If you are using an active exhuast (fan) with passive intake (no fan) you want to have an intake with at least twice as much area than the exhuast to allow for full efficiency of the fan as well as creating negative pressure so no odors leak from the grow.
If using an active exhuast (fan) in conjunction with an active intake (fan) You'll want the exhuast fan to move more air than the intake fan,otherwise you'll create positive pressure in the grow and unfiltered smelly air will be pushed out any cracks,holes in the grow.
