Do you guys know if mantids or ladybugs can catch fungus gnats? Thanks.

Yes.. the tricky part is training the gnats to fly into their mouth.

i dont think buyin mantis for outdoor is smart since there bugs and go wherever they fell(leave the garden). i see mantises here and there in Rochester NY. I would put my finger near their face and it would get in its stance and swat at me with its lil pokers. i think ther awsome tho, very very smart. wild pic man, wild pic

They'll actually stick around any one spot for as long as they have food. If they leave, it means there are no pests for them to munch on... and in that case, their work is done.

Old thread...I know.

I just wanted to comment that I have a couple mantids outside on my lillies and snap dragons..The mantids seem to be territorial. You can put one on a plant and it will stay on that plant for WEEKS as long as there are bugs around. I love the way they look.

Ive seen them when they are fresh hatchlings: They are about 1/8" long and translucent and are barely recognizeable as a mantis.

Don't kill mantids, they for sure aren't pests. I love to see them emerge in ANY garden.
