Mendocino Outdoor Adventure 2012

Hey ya'll, figured I'd catch up on happenings from last year before starting on this one. 2012 was our first year outside, we started with an untouched piece of land in April and built it up to a happy little farm :).


25 150 gallon full suns, 10'x20' veg greenhouse, 20'x48' light dep greenhouse. We built the small greenhouse from plans found online, plus added the end caps to seal it up nicely. The big house was from Farmtek. More pics to come!

looks like you have a decent amount of flat land on high ground...very nice

What kinda varieties do you run?

We didn't start out with much flat land. At first we couldn't even drive a truck onto our land because of the brush. Now there are 3 pads we are working with. At about 3000', we get some serious wind! The shade cloth helped immensely but by the end of the year the t-posts had bent over. The neighbor had a laundry shed with a washer and dryer blow off the side of the hill. So with that in mind, we went overkill with everything we've built up here.

Strains for the year were Blue Dream, Green Crack, And Bruce Banner #3 outside in the field, and White Fire OG, Mango, Tres Dawg, True OG, and Bruce in the greenhouse.

We used G.O. Grow, Bloom, Bioroot, And Biobud mostly in the greenhouse, with weekly compost tea feedings from our 50 gallon brewer. The brewer was made from PVC and a pickle barrel, nothing too fancy! We foliar'd with tea and azatrol up until week 3 of flower.

Hell yea! I really like the design of the small hoop and I bet it stands against the wind better than the pre fab one huh. Thats how it is with our hand built ones, strong as an ox. You definitely have a nice gentle ridge top to work with Im jealous of 3 pads. Where you getting your water, well spring truck? Looking forward to more!

Yea the small greenhouse doesn't move a bit, I wish it was a little bigger though. We thought about adding onto it, I think we're just gonna build another one instead. The big house has some movement to it, but it's all steel with a bunch of t-posts added to anchor it down. We closed up the sides and the ends, too, so it wouldn't take off like a sail. Our neighbor's hoop houses got blown off the mountain in one of the crazier storms. Ours are just fine :).

We hauled water from our neighbor's spot, 450 gallons at a time. Planned for a well in June, didn't get one until September. We had a couple close calls with multiple trucks breaking down but no big problems watering the ladies.

Sorry for delay, we got busy real quick up here! Once the nice weather hit we realized we had some catching up to do..

Thank you for the kind words! Hopefully I can update this more than once a week.. I'm going to try and stay in order with the pictures, but I got some nice flower shots from the greenhouse to show :).

We didn't get our full suns into their big homes until the beginning of July last year. As much as this sucked, we still did ok. Out in the field were 14 Green Crush (Green Crack, I don't like the given name..), 5 Bruce Banners, and 6 Blue Dreams. Plants were transplanted from 10 gallons into the 150 gallons around July 2nd. We used Happy Frog amended with crab meal, fishbone meal, neem seed meal, feather meal, cottonseed meal, oyster shell flour, gypsum, glacial rock dust, greensand, kelp meal, alfalfa meal, lava rock, and baseline. I really wanted to avoid bagged soil but we were pretty late to acquiring our soil and didn't have any leads on a quality bulk mix. We used Mykos at transplant. Watered with diluted compost teas and G.O. Grow and Bioroot at 2mL/Gallon until flower. We foliar sprayed every 2-3 days with a rotation of calcium-25, actinovate, compost tea, kelp, and neem.

Nice grow bubblebert. Green crack was originally named Cush (yup Kush but with a C). I never was a fan of the name green crack either.
