Malawi Indoors

Hi
I had doubts about where to post some pictures of the plants I got. So I finally opened a new thread.

I have 6 females, and they join the grow room with pure sativas South African and Ghana from Cannabiogen.

Malawi are the most resinous by far, and they look like they are going to be ready in like 10 weeks, we'll see...

They look very homogeneous, so I've decided to save two males and cross them to make F2. I've already crossed them with different pure sativas and the three more resinous examples of Malawi I had.

These are the pictures at day 38 of 12/12.

They stretch quite a lot, some of them stretch even more than pure landrace from Ghana!!
The resin smells like it is going to be poison, but these plants look like very light producers... but it looks like very very good bud.

Cheers

What's the finish time on the Ace Malawi? Even the Malawi crosses on Seed Boutique say 13-16 weeks!

Be prepared for 16 weeks, it is however, fully worth the wait. It's full hold on tight holy shit this is potent sativa terror. Most things afterwards seem lacking in potency.
The yield is vast, if you have time to train, you'll be well rewarded - going in again time after next and I have never (and I mean, never) grown a strain for a second time (yes, judge me all you want, there's a lot of weed out there to try :)) but this is going to be on rotation she's that good.
The Purple Haze x Malawi keeps pouting at me too, the saucy little minx :)

well depend on pheno...
from start showing white pistols it takes between 8-14 maybe 16 weeks... you can speed up by flowering from clones and or do 11/13h light ... i took my down after 10 weeks fruity pheno, 13 weeks and 14 weeks ... from seed 30 day veg than 12/12 11/13 10.5/13.5...
from clone expect 1-2 weeks shorter flowering time...
here is my grow report...

I've got 4 malawi regular at 10 days under 18/6 cycle. My tent is only 1.6 meter high, when should i put them to flower regarding the stretch? I can put them in 3 or 4 days, but will i get many branches ?

Looks like a good start of flowering Carraxe :)

If they are from seed then they have less than 1 month of real flowering, considering this, your Malawis have well developed budsites and they are starting to produce lots of resins. As Tangwena pointed out, it's still early for them and they gain a lot of weigh in the upcoming 4-6 weeks .... continue with the same feeding and in a month or so start to lower down the Nitrogen but keeping the other nutrients.

What kind of Malawi crosses have you produced ?

Best wishes!

Hi Dubi
I crossed the Malawi males with some sativas I had: a selected 9-weeker clone of Mextiza and a 12-weeker Haze/Skunk hybrid I got.

The reason: to see if I can improve the potency and/or the resin production of both sativas, something that appears somehow difficult. Both are also quite resinous and strong.

I also wanted to see what is inside the Haze/Skunk genes, so I needed some offspring and I can't get more Haze/Skunk clones to F2. Also since this came from a clone, I don't want to lose it.

I guess I'll get a lot of hybrid vigor. Let's see in some months, when I grow the seeds.

I didn't cross Malawi with other pure sativas I had like CBG Ghana and Quetzalita. The reason for that is that these landraces are supposed to be subtle, activating, happy while Malawi (AFAIK) is very strong. Crossing them would mean to lose both different and interesting highs: it would be stronger than Ghana or Quetzalita, but it would be weeker than Malawi alone, and would take more time to grow.

Anyway I will wait to smoke all of them and if I see some possibility between them I still have frozen pollen from the two males.

I've been doing some crosses between other pure sativas as well, so I' having a lot of seeds to test.

Cheers and thanks for commenting

Nice work mate. Very resinous. My Malawi is very dense , yours looks like it has a bit more open habit .

Hey mate. I do 11/13 for all my flower plants. This Malawi is almost 10 weeks. It will probably go 12 weeks. Trichs are starting to go cloudy.the old oil smell is starting to get a little sweeter.

This is just one of them, they all are very resinous. There is a pollinated branch as well. Even with spider mites they look very happy.

Lots of good advice here, all I can add is that some Halides with HPS can help reduce stretching and possibly add potency to the bud

Hi

I've already heard about HM for flavor and power. Does it work? I'm curious about that... If it works, I'm going for it, although I've been with HPS Grolux for years.

They are tall plants, but they work well indoors if you trim their tip off.

Thanks for commenting

Cheers
