What is the most amount of plants you put together, like in a row, theoretically i would like to spread them all but, w/o a gps i would lose plants and maybe not get males.

I have a field behind my houst that spans i would say 2 maybe 3 miles, and was hoping to have about 50 plants, so would groups of 10 be okay? in a row

I was thinking about checking 2 a week, as not to be too suspicioius.

i plant to mostly stay between rows this year
i dunno how long for a row but i think ill keep some length on them to keep the numbers down
my plan is to grow them with 1,5 to 2 meters between, then next row empty so its easier to inspect them from all sides to find males etc

ill have 2-3 strains in each field
one strain where selected males are allowed to pollinate the rest to make both pure and cross seeds
might not have 2 giant long rows
but maybe 3 rows for the strain with largest number, then 2 rows distance to tell the difference, then the secondary strain
i cant say whats best in your case
this is just what im planning in order to keep track of them all and allow for easy inspection

well it cant all be talk

so lets look at it

well first i want you to meet the 24/7 guards
they look nice and so they are also but they keep a good eye on my stuff

tnx
yes they will get one feed with a mild nutrient solution and then get transplanted into 13x13 1,5 liter pots
there they will be cared for until they are ready to go out in the corn in middle June where pesticides are no longer an issue

actually, yes the genetics are good for cooler climates but they do well all over the globe
since they are adapted to our long days they will flower even faster at lesser latitudes

hey Gunnar,

do you water them right before transplanting them in the corn? or do you transplant them in the corn and add water in the ground or something else?

hey Gunnar,

do you water them right before transplanting them in the corn? or do you transplant them in the corn and add water in the ground or something else?

good question

depends on size and condition of the root mass i would say

last year i didnt water them just before transplant but after instead ( some within the following days as i couldnt bring all the water out in my own car at once as im not having a van)

if the root mass is tight then it doesnt matter as much i guess but last year i was out late and not all had a tight root mass so i didnt water them just before transplanting as a wet soil/root mix will easier fall apart during transplant than a semi dry one
so last year i did the transplant dry and watered them within the next few days

this year im doing this much earlier and a month from now i expect the roots to be tight in the 1,5 liter pots
so it might be easier to water them early the same day when i do the transplant later at night

so i dont have to bring so much gear and water within the first few days and i can concentrate on transplanting as many each night as possible

remember to scrape top soil away around the spot for transplanting to avoid pesticides remains that might be there still

if the plants are tall enough by mid June ill cut one or 2 leave sets off and smear them with a honey/root powder mix ( got that tip from a fellow canna corn grower)
this will get the original root ball much deeper in the ground and also there will be emerging roots later from the cuts
this should ensure a deep and massive root mass and make the plant less vulnerable to dry weather
but of course it requires the plant to have a certain size at transplant as it also should be able to keep up in growth with the corn

so they will be transplanted from the seed trays within a few days, a week at most, depends on growth speed, and into the 1,5 liter pots for maximum growth until mid June

ill give them a 1/4 strength nutrient solution to night and see what happens from there on

Looks like you're serious there:)
I've seen the first sprouts on what I think are corn fields now, so it should be possible to find them when driving by soon - still hoping for a field or 2 with great access - didn't find any last year.

inspirational gunnarchy - I have a question, I had a read on your 08 grow and saw you grew a patch in woods that was fenced in from deer. How big tall does the fence need to be to keep them out, and is it standard chicken wire you use?

back in my high school days i had deers chewing up an entire grow with 10-15 plants at 4 feet+, i think it was back in '92 if i remember correctly
dont under estimate them

the fenced in area in a forest i used last year i didnt fence in
it was already fence in by forest workers to keep deers from harming young trees and i used that to my advantage

the fence was almost 2 meters high
but ive seen ppl fence in each plant separately with chicken wire at about 4 feet in height
first period is most crucial as one bit from a deer unto a small plant can be fatal
when plant is bigger then they are less exposed but still in harms way of deers

a combination of fence and deterrent is advised growing in areas with many deers
also be carefull about organic fertilizers
ive had one of my dogs digging in a pot at home and i suspect its because i added some AN Sensizymes that probably contains some part organic matter
also ive had one dog at home chewing a hole in a card box with some cheap semi organic pellet fertilizer that should contain some parts of bat guano
and using organics in a guerrilla grows you risk critters, dogs, cats and other animals digging your your grow

i use chemical in my G grows for the same reason both in liquid and pellet form and so far only lost a few in a corn field to either rabbits or deers ( a 3-5% loss in total i would guess)

i logged in to ask you about your thyphoon. i put 20 into a soak cause you mentioned the bad germ rates. now i read you forgot to get them in the dirt. hahahahaahaha thats funny. it really sucks to watch the dirt everyday and still nothing happens. nice surprise to find out the seeds never got in the dirt though. so please tell me. did they pop. as i said, i started 10 of everything else but i did 20 of the thyphoon. i hope they all come up now. little j

I wish you all luck, and i will gladly follow you and your plants the whole session.
I grow Thyphoon myself here in Sweden. I love danish grows. It would be so awesome if it were as common here as it is in Denmark.
But I think Swedens time has come.

Viva la revolucion!

hello CD and welcome to my humble little grow show
your more than welcome to watch but also comment if you like, or maybe just sit back with a cold beer and a joint
its all up to you :joint:

Little J
tnx
my Thyphoons and yours are probably not from the same source so hard to say about germination rates from that
ive had very good germination rates so far from the seeds i made in the corn last year
still havent put my thyphoons in yet but ill do that later to day
from last year i remember her as a little difficult to trim because of bud structure, but shes early and have good yields
if she had been sensimilla i could have taken her at mid September i think but since she had seeds i took her with the rest at end September and she had a high rate of mature seeds compared to some of the other strains

i havent taken many pix since last as they grow just a little bit bigger every day
they have now almost filled the trays with root mass and is going to be transplanted into pots very soon

BC
im very honored that you took your time to stop by here for a comment
i know your a busy OD grower also
cant wait to see your results from this year as ive watched your threads so far with great interest

Koi
tnx for positive vibes
ive seen you grow thread also and will be watching to see the grow from a Swedish grow brother

Jakezking
tnx im flattered

Randude101
tnx for comments
im glad you've liked the show so far
i hope it will get even more exiting once the plants really starts to take off
im glad ive inspired you
ive been inspired myselfs also to do this by others
growers in here and other places, persons like Browndirtwarrior and his Prohibition, Jorge Cervantes and many others
inspiration and knowledge from gained from last years grow and by looking at other ppl's grows etc is some of the forces driving me for this project
once i started growing back in 07 from a very long brake from growing, i just couldnt stop once i began
now they are getting bigger and better for each grow and im sure im far from reaching the limits
also the pollen from the corn grow will be used indoor later to make some crosses ready for next season
this is just starting to get fun and i feel like im getting warmed up now :woohoo:

sorry for not getting back to you
ive had a few busy days and the thread had many replies recently

i havent been out seeing any corn sprouts yet but ive also not looked much yet as i know many farmers up here keep cattle and pigs and therefore does a lot of diary corn for feeding them
a freind just told me 2 of the fields i planted in last year also seems to have been planted with corn this year ( so much for crop rotation for those fields)
but since they had very good acces im very happy about that

still needs 6 more fields so i guess ill be driving around the country side soon :joint:

cant transplant them before mid June any way due to they have to be free of harming pesticides so ill just have to have the remaining 6 fields plotted by start June

then we are really rolling :yeahthats

this is hard work, but damn i love it
the best and most honest job ive ever had
the harvest from last year wasnt that impressive ( due to amount and being so late) but still it saved my ass from bankruptcy and my remaining mortgage several times by now in seeds and stash

i of course hope i dont get caught/fired as this is just my dream job and its getting better and better for each day
long time since ive actually loved going to work

but i guess i just had the wrong jobs earlier he he :yoinks:

Your seedlings are very impressive, Gunna...I don't even see how you can move all of those seedlings in larger container to the cornfield.

I popped your leb27 seeds in paper towel. The seeds took about 12 hours to crack open...and it just popped out of the dirt just now. The whole thing only took about two days.

I know that I originally planned to do a cornfield grow this year, but my car ended up broke down. Look like I have to use bike to my old spot that I have been using for 6 years. The shitty part is that, I can't grow too many plants in there. Maybe three or four maximum.
:fsu:

I have a question. How strong does leb27 smell when it's flowering? I'm little bit worrying that someone might smell them because my grow-spot isn't that isolated. I'm hoping the smell wont stretch more than....40 feets.

On the issue of crop rotation - the fields that I think are corn fields again have also been used for corn in 2007 and 2008, so I haven't noticed much rotation at all.
