I feel that the pictures in the other thread are a little on the shocking side so I present a different view.I gotta admit,it looks and sounds very good.

No, its not another giant whale OF a burger it is actually a burger made from whale meat. Japan has plans to increase its whaling program, and the whale burger is one use for the meat. The $3.50 slice of fried whale on a bun is on sale at Lucky Pierrot, a restaurant chain in the Japan's port city of Hakodate. Lucky Pierrot's manager Miku Oh said, "The taste and texture are somewhere between beef and fish. People in Hakodate have a long history of eating whale, so customers are looking forward to trying it." Whale meat was a staple of school lunches in Japan before a moratorium on whaling was introduced in 1986

Enjoy the food of the sea while it lasts, I guess... I admit that Burger looks damn tasty, it's just a shame these animals won't be around in 50 years if we continue harvesting at the current rate... like a lot of things in this world.

Pfft...Bullshit...

a burger is the best the fucktards can come up with ? You kill a whale and make a burger out of it ? That is disgusting..use dumb cows for the monkeys who eat burgers. Im sure whales can be prepared with much more dignity and respect. They are beautiful animals.

Amazing what passes as a ''restaurant'' these days..

Have some fucking taste!

No doubt..dont get me wrong,I am for sustainable harvest, wether it be humans or whales!!
The Japanese have been harvesting a relatively small number of whales for 12,000 yrs,AND...dont forget it wasnt the Japanese who hunted them to near extinction for ambergris and such,it was the U.S

I think that McDonalds has a great idea with the kids meal. Grind up all the stupid kids who get less than a B ave(like Bush) and make a burger out of them. Personally,I love kids. I just can't eat a whole one anymore. They give me gas!

Save the whales! Eat kids!( esp. Japanese kids)

Yes - the TRUTH is a bit SICKENING isn't it buddy??? No wonder you're veering away from the reality of it and trying to present a different side that ignores the reality of the slaughter of endangered species and their babies.

And there's a slight difference between the cows that McDonalds uses and the whale meat that Japan uses -- THE COWS AREN'T ENDANGERED.

Anyway buddy you just keep trying to defend these sick slaughters of endangered species and their babies. (I guess there's always one in every village huh)

Pheno, the only way that you will stop this is to start harpooning Japanese. God knows, there are enough of them. Just use those explosive heads when you do, gut them, hang them from the yardarm of your ships, takes pictures and send them back to Japan.Grind up the remains and feed the whales. Turnabout is fair play!

honestly whale is one thing I've always wanted to try...good call red. I really don't think ALL whales are endangered anyway...maybe some species but not all. If they're so worried about it, it will become a delecacy and not an everyday mcdonalds burger kinda thing.

i bet the baby whales taste best

No it doesn't .
It is not something you laugh about, as I have been growing up in a country that kill and eats whale meat " Pilot whale and so on...... "
It is Better then Beef, it is just like cutting in your own flesh, the blood acts just like our own. The taste is Delicious :)
But hunting in large Numbers, not a good idea !

If you have shoot the mother whale, you must kill the baby - Just logical sens (;

Food preparation

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whaling_in_the_Faroe_Islands#The_pilot_whale_as_a_source_of_food

Whale meat and blubber is a Faroese specialty. Well into the last century meat and blubber from the pilot whale meant food for a long time. Everybody got their share, as is the custom to this day.[10] The meat and blubber can be stored and prepared in a variety of ways such as Grind og spik. When fresh, the meat is boiled or served as steaks. A pilot whale steak is in Faroese called grindabúffur. Whale meat with blubber and potatoes in their skins are put in to a saucepan with salt and then boiled for an hour. Thin slivers of the blubber are also a popular accompaniment to dried fish.

The traditional preservation is by salting or outdoor wind-drying. Today the meat and blubber is often kept in the freezer. The traditional way of storage is still being practised however, particularly in the villages.

Tourists in the Faroe Islands, who would like to try pilot whale meat and other Faroese food specialities, can do as such at different cultural events which are mostly organized in the summer period..

Cultural importance
The pilot whale hunt is an integral part of Faroese social culture. Faroese men often say that grindadráp makes them feel Faroese. Women do not actively take part in grindadráp, but are bystanders or onlookers. This is part of the traditional division of labour concerning grindadráp that is centuries old, and has not changed over time

And whale Burger ! That´s waste of of good meat :spank:
