Mi5 Grow Journal - Growing With CANNA

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't widen her profile a bit... If her strain will stand the stress of LST, who knows?

I have a landrace sativa in bonsai form, lovely, arching branches - in a 1-gal pot where it is happily flowering away...

With plants, I believe anything is possible, with proper care & attention...

i had to tie her down to fit her under the 125w 2700k cfl. its in the cupboard above the grow cab with limited head space. it took a couple of days to get her down but i didnt notice any slowdown in growth. shes doing really well, I can see seeds peeking out all over from top to bottom. i cant see ther been anything on her to smoke, 0.5g dry at the most. I did good with the fine tip paint brush and the pollen.

I want to try some lst with other plants in the summer, things like tomatoes ect....

Thats a great looking plant there my man, I am looking into more short stuff strains now. I must say, their seeds really impressed me, all germ'd, only one died during sprouting. All look to have similar pheno's as far as my RRF's are concerned.

day 45.

there all starting to beef up apart from the tallest (back left) but she is going to be a beast! when she fattens up, il try and take a close up tomorrow

i also planted the germinated fem hbd and mystery kush beans. they been planted in 7L square deep pots. i used 1 part perlite 3 parts tomato grow bag a small amount of chicken shit from my chickens and some water retaining crystals. il use canna terra flores when flowering but wil only needs a couple of light feeds. il use black strap unsulphered mollasses throughout. i used this mix in the greenhouse with good results and its really cheap and simple.

'Looking Real Nice Dargo',
'MI5' is definately going t'op 5 on my list this year, along with the 'Onyx' too. Its looking better & better all the time, 'Let's Avvv ittttt'.......!!!!! Al-Fresco-Styley......!
G'Luck with these Darg, you aint gonna need it, looks in the Bag, lovely Work Buddy!
What are you contributing the yellowing to, or lack of N? Is that down to your Mix(which i think is boss btw) or another factor?
Peace & Mucho Respect...............Scroger 'Loving the SS Range'! ;)

there in canna pro mix its only the 2 new ones in my mix. i thought the yellowing was lack of N due to high ph locking out nutes but ive fixed ph and fed some canna terra vega but there all still yellowing?

Dargo,

How tall would you say you're Mi5's are, or will finish at? Also, let me know what you find about the yellowing... some of the lower leaves on my bigger RRFs are starting to yellow a bit too. Gonna feed them tonight, as its been probably close to a week since the last feed. Ill let you know what I find. Looking great so far man, keep it up!

i'm totally amazed
mine have 59 days and look half like those, big ones
they(yours) look like could(and prolly can) be ready in 10 days...like...wtf
even first lowryder couldn't be done in such short period of time

A friend sent me a link to this thread today and told me there was some good info here, and he was right. I've been growing autos for a couple years now and grew some Mi5 outdoors last year. Of course, totally different conditions from what you're using but thought you might like to know how mine did.

I didn't get them started till the third week of July. I started them in 5" square pots and transplanted to 3 gallon posts after sexing. The males sexed at 5 weeks and the females at 6. They were about 6-8" tall with about 8 sets of leaves. They started packing on nice hard buds for the next 6 weeks and started to slow down as the weather got cooler. I harvested at 16 weeks. Had I started them earlier in the year I believe they would have finished in 12 weeks. The cool weather brought out the Afghani in them and they turned a deep purple, almost black. I had 3 plants and averaged 2 ounces each. When they were dried and cured they were a beautiful greenish blue color. It has a nice fruity smell smell and a strong smoke. It's as potent as anything I've ever grown.

It will be interesting to see how your indoor crop compares. Sure looks good.

16 Weeks' Strange!!!!!!!!!

16 Weeks' Strange!!!!!!!!!

16 weeks??? Sounds like a completely different plant ah,
Are you talking about the 'MI5' from 'SS' dude? Something dont sound right there at all!, Most Auto's start to AUTOFLOWER (Hence the Name-AF) after just 14-21 days regardless of light cycle i thought. AF's that take 16 weeks to finish & 5-6 to start their Bloom cycle?, Na' dont sound right to me & is sort of defeating the object of the AF strains. Indoor like Dargo's under a controlled enviroment they are obviously performing how they should. Kicking into flower because of their age & not light cycle like traditional Indica/Sativa MJ genetics. I do hope you are refering to a different strain & not the MI5 from 'SS' as i am gonna give them a go outdoor this season, dont care what anyone says, it aint putting me off them. I just really hope my MI5's do what other AF's do, which is Autoflower after 2-3 weeks+ & then flower for a further 6-8 weeks+. I have only ever grown out 1 AF strain which was my own cross. Big'Bud from Sensi x 'Bigger Pine' (Ruderalis x?), It smelled like 'Juicy'Fruit' Chewing Gum after crossing it with the BB & was quite potent too, certainly got you there put it that way. has anyone ever heard of the 'Bigger-Pine'? that was going back to 92',the 'BP' was gifted to me by a friend and we crossed it with the BB, its off spring we called 'BiggerBud', that one kicked into flower after about 3-4 weeks if i remember rightly & did very well outdoor, Shame i lost her & never heard of the 'BiggerPine' again after that.
Anyway i do hope you are wrong on the 16 weeks outdoor!
Peace & Respect...................Scroger!!!!!!!!!

Yes, these were Mi5 from Short Stuff. I've found that autos grown outdoors generally take about 2 weeks longer than those grown indoors. All my dwarf strains sexed in 3-4 weeks. The fact that the Mi5 took a week or two longer isn't necessarily a bad thing. The bigger you can get autos in veg the more they will yield. Don't forget, outdoors at that time of year is about 14 hours of daylight. Can't compare that to plants indoors under 20 hours of light. They will take longer. As I said, had I started them earlier I believe they would have finished in about 12 weeks. Toward the end it was getting very cold at night and I had to move them into the garage on several nights to avoid frost. That certainly impacted their growth, slowing them down considerably. I'll be growing more this year, and starting them earlier, so it will be interesting to see the difference.

Those Mi5's look amazing dargo! Yeild to the max, i bet you push an easy Q/P.

Don't worry about the yellow at this point, it's only a good thing this late into flower. Can't wait to hear the yeild and smoke reports.

Bh.

Dargo - My compliments on an excellent run! These chunky gals are really shaping up for you & I'm confident you will be well satisfied with the fruits of your labor/love.

As the yellowing you are concerned about appears to be limited to the larger fan leaves & not the bud leaves, don't worry about it. It's a very natural process, in which the plant is modifying its sugars & starches, metabolizing its nutrients. So long as it is the fan leaves yellowing, don't worry about it.

If you have humidity to worry about, you can just pluck them off... No dead tissue for mold/fungus to spawn in....

I tend to worry if mine DON'T go a bit yellow this far into ripening.

Really looks good.

I planted the single HBD fem seed & mystery kush seed, the HBD made it out (day 1 photo below) but I dont think im going to see the kush :( My fault for letting the soil dry out on top, was away fo the day yesterday and forgot to clingfilm the top of the pots.

il have to germinate my 2nd and only other mystery kush bean but take more care this time. I also moved them to the cab above my cab and put an extra 125w veg cfl bulb above the pots.

Fem HBD day 1 (the pot behind is the kush that hasnt popped out the soil, i still got a little hope but not much!)
