Male selection: which would you choose and why?

I wanted to get some input regarding peoples criteria when selecting males for pollination. It is obvious that I'm limited on choices, then again they all exhibit very different characteristics.
From your breeding plan you would have a list of the desirable aspects you seek, both in male and female stock, perhaps you liked the shape of one male and the taste of some female, crossing those 2 plants would give you a rough representation of your ideal, then cross them again to secure those desires...but keeping 3 active males around, is doom to any grow scene...but to cull the males as they develop, retaining the desirable male for breeding ...good luck

Smoke the leafs next time that might give you a clue of its potency. And yeah male leaf is more potent than female leaf before flowering begins at least.
Using multiple males is the best bet and select what you like from the offspring thats how i do it .I dont select for special traits in the begining i just check the offspring out and if i like something i go with that and breed further for that trait i like.

you might try to find Snow High Blue Berry Blast to fit your needs.
It's Blue Dream x Johnny Blaze.

Mix all 3 & make more seeds than you can use. You're more likely to find something steller with more genetic variation.

Thanks to everyone for pitching in, lots of great feedback.

Chunkypigs…that's a lot of flowers right there, specially for how squat it is. You could probably pollinate a a warehouse worth of plants with that much pollen!

Meds, thanks for the link. I've got some reading to do.

I will go ahead with some spot pollination and storing the pollens separate. About the leaf smoking…there was no signs of trichomes in any top but I might try smoking a bowl worth's just in the name of experimentation. I still haven't chopped up the males up so I guess I could try keeping them alive so I can take at least a cutting of each for further work. I was a bit hesitant just cause they take up valuable real estate in the garden plus I've got different varieties of tomatoes, eggplants, basil, papaya, guava, and passion fruit vines to take care of as well, which makes for a LOT of work.
I am pretty happy with the female currently in flower, she's endured a lot and still performs. The smell is more of hawaiian punch/red hard candy inside with a hint of OG Kush/haze on the outside, so I find myself drooling when i'm fondling her. I took ~30 cuttings while pruning the inside lower branches so I will definitely preserve her for further work and I am pulling the third highland oxaca male (chimera) from the garden tomorrow in order to do the same I am doing with these three. Be on the lookout, cause I will make a thread to get feedback on the selection and in three weeks i'll make another one with the other 6 JB X CD females ready for 12/12. At that point your suggestions might be more specific and I will be receptive to all feedback.

I wouldnt use any of them without stress testing. At this point if I was you Id take pollen of all three and then reveg some cuts of each and stress test em.

It's time and effort but worth itto smoke out intersex traits.

I have an update on the leaf bowls I sampled.Mind you, I hadn't had puff on the last 30 days, so my tolerance was close to baseline. Male A smoke tasted like leafy loosely trimmed indica and a bit woody but that might come from the chlorophyl. It is pretty racy sativa high with just the right amount of body high to just keep the body relaxed while still being highly productive, and imparts a nice creative mood. The one bowl had me going pretty strong for at least 4 hours.Lots of "trippy eyes" effects. I probably should have waited to try out male B today to better judge without felling any prior effects. It did not get me as racy as the first one yet still imparted pretty balanced the effects. The taste was more smooth like hash. I just smoked a bowl of male C and it is better tasting than A or B with a fruity berry less harsh smoke but less racy than A or B and I could say is lightest high of all three. There you have it,One thing I learned that you can actually judge potency and taste of a male by smoking the leaves, which I find awesome.
