with my 23watters.....it just amazes me how cool it
could have been WAY.........BACK........when i was young using CFL's!
Still believe hanging them down is the best,when someone is impressed

As far as light positioning goes, I'm right by your side. Before, I was running the lights horizontally, in order to give the girls more room to stretch up. But I found out that if I hang them vertically, as in your case, that I can position the plants so that they're not right under neath the lights, but can grow right up next to them, because the CFLs reach every corner of my box when hung vertically. I just changed this last night, and I must have gotten an extra INCH in growth when they went to bed this morning!
You know exactly what you are doing Lou, please don't let anyone bring you down!

my opion, both of you have reached godlike abilities to grow bud and im nowhere near your level...you guys are both right...i think lougrews method is the most efficient way to use 23,42 waters for a couple plants (for ppl that are uneasy with having big numbers).. i think lifeless also lets his plants grow around the bulbs and he uses 42 watts. but obviously if your going perpetual and are ok with having SEVERAL plants then dr buds is the way to go... its easier to stuff them in there when the lights are horizontal...since im one of the ones that dont like having that many plants id hang the 42 watters vertically w/o y adapters then place screens around the bulbs leaving about an inch and a half of space between the screen and bulb... then just lst like 3 plants or so and have each plant with about 7-8 buds.each bulb would be surrounded with buds,and very little of that light would go to waste.kinda like serveral mini vertical scrogs.but you guys are apples and oranges both of you are good, and both of you have good intentions for helping the common grower..and lou to be honest your method would work alot better with better lsted plants(lst alot earlier) those shoots arent even,but even you lst method is awesome and simple id just do it earlier..its almost like you lst a bit late, ...but your message is sound and logical. BOTH OF YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT, RELAX..

I think you should post up your entire MG regiment veg/bloom so everyone will know what to buy and how to use it. I've alwase believed MG products were no good to use on cannabis. Well, I was wrong. So the pot still tasts good with MG? Isn't MG urin based? That some dense looking nug there. Good job.

ive used my own piss for nitrogen deficiencies it worked pretty well.

I've followed the doc's thread and just got through reading yours lou. What you say about the light makes a lotta sense. If you only have the tiny little 23 watters, you have to use them to their potential. Great job with your little tree. Cause it looks delicious.

Lou, a lot of the microgrowers have a somewhat different attitude toward size constraints because size is usually the limiting factor in our grows. With unlimited space, no doubt there would be many different methods, higher cabs,and more vertical lights. But when you have to make do with the space you have (like a hollowed out computer), designing a cab becomes a balancing act between space for plants and space for light bulbs. In my humble opinion, sacrificing plant space for light-bulb space has diminishing returns after some point, even if your nugs are denser and stronger than anything you've ever grown. I can't speak for Dr. Bud but I think this was the point of his post...he was just trying to share that microgrow "gram per watt" mindset that we all tend to have, because we are so obsessed with efficiency around here. (and don't take the big font personally, I don't think that was for you!) But I get the point of your thread. I think we can all agree that to see buds grown like that under cfl's is pretty inspirational. Just my two cents fwiw.

cfl really do make some nice dense compact buds, shame yield is low and the bulbs have to stay 1-2" away. when i flowered some spare seed plants i bent it round the rim of the pot and stuck a hanging cfl in the middle of the "ring" and some around the outside. it was ok.. but still ppooor yeilding imo, maybe 7-10g per plant.

what id like to see is a cfl scrog, with maybe 3 or 4 cfls aranged to light the complete screen, jrw has a nice sativa scrogged (bit small tho) and cfl was better than my hps at growing dense thai buds.
i may even try it this later this year, i fancy doing a thai under it
