Lights off

What's up Mars Hydro,
Let me know if this post doesn't belong here but wanted to reach out to you quickly to get your insights on something:
I have done a couple successful grows with TS1000 light in a Secret Jardin Lodge and just today I noticed that during lights off, the light is not 100% off, but produces a minimal "glow". Can't be more than what would be moonlight in nature...

This picture was taken with a long (1s) exposure but

Check this out:

I thought maybe it's my digital timer, so I switched to an analog Omnirex timer to confirm but still the same.
I can't say it has negative impacts on flowering or anything, never had in the time I've used the panel, but could it be better? I don't know!
It defo glows in the dark minmally with the timer off.

I'm thinking clearly it must be the timer, but since both models exhibit the same behaviour... is it possible that no matter what timer, there's always a minimal current, even when off?
When I pull the plug it stops, so it must be some tiny bit of current that makes it through the timer?
Anyone else experience something similar?

Clearly the fixture is getting voltage if it's lighting up at all. Does it still light up, when you physically unplug it from the timer? If so, then apparently the timer is letting voltage pass through even when "off".

Yeah as I said, when I unplug the light it stops glowing.
Strange and both timers do it...

I also noticed this, I believe it is meant to do this and like the previous poster said it’s green light. I think it is so you can still do things after dark in there (like steal an early bud like I was doing when I discovered it lol) cheers

It's not meant to do that lol. Check out the link I posted, and you'll understand what's going on. You need a timer that works with LED lighting. It's pretty simple. Do it right.

Thanks for that guys, it looks like it isn't so easy? My light draws 150w so the issues described for low wattages wouldn't not apply it seems?
Crazy shit, that the current to drive the timer needs to go through the bulb??
I never even knew they we're still a bit lit, my older MH reflector unit never did this...and neither my various SILs arrays.
Also the light is not green I'm afriad, all diodes are glowing a little. As I said none of the plants in the various grows seemed to mind, just curious if maybe they did even better with real darkness.
Maybe worth trying another type of timer, but have tried two already.
Hahaha no worries I'll just leave it ticking along
Here's a pic and you can see them glowing a tiny bit

Kudos to Mars Hydro

I just picked up another TS 1000 for my veg tent. The new design now incorporates an easier dimmer which seems a breeze, I can now run the veg light closer to the little ones and dimmed down a bit it produces virtually no heat, the driver is cool to the touch.

It's good to see the manufacturer still tweaking with the design and making these small improvements.

:)

Hi Cakeboy, thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures. That's really some big flowers.
Now the TS1000 can be dimmed easily. We were thinking all the way to improve the light performance :headbange

There is some current left in driver, so the glow happened. We got some similar issues before and we are finding a way to figure it out.
It will not affect the light lifespan or cause any damage to the light. No worry.

This issue will be solved in the next half year. We are finding a solution.

Are the extra 50w really necessary? The extra efficiency from the Samsung diodes would of made the light stronger and the 250w in the old 1 was plenty for the space it covered.
Glad I got another couple of the old version before you swap them over.
I got rid of my Samsung boards as much prefer the way plants grow under your old ts/sp lights

Good question, buddy.:D
We add more red chips(osram 660nm) on lighting board. And the chips are more close to each light. The light intensity also could be better than SP250.
