Man Caught smoking at work

I challenge everyone on the site and ask who has not worked stoned on something in their life. I bet that number would be close to 100%.

I ran a small (residential) construction company for years. I believe that there is a time and a place for everything. What a man does on his own time is his own business. What he does on my time is my business.

That said, my "policy" for long time employees was "don't let me catch you", because, if I can't catch you, neither can a homeowner.

Over the years, I had a few guys who would take the truck to "go take a shit" 'bout an hour after lunch. Guys who just couldn't be productive otherwise.

I asked no questions, therefore I was told no lies.

If a person isn't fucking up I cannot see a problem. That is the main thing.

Note: Getting caught is fucking up.

My whole staff gets high on something. I wouldn't tolerate a messed up meth user. My staff is kind of Seattle upity so I don't think that is a problem. I do know some of them are always taking pills of some sort and I have no idea what it is. But if it is their prescription it is their personal business. We don't operate anything dangerous here and my only concern is image and productivity.

Many states give employers a discount on their state Workers Compensation Insurance if they do random drug tests.

That is a form of control and that is what needs to change. Marijuana is becoming more and more accepted by the main stream of society and the only thing holding it back are the insurance companies and the like. It is a personal invasion to submit to drug testing, forcing one to expose medical conditions for the sake of exclusion, an invasion of privacy to pee in a cup, and it is flat out humiliating. It is time for a change.

The best indication that a person is impaired is if they fuck up their job, whether it be performance or image, that should be the only factor in employment.

Marijuana was made illegal Partly to legally discriminate against blacks and Mexicans during the depression. At that time they had to ride in the back of the bus and were treated legally as second class citizens. Shame on America for what is has done and it needs to stop now.

It's not just WC, but you will also get a better rate on commercial liability if you operate a "drug free workplace".

Is it "right"? Hell no it ain't. You would think never having a LTA (lost time accedent) in 15 years of operation would get you the best rate? Just ain't the way it is. Wanna play in the game, ya gotta play by their rules.

Just another shining example of the golden rule: "He who has the gold, makes the rules".

I worked in a place that had 75 employees; for 3 years. Everyone had a random drug test, except me. Why?

I never won a computer lottery drawing in my life :D

(the states provide a computer program to pick the winners)(the nurses show up at the end of the shift)(the winners are notified 10 minutes in advance)
