So far it's ripped the gutters off my house. The waves are huge. Now the storm is getting worse. Panicking and smoking nonstop Shiva joints.

Bobbo4200,

Best thing you can do, in my experience is get a battery operated Lantern or camping light device (Not a flame) that takes a couple C or D batteries and just run it in your veg room for 14-15 hours a day.

Worse case scenario, get a regular flashlight and have it shine on the veg plants - that should be enough to prevent pre-flower triggering. But be prepared to replace the batteries more frequently if you use a flashlight vs one of the battery lanterns =) It's makeshift, but it will work and should be possible for most people without going out to get parts.

Do what you need to do, the show must go on!

I hope everyone affected comes out fine.

If you don't like the direction this thread has taken, change it! More pictures of beautiful plants, less bickering, more mature debate.

I had 2 quick flickers/power surges and thats it. The storm did a complete circle around us and we missed the brunt of the storm by about 40 miles.
Got lucky AGAIN and I was in the flower room when the lights flickered and the ballasts started humming funny to reload the lamps. I flipped the switch on my PXM-1 power expander, shutting them down, and put a l.e.d. flashlight on the girls for 10 minutes before putting the lamps back on once they were cooled off.

@Alone - Do you have anything to protect your bulbs from hot starts?

Random shots, I haven't grown elite cuts like some of you big ballers but have run enough seeds of some great strains over the years to fine some good ones. Grown K.I.S.S., slight nutrient burn followed by MG deficiency. Rebounded well but lost a few days, plain water for next few weeks until harvest at day 60 of 12/12.

Bottom popcorn and a few tops, Day 47

No I dont. I really need to buy 1. Ive burned out 1 ballast because of hot starts when the power flickers or surges for less than a second. It happens all day long because of this old, shotty electric in this 120yo house that the owner did his own electrical splicing and dicing. I cant wait to move.
Apple....the pics didnt show above.

My apologies, fixed the issue. I do straight clone to 12/12 SoG, and try to keep things squat. The hot start preventers from CAP work well if you have a fairly simple setup.

Thanx Apple. I dont have a simple setup. I have everything in the game but a lamp protector. It waits a # of minutes that you set to wait until the lamps are cool enough to restart. I need that, and an automated, battery powered light that will come on when the lamps go off for those 10 minutes.
With this house I rent I think that it would have its posi's and its neg's.
Pos - That there will be no fire from an arching ballast.
Neg - That it will do it 30x a day because of minor surgs.
I just need a new apt.

I have mine set for 15 minutes, and while it is a nice piece of equipment, it would keep attempting to start the lights if for instance your ventilation went or clusters of outages. Next gen of these I would hope would address multiple restarts. Still better than the alternative.

^ Nice, haven't listened to molemen in forever.

You ever listen to Qwel or other artists from Galapagos 4 records? Real quality underground Hip hop From Chicago. Qwel did lots of projects with "The Maker", The Harvest is one of his best , it's just incredible.

finally got my power on after 3 nights. Luckily I had a generator, so i was able to run my lights. But still a shitty situation. I was the only person in my neighborhood with a generator, and I was running it all night. I am sure some people thought it was odd. I am really close to chop on a few plants, and didnt have my dehumidifier on for the length of the power outage, and I was really starting to get worried i might encounter some issues. I also wasnt running the exhaust 24/7 like it usually is. Humidity got up to 80% in my flower tent with lights off! All is well now though. My thoughts go out to those who were far less lucky than me!

Yo DP!!,
Wow thats sucks but good thing you had a generator. After I got the power back, the humidity in my flowering tent was 99% lol! I Had one that had a little over a week to go, then another 2.5-3.5 weeks to go, and another about 3.5-4.5 weeks to go. Should be ok I hope.

Damn fellas, sorry to hear of the troubles. It was much ado about nothing out my way. We got lucky, very lucky. Hope your gardens bounce back from the brief interruption and you and yours are doing well.

shit happens.. gotta roll with the punches.. and buy your generators during the summer months.. and make sure they are in running order.. run ur ext cords.. and everything so that all u have to do is go pull the generator out of shed or garage... plug in ext cords.. and everythings up and running withing 10 mins.. being up here we deal with shit loads of snow.. so if ur goin to grow u need a generator.. so every winter gotta bring out the wooden generator tent.. i made to keep it nice and dry in hurricanes/snowstorms lol and i get the generator in there locked to the house.. and bam. we good to go for the winter!!!!

after losing a harvest of a 4 pounds to mold and bugs wen power went out in the summer.. i was in the middle of getting rid of mites i got from a clone from some loser that grows his garbage genetics that he accidently made cuz his room is shite and lite leaks and hermis shit.. and tells people he crossed them himself.. so i ended up with bugs that cuz the heat did a ton of damage.. well anyways after the move we decided to make it as stress free as possible ready for any situation.

Good luck to fellow MA residents on the final decision on MMJ tomorrow! I know I got my fingers crossed.... Even though I have a strong feeling it will pass. Hope everyone help up well against Sandy... Seems like MA/RI/Conn really lucked out for the most part though. :tiphat:
