Max temps 88* - How to drop w/o AC?

Hey everybody just getting my 4x4x8 tent up and running here's what I got:

4x4x8 tent
1000hps, cool chewb with bat wings basically
6" fan
20" carbon scrubber
Osc fans
swamp cooler (ice if I want, mainly just used for its humidifying capabilities)

Here's how I have the tent vented:

scrubber > 6" inline > 1000hps cooltube > outside garage vent

Intake: Passive - (Night = day cycle)

Outside garage (max MAX temps 70* in the shade where intake is pulling) > tent

so far my max temps are 88* during the beginning of the day cycle (about 8pm)

What could I do to get down around 78-80 range? Different HVAC routing? Thanks in advance for any help! Gonna start my journal pretty soon

I would pick up another six inch fan and run the ducting for the light separately.
Is your intake at least double your outtake?

So your saying that I would be better off running cool air from outside through the light and out, as well as exhausting the tent through the scrubber?

That means I would have to run a Wye on intake and exhaust

Could I run two 6" inline into one 6" exhaust out the garage?

I hope so!

If you increase your turnover rate the temp will get closer to ambient room temp. I use 2 8" inline's for intake/exhaust. I have the intake(from outside) on a controller to achieve neg pressure.

Intake is also 6"

My tent is sucked in nicely on all sides so pressure is good

I'm definitely not goin to go get two 8" fans just for 5-10*

Looks like I'm going to try:

1. Add inline fan to intake... Or
2. Run dual exhaust, venting hood and tent separately
And running dual intake, cool air to tent and hood separately..

lol Im not in a tent. I was just giving my setup as a example. Im around 20x turn over rate for my room.

Just did the tents first shakedown run
Looks like temps go from 88* to 77* just before lights off.
Ill be testing the night cycle today, and if all is good plants go
in tonight!

Turnover = How many times the air is removed and replaced with fresh air(DOES NOT APPLY TO SEALED ROOMS CO2 NEED HERE). Your temps will not get any lower then the temp of the room the tent is in unless you bring in cold air from outside or AC. =..

I'm personally not a huge fan (No pun intended) of using the light cooling fan as an extraction fan as well. I tried it once, and by the time I got enough CFM through the light, to keep temps in check, I was over-drawing the carbon filter, and could smell good things, where they weren't welcome...
If you've got a few extra bucks, you might pick up a second 6" fan, and a fan speed controller. Insulated ducting, at least on the "Hot" side of the light may help as well.
Ditching the cool tube, and insulating a standard air cooled hood with reflectix would be on the list also, but that's more $...
Either way, I'd still recommend a $20 speed controller for your exhaust. A 20" can filter will be borderline at full CFM from most 6" fans. You don't want surprises 7 weeks in!
Stay safe.

+1 for separating exhaust and light cooling. Keeping the light cooling duct separate from the tent entirely really helped me.

As stated in my original post, fresh air is coming from outside the garage.
Tent is in garage
Garage gets pretty hot since they skimped on insulating the roof in that area of the house.

What? Intake 7 times the exhaust? I think you have that backwards...

Planning on addin another 6" on intake, making sure I can dial in the pressure so the sides of the tent still get sucked in a bit

Passive intakes needs to be at a minimum, twice the area of your exhaust. So,if using a 6" exhaust fan (a 6" circle has an area of 28.2743 square inches) then you want your passive intake to be at least twice the area of exhaust,so 56.5486 square inches of area, bare minimum.

I'm sure you are a more experienced grower than I, its just I've heard completely differently. You want the exhaust sucking a bit more than intake for proper pressure in the tent.
My problem is the passive intake is probably too long of a duct, so I'm loosing intake power.

Installing fan into intake right now ill report back!
